The scene where Karthik and Komal go to ask SS' permission to marry is another reason to watch the show. Because it shows a family once united, is now divided thanks to the modern thinking of Pratigya and Krishna Singh Thakur. It's expected Shakti, Kesar, and SS will take the low road as they usually do. SS is too insecure to do what's right for his only daughter, so he will do what is right for him. But we have seen him disgrace his DIL in public and trick his out of wedlock son, so this is nothing new for him. He was about to punish Abhimanyu when he realized the guy tried to ruin his entire family and threatened his daughter, but now he is allowing her to come to harm for equally selfish reasons, if not more. Abs was ready to destroy his half sister and niece for the sake of his lost honor. SS is ready to do it for the sake of his supposedly-intact reputation. It's worse in SS' case, he raised Komal from birth and he is ready to punish her for what society will think. Abhimanyu was right when he said SS only cares about himself. SS is the same person who flipped a coin to see whom GD will stay with because it is that trivial to him.
SS proposing that a man like Karthik has to beat someone like Shakti in wrestling is primitive and sad. It's degrading for Karthik, who is a literate gentleman, high in education if not high in caste. And it's degrading for Komal Thakur Saxena. She married out of her caste once, why is a second time such a big deal? Why can't SS think of his daughter and grandchild. Samar has a father, ok not a great one but he is there. Chinky only wants what other children want, two parents and a normal life. She has a grandfather, great-grandmother, mother, aunt, uncle but no dad. At least get the kid a dog or something. Karthik's rebuke to Shakti was eloquent and well said. His refusal to fight Shakti was a noble one. He isn't a coward, merely refusing to stoop to the level of one. Plus, how do we know Shakti isn't going to pay off some other guy to give him some bad milk? Shakti and his wife love giving other people tainted dairy products and then denying they had anything to do with it. Shakti's line about dignity and honor was hilarious, coming from someone who brings ladies of the evening into his house when everyone is fast asleep. And then sends his pregnant wife to the roof no less so he can have some privacy while he is unfaithful to her, himself, and the so-called Thakur lineage.
Pratigya's defense of Karthik was just as valiant. She knows they are all backwards and needing to protect their standing in society. If it was so important to them, then they should never have let Krishna and Komal marry outside of their caste in the first place. Who on earth is Shakti to question Krishna's decision to marry outside of his caste when the woman he chose took a bullet for him? Only an illiterate man would stand by such high-handed reasoning. SS supported Komal's marrying Adarsh so I dont see why this is such a big deal.
The little scene with Komal and Karthik on the road was so nice. Komal asking why he would want to marry her and him telling her he loves her just too sweet. This is from the guy who once refused because of caste, realizing he can't live without her and her little girl. Prince Charming coming to save the day for Komal, only hope someone is there for Arushi. Unlike any of the Thakurs apart from Krishna, Karthik can actually cook. He is multitalented and the Thakurs would be lucky to have him. The whole concept of an educated man like him having to prove himself to a bunch of spoiled brats who can't read or write is completely backwards. SS who couldnt protect his family from Abhimanyu now has the nerve to condemn Karthik and Komal on principle. As if he had any!
Speaking of great men, we haven't seen Chandu since the restaurant faced scandal. He needs another good scene or two. =)
Shakti telling off Krishna while he and Pratigya are eating was another great scene. He depends on Bauji for everything, and he tries to judge Krishna on moral grounds when the man has ALWAYS been faithful to his wife, opened his own business and protected his family and Shakti rarely does anything. Even Samar preferred Abs to him, so what does that say? When Shakti threatened to kill Karthik and Komal and Krishna stood up to him it was so amazing. I wanted to hear the Krishna Krishna music haha. Krishna should have mocked him and said he is so heartless in his personal life and he tries to preach the gospel to other family members. When he isn't lying on witness stands, he is standing the high moral ground of izzat. Which is funny considering the only reason he and his wife are not in jail was because Pratigya Vakil fought to defend them a few weeks ago.
Final scene where Karthik is talking to his future stepdaughter was so cute. Of course Shakti is going to try and run him down in his car because it's the cowardly way to do it. And thats what he did with Abhimanyu. He just decided to do it at night when noone can see him.
Stars of the episode: Krishna Singh Thakur, Karthik, Pratigya

Lovely Review Trina😊...agree with everything you are saying...although i don't understand why SS changed suddenly...while back he didn't even spare his own sons and daugher in law for an entry in to the politics...and now it looks like as if he is regaining his conscious again😕...anyway loved Krisha and shakti today😊

SS isn't really all that changed Anaad. He has never been an out-and-out villain like Shakti. He is a gray character, and probably the grayest in the entire show. He does care deeply about all of his children, but when it comes to his ambition he can't control himself. It is a reflection of his ego, just like his affair with Shakuntala and his marriage to the girl. He later repents and tries to make up for it because he realizes its his fault. Yes, no matter what he says about his differences with Baba or Komal he can't deny they are both his flesh and blood. And they are just as much Thakurs as Shakti. They may disagree with him, but they still care.
Thank you for replying. 😃

I agree that SS isn't as evil as Shakti...but i don't know if SS can be called a gray shaded character. In my opinion a gray shaded character shows regret every time he has done something evil or bad. In the case of SS...he uses people for his own benefit and doesn't have problem killing them...the only reason he didn't kill anyone yet is because of Krishna and Pratigya... I mean if you look at murderers...they have no problem killing other people, at the same time the love their family and do anything to protect them...But that's just my POV😊.
