As madam shumiji commented, that is what you reap. Krishna was literally living in a fools paradise. All above hardships were rewards for his big mistake of thinking that Pratigya ever loved him, whereas she hated him with a passion before and after this marriage, her family hated him with a passion, he deserved all this because In their eyes he was the intruder the perpetrator who forced himself on to their daughter.

What his own family did to him is the norms known to them. Abusive and self centered father who could sell krishna or Pratigya to buy elections. And in fact he did not only sell Krishna when he allowed this marriage, but her own daughter too. Blackening the face of his own daughter's father in-law shows the mind set of this family. So no surprises dear, fate played its part in punishing those who caused harm Pratigya included.
