Ahem, where was I? yes. Jai was to be seen as a lead role in a lovely theme based school love story. I was really geared up to watch the show but its inaugural was laid off due to the TV strike in Nov08 and now after dangling with the its starting date it has finally scrapped it. What the F: i Am sure it would have been a lot better than the Kitani Mohabbat Hai (cheated stories from Veer Zaara).
Here's the article of Tellybuzz
"Jay Productions' Baali Umar Ko Salaam, the story tracing the innocence of first love and the romantic journey of a young girl Naina was to take-off on NDTV Imagine before the strike in November 2008, but unfortunately has not seen the light even now.
With the channel all set for a revamp of its programs in the New Year, the future of Baali Umar was uncertain. According to the buzz, there were chances of the show coming on air sometime in March 2009. But now, our reliable source from the production house confirms that, "The show has been scrapped from the channel. Even the sets that was erected has been brought down. This clearly indicates that the show is not happening anymore".
We contacted Kinnari Mehta of Jay Productions, but she clearly said, "We have no idea about this, as we have not been intimated by the channel".
When we messaged Shailja Kejriwal, EVP - Content, NDTV Imagine, she replied back saying, "The show is not happening now".
The show had Ankita Lokhande and Jay Soni playing the lead roles, and with them were Neha Desai and Lavina Tandon.
Well, this certainly looks like curtains down for the promising show!! "
Now let me tell you why i told Rajat's stars. They have been betrayed by the same channel. I don't wanna go down Rajat-bashing; but Rajat's luck was that Ramanand Sagar's sons gave him a useless crappy story to cash in on his PRC popularity. They are business-people, for them as long u earn bucks for them they will support you, or else you know what happens to sanitary papers. RT couldn't refuse them as
a)he was what he was because due to Sagars(Ramamnda's research on PRC much before his death)
b) maybe he was enjoying this instant stardom that he forgot to analyse the script properly. Maybe his well wishers or elder actors didn't advise him well. He could have taken advise from Jas Arora, the great actor who played Someshwar 's role, Chetan, etc.
Rajat has not reached Amir Khan's(or Ronit Roy in case of TV) level yet that he afford to be choosy about his projects. It can't be denied that "memory of Indian public is quite weak" (or else why people's culprits are again in parliament) and he couldn't afford to
a)offend producers esp Sagars
b) try to be off the eyes of media altogether
Anyway, my best of luck to both RT and Jai.
Get a GOOD job soon.
RT need our duaa more.
"The hindi general entertainment channel scene is hotting up with the launch of the 13th channel in the space. 'Real'—a new Hindi GEC channel—is being launched by Real Global Broadcast (RGB), a joint venture between Turner International India and Alva Brothers Entertainment. The new channel will go on air from March 2009. Speaking to BT, Steve Marcopoto, President, Turner Broadcasting System, Asia Pacific, said: "India is the largest market for Turner International after Japan and contributes 25 per cent to our overall revenues."
The latest TAM numbers for Week 3—the January 11-17, 2009 period— shows that this space is increasingly getting indistinct. A mere 8 GRPs separate Colors from genre leader STAR Plus (see Gross Rating Points). Can a new player succeed? Says Sudarshan R., Senior Business Director, Mediacom: "All GECs claim they are different but eventually they start showing more or less the same stuff. We are likely to see more strategic specialist channels concentrating on a particular genre in the long run.""
