The question is not so much this, as what Prithvi, as the king, would do if a private citizen murders his father just as Sindhu murders his, and comes up and seeks a pardon on the same lines as Sindhu, wailing and weeping and claiming that he is deeply and genuinely repentant.

What will Prithvi do then? He cannot punish the private citizen for murdering his father, for he has let his foster brother off scot free for a similar heinous crime. If he lets every parricide off on the pattern he has adopted for Sindhu, that would put paid to the whole system of crime and punishment.

Sindhu should have been jailed for life, seeing that there is no capital punishment in Malwa. One cannot forget that he has not committed theft, he has killed a man intentionally, in cold blood, and that too his father, The script, in trying to make Prithvi out to be a Lord Buddha reborn, has made a farce out of a very serious issue.
