if there are complications with a normal delivery, only then it is recommended that you have a cesarean. Having one simply because of the pain is not recommended as it is a type of surgery and all surgeries carry certain risks. So you could end up doing more harm than good.

I don't know what its like in India but in the US there are pain meds available such as an epidural, so that only minimal pain is felt and a normal delivery can also take place.

I don't understand why people make a big deal over C-sections. As long as the baby comes out and both mother and child are healthy, why should it matter? Instead of listening to relatives, friends, and people with little medical knowledge, one should consult their doctors.

Regular birth is painful and so is a C-section. However, the recovery times for both are different. In a regular birth, you are ok after a few days. In a C-section, you need to monitor yourself for about two months (especially the stitches). If you want to have more than 2 kids, it's recommended that you should not have C-sections for your first two or three children.

If pain is a concern, the doctors can provide you with a variety of pain relieving things like epidurals.

I have never heard that a C-section will spoil a woman's figure. There will be scars, if that is what you meant.

sherma there is nothing wrong in sazarrian. it was done after the observation of doctor. if the doctor found that you are i.e patient is not getting lever pains then no other option left except sezarian and there are no side effect by doing that. lever pains are so horrible, when you consult the doctor then he says if you can bare those pains then only i will go for normal delivary bcoz so much pushing is needed for that and some times due to that pushing she may loose lots of energy and goes to coma also then it is very difficult to save her and baby to. bcoz the work is in b/n thats why doctors first observe and then if patient want to normal then they go for that. now a days all are prefering to sezarian and mainly there are no side effects if you go through that. that is the only missunderstanding created by others.

For those of you who think that nothing is wrong with it, I want to clarify your misgivings. My field of study and research is medicine. I've been studying for 15 years and working in medicine for the past 4 years and as far as C-sections go, they have become a trend for young women to use as a way to avoid having normal birth. This is NOT recommended.

Here are a list of a just a few of the problems as to why C-sections should be used only in an EMERGENCY : C-sections cause infection which can occur at the incision site, hemorrhage or increased blood loss, injury to organs, adhesions (scar tissue), extended hospital stay, extended recovery time (can range from weeks to months), reactions to medication, additional surgeries required (such as hysterectomy which involves the woman to no longer have children in the future), maternal mortality, emotional reactions...etc. These are for the mother. Also, once you have a C-section, all your pregnancies thereafter, will require C-sections. Very few women are able to have normal birth after having a C-section with their previous pregnancies.

A baby has a risk of: premature birth, breathing problems for the child, low APGAR (because of anesthesia given to the mother to numb pain for the surgery which causes the child to feel distress), and fetal injury.

Honestly, if you are unaware of the facts about C-sections, it is best to first learn what you are getting yourself into. If you are capable of having a normal birth, then go for it because nature knows how to do its job and when something goes wrong, that's when procedures such as cesarean are used. If you feel you cannot bear pain in childbirth, then chances are you are not ready. Prepare yourself mentally and physically before deciding to have children.

Prassy, You have the wrong notion about C-sections. Please read what I wrote in my previous post. And as far as misunderstandings go, you have a big misunderstanding. Please do read my info about C-sections.
