Even now,there are many instances where he takes decisions without thinking it's result.Like this Mahoba thing,where he let that king go free and gave him time to prepare.
May be he will lose Sanjam because of this decision.That is what baba is telling him again and again.
He commits the same mistake with Ghori,he let him go for the first time and the rest is history.

Ya..WHERE DID U GET THIS VERSION FROM????????? I don't believe the part where PRC left Sanyo in the Palace..NOT cuz ,I do not WANT to believe it....But,cuz EVEN HISTORIANS' who believe that their Love story existed, say that PRC DID ELOPE WITH SANYO AT HER SWAYAMVAR..& THEY WERE MADLYY IN LOVE WITH EACH OTHER..THAT MUCH is pretty much proven..As for the rest..YES...I TOTALLY believe that NO person is ALL-EVIL..& ALL-GOOD...PRC was DEF not a goody-goody guy..Neither,was Jaichand all-evil..& yes,JC WAS VERYYYY fond of his daughter..I read some-where that he was the MOST fond of her ; amongst ALL his children 😊 😳 ..HER & another daughter thta he had thru another wife..That daughter was 6 years younger to Sanyo 😳...DUNNOOO..WHAT TO BELIEVE 😭 😭 ...THE VERSIONS' ON HIM ARE SOOO DIFFF 😡 ..But,ONE thing is for sure..JC was NOT the evil man he is portrayed to be..I think,he was a LOVINGGG & CARINGG father..& a great warrior,too 😊 ..I DO NOT WANTT TO EVEN START THINKING BOUT THIS PRC 😭

Thanks Lakshmi for telling us this. I have nothing against Prithvi but i too believe that Jaichand must not have been that bad a person. In Sagars PRC, as i earlier said in one of my messages, when he asks his mom to be a part of wedding celebrations despite of her being a widow , was commendable! Whether PRC took away Sanyogita in swayamvar or whichever way it was, it was quite natural for that father to go against PRC.

thanks lakshmi di for this!!! it has really given us a very different impression of jaichand! i always felt that jaichand getting angry because of anangpal's decision to give the throne to prithvi was justified. anyone would feel hurt/angry after being promised something and see that promise being broken right in front of your eyes. and its such an insult too. and ive always felt that jaichand is a good father..a lil stern yes (but i guess he wasnt lyk tht in real life after reading ur post) but he cares for his daughter more than anything in the world. however i dunno if i believe the part about prithvi n sanyo not eloping on the day of the swayamvar and prithvi leaving sanyo at kannauj. prithvi and sanyo's love story is one of the most favoured and talked about aspects of prithviraj chauhan's life. its one of the most famous love stories in india. i dont think that the love story that has passed down for eight centuries is false..and the raso is said to be not 100% true..but i do agree that the way the sagars present prithvi in the serial is very over the top and should have more realistic elements

ok so very cool discussion. as a student of history i realise that this discussion can go on for ever and ever because the historical records in the pre mughal times r quite inadequate, either lost or destroyed. this serial is an interpretation of PRC by the sagars therefore, its his side and perspective.

secondly i havent read the raso but i know it is one of the most potent account of glorification of a king and therefore i cant believe that it will talk abt gandharva vivah. this type of marriage is associated in our mythology with the demons and i dont thnk chand bardai who has made prc larger than life at every instance will ever highlight this fact.

third, swayamvar is a matter of belief though i know raso and all rajasthani folk tales exemplify this fact. I am from rajasthan and the swayamvar is one of the most told folk stories. U either believe it or u dont, like the famous western love story of helen and troy, there r no historical records but ppl swear by it.

And lastly i dont thnk anyone is evil in this account, they r all caught up in the game of power politics which is dictating their action. trying to whitewash one while making the other black is not going to work. i am not saying its a modern production concept but the sagars r showing qualities admired by our modern sensibilities like compassion, love etc but were a burden for a king in PRC's times. So guys it is important to place things in the context.
