There are many shows on Indian television where the heroes are actually criminals. The new Krip Suri show on Zee TV is an addition to this list. But I have got to know that heroes of century old Mills & Boons novels were actually nasty like most of Indian show heroes or more than that. I don't read those novels because I can't enjoy reading the books where one gender(be it male to female or female to male) tortures the other gender and conditions people's especially young girls minds that its cool to read or watch stories where their own gender is tortured badly by the opposite gender and shockingly they still root for the couple to be the end game. So I want to ask those whoever read those novels or even heard about that whether Shiv Dutt is similar to those heroes of Mills & Boons novels? Aisa hoga to kabhi nahi but but but if Chandrakanta was not a novel but just a random idea by any XYZ person then would the story would have gone any Mills & Boons novel way if CK agreed to become SD's daasi which would be start of her new life with full of tortures from SD? We all make fun of SD's acts many times and joke over it because we know whatever SD is doing he is supposed to do as he is a villain and he will not end up with CK by turning into a hero because only V is supposed to be the hero. If instead of SD, the hero would have done all the wrong things SD did then I don't think anyone would have made fun of those acts or laughed over them because a hero has to be like hero only. This forum runs on only 7-8 people on average and most of them are sensible to treat a hero like a hero and a villain like a villain. Here no one expects

Mills & Boon heroes varied mostly!!!!

So yes SD of PYPC who is in fact similar to Veer of Ekta's CK can be a Mills & Boon hero of the first set of novels released back in those days!!!

I have heard they were pretty bad!!!!

I have had the good luck to read a couple of heroes who were not that bad!!!!

From the history and experience about knowing Indian Television, I am very sure that a group of people were actually hoping and wishing for a Mills & Boons kind of dark story of SD and CK with V being either friendzoned by CK or V turning into a obsessive and psycho lover😆.

Not exactly!!
I have read many historical romances(i only read historical romances from the romance genre not contemporary ones) from mills & boons...n i have been lucky to encounter most of the heroes who are palatable to our modern psyche.
Not every hero is a savage...
n the heroes who are savage, are most of the time based in the Highlands/Scotland
Dark stories are not always about a male hero abusing the heroine...the darkness can be about circumstances too
There are strong heroines too!!
n yes SD is somewhat similar to only a few heroes from mills & boons that i have come across.

PYP Ck is a rare show to have portrayed such ideal n realistic protagonists especially the male protagonist!!👏

The problem for me in our Indian shows is not the male protagonist is nasty or not...
What I find offensive is the portrayal of the female protagonist...the ablaa naari/damsel-in-distress crying buckets at the drop of a hat, tolerating every damn wrong thing silently😡
This might have been true n absolutely common until a decade or two ago...
But the present scenario has changed a lot.
Many women nowadays are more educated n stronger than before n would not tolerate a bit the nasty things n tortures that Indian shows depict them to just tolerate silently...all in the name of future love!!
It just boggles my rational/sensible/strong/independent/logical(😆) MIND that how come any random man/woman can just abuse or insult me n I would take all that silently WITHOUT giving that person a dose or even more of their own medicine?!😲
I dont even spare my father if he even scolds me for something that's not my fault😆
cant just imagine bowing to a FUTURE LOVE or his FAMILY's abuses, insults or tortures
Most Indian shows are just absolutely unrealistic, outdated n regressive & our pathetic n even more regressive audience just laps them up!!🤢

P.S.: Phew!!...that became unintentionally long!!😆

Then you are unaware of many other categories. I too was unaware of many other categories till only a couple of years ago😆. Being part of several forums over these and occasionally visiting even Book Forum, I found many miners especially girls to be fans of dark novels. I think most of them don't come in M&B category but many of them do. These novels come under the category of 'dark romance novels'. You can type this on Google to know about such novels. Out of curiosity, I read summary and reviews of some books only to be horrified like anything. These novels have the heroes who kidnap, insult, beat, rape on normal basis but still the heroines fall for them and the heroes change because of these stupid heroines🤢😡. Sadly, the authors of these disgusting novels are women themselves. That's why, I asked these question because if Chandrakanta was written by any of these authors then SD only would have been the hero and CK would have been daasi of him. You should search about these novels at your own risk.

I have never been much of a fan of romance!!!!

Most romantic (historical or modern) I read have been thinking how much of it can fit on pairs I like!!!!

I have read two historials I loved!!!!😊

Indian serials want to show the girl can change the guy with her love!!!!

Which is a load of bullshit!!!

I strongly believe in what Lyanna Stark said in A Song Of Ice And Fire, "Love is sweet, dearest Ned, but it cannot change a man's nature"!!!

Obviously those novels will be written by female authors!!!!😒

Even Fifty Shades of Shit was written by a female author!!!!

Indian shows were better for initial 2 decades. It's due to those dark romance western novels it started getting wrongly influenced. There are large number of people mostly girls who reads such novels so they get attracted to crap shows. I was horrified to read the reviews of such novels with many of them eating it as 5 stars. Otherwise many Bollywood movies were progressive even in 70s and 80s. The TV shows in 80s and 90s were much ahead of their times. Preet told me this in DBO forum. Because of her, I watched few episodes of 1985 show Idhar Udhar and was amazed that the show looked of today's time instead of 1985. Some examples of those nasty novels are Debt Inheritance series, Tears Of Tess series, Consequences series among others. I heard theses names in discussions in different forums. Shiv Dutt looks milder than the heroes of these novels. Even I can't watch any show which only has romance. Jamai Raja was a different concept and PYPCK is more adventure than romance.

Jamai Raja rested solely on the male lead!!!!

PYPCK was balanced, as was EBI but then these were not on the main channel which needs to serve the sacrificing heroines!!!!
