Nishant Malkani to quit Ram Milaye Jodi
Divya Pal, TNN | Aug 12, 2011, 12.00AM ISTNishant, who plays Anukalp, the male lead in the show " Ram Milaye Jodi" had informed the production house a few months back about his decision to quit the show to chase his Bollywooddream. Following a row with the producer Rajita Sharma on being asked about the authenticity of his Bollywood offer, Nishant didn't turn up for the shoot. Later, when CINTAA took up the matter, it was decided that Nishant would shoot till a replacement was found. Now, with Nishant having injured his back, the show will need a replacement immediately.
Nishant says, "Yes, it is true that I haven't been shooting for the last 10 days. I couldn't have as I have injured my back. The production team has been looking for my replacement for the last three months. But I think either they haven't been making an earnest effort or haven't been able to find anyone. Since I will take some time to recover, it would be best if an actor is soon found to replace me in the serial." Among the few names that are being considered to replace Nishant include Hasan Zaidi, Puru Chibber, Karan Wahi, Kinshuk Mahajan and Angad Hasija.
Hasn't the production team been pressurising him to resume work? "No, because I have submitted my medical certificates to authenticate my ill health. I was asked to do that. I showed the medical documents I got from Dhirubahi Ambani Hospital, where I was treated. Both the channel and the production house have a copy of my medical certificates. At least, it is clear that I'm not faking it."
Irrespective of what had happened in the past, Nishant tells us the show's crew and cast have been in constant touch with him to inquire about his health. "Vivek, the show's co-producer spoke to me and my father. My co-actor Sara Khan too called me," he says. How about the show's producer Rajita? "I haven't been able to speak to her. In fact, I got to know from someone that she underwent a surgery to get kidney stones removed. So I don't blame her at all."
