this track is so entertaining.

he praises himself in sucha matter of fact manner. That was the highlight of the day.😉😆 it si funny to watch and listen. he was so proud that he made the connection between astrology and numerology. I was proud of him too. Me too. He was trying to recall every thing that started with "sapta". I found that funny bec' I do that a lot myself.😳😳😃

then he was proud when he sold of his ring and bought her tea supplies. awww so sweet. but he did not tell her how he bought it because he wants her to trust his word. that is all he has. his word. no education. no career. no money. just his word. its the most valuable thing he has and he wants her to rely on it. Baba may be uneducated but he he lives a few fundamental kayda-kanoons of his own. That is what makes him unique.😃

she was very sweet when she gave that exasperated look (so like a woman who thinks that her man did not really understand her point in an argument😆😆 I know I have don it a few times), then she makes him tea (so sweet - belive me the look he gave her he could just live on tea for the rest of his life in that tabeela - fresh air and tea😆😆😆) then she says shukriya when she sees the blank look on his face after the thank you. that was the best part she did not treat him condesendingly because he does not know english but she treated him like a human being (someone who needs to understand they are being thanked no matter what language she uses). I give her full points climbing down just a little from her ivory tower. She earned my respect for saying thank you for his efforts for the first time ever. She never did when he bought rabdi for her or the many times he stood up for her. She is not so indifferent to him any more.

ok some funny observations.

the dude is giving her this philosphical talk when she is having her hide bitten raw by the bugs. OMG she kept quiet if it was me I would probably have given him dagger looks all through the convo. 😆😆 He even had a solution to look at the stars so she wouldn't think about the mosquitoes.😆😆😆

she kept splashing water. how long does it take to wash your face woman. and God alone knows how many dead mosquitoes where in that water. I thought she was going to have a bath standing right there she was washing her face with the same water again and again.😲

Then the dude trades a ring to get tea patti. Mr. Clueless you pawn the ring then take the money and then buy supplies beyond the patti. pagla gaya hai. wonder what the whole paying for supplies is going to do to his alpha male reputation eh? sure the CV's will show a negative effect later. realistically that is what will happen. for now let's enjoy the foolosihness a little longer I think SS or Sakthi will hear or see the ring and SS may be forced to bring Krishna and Prats back home to stop wagging tongues in society.😲

at this rate they can survive a week or two. she has tons of jewellery, he has one more ring, a chain and a earring. Baba has that bracelet he could sell a bead a day if he can convince someone that each bead is worth a fortune😉😆 and buy food for a month or two. after that they can sell Chandu. he is not as useful as Tunna. I actually like Tunna way more, he steps so bravely in the sherni's den. he has learnt nothing from her skirmish with Krishna.😆

He could have told the dookandhar he would get more food for that ring later at least. He may have done a dumb thing but he is going to embarass SS with that ............the old man is going to freak out that society is going to say he threw his son and wife with no roof over their heads and no food that he sold a ring to feed his wife. This won't sit well with SS and he will eat humble pie and call them back home. Amma is going to be even more furious once she returns for beizzati her husband even though it was Baba's decision to sell the ring.

At least Baba is learning a thing or two about how to behave, not threaten and take things from others, etc. He sees that his wife won't tolerate it and he is willing to consider that.

i am a sucker for romance so i want to seem them fall passionately in love....her learning to understand his family and very subtly changing their ways and mindset, and him doing the same to her family...and together fighting the likes of angard...

this show has got a lot of potential if the cv's approach the issues in a realistic manner and not in a fictional manner like what they have been doing thus far...

kudos to pearl grey and her team for bringing us a beautiful serial...all we ask is plz come on this forum every so often and read the opinions of the members and take some notes....believe it or not we have got some very intelligent debaters and commentators here with some wonderful ideas..👏😃👍🏼

I wish to congratulate Pearl Grey as I admire her very much for coming up with a realistic show like Pratigya . We viewers were tired of the fake niceties and bookish idealism shown in other shows that we hardly encounter in real life . Pratigya was REAL and made us sit up . And WATCH .

oh we have had many cosmetic realistic shows previously too ....but this is the first serial that is quite unapologetic abt showing the ground realities ...I would not say that there is no cosmetic treatment ...there is ..but it has been kept to the minimum...this show has accurately reflected the the abusive relationship betw husband-wife that is prevalent everywhere ..even in the so called educated ,elitist ppl..it has clearly shown the helplessness of ordinary middleclass ppl against the might of Money and Muscle power !!women are considered to be a paraya dhan , a phenomenon I have noticed in the North ..and this show portrays the plight such women who inspite of having moolah are left out in the cold by her parents ..For this alone ,this show deserves a huge round of applause !!
. I , as a viewer watch Pratigya for its stark realism . It is refreshing . The two families portrayed r real . The North Indian small town culture is real . The atmosphere is real , the language is real . The sense of humor and violence is real . The eveteasing , the stalking shown was real ........most of all , the corruption and chauvinism shown was real . So real , that it was disturbing . . However what was unreal was the way shown to deal with that chauvinism. If in real life women living in similiar atmospheres in India try to deal with that chauvinism or stalking in the way that the lead heroine , Pratigya does , they will end up DEAD or brutally RAPED in one day .

I wish there was a parallel story or a brief mention of the actual consequences what wud happen if such action were to be taken in real life ..it cud be shown as happening to some by stander or Shyamji reading about it in the news paper ...
. And so I as a viewer say to creatives that show the dealing with the burning issues in a REAL manner too . . If in real life , a woman decides to marry the man she thought was her stalker to teach him a lesson ...........she wud be raped daily if she refused him physical intimicacy as stalkers hardly have consciences . If she back sassed the Thakur mentality people the way Pratigya is shown doing , she would be subjected to horrific domestic violence and perhaps end up in a hospital all broken and unrecognisable for life . Her Education and spirit would NOT be able to help her a bit . The corruption in India is irreparable and its high time we view it as a reality and not dismiss it off by showing it can be dealt with with sheer 'spirit' or 'spunk' . .

Young women in their naivete may try to emulate Pratigya and end up losing their dignities and lives if they decide to marry their stalkers and 'teach' them lessons by refusing them sex and torturing them emotionally . The equation of life is simple........those who are in a position can perhaps 'teach' lessons........Those who are not , CANNOT . A woman who has no financial independence , political contacts ,police contacts , influential relatives CANNOT teach a person who has ALL this and more any kind of lesson . Spirit and education will be tossed out of the window.

I wud not say that the young woman are so suceptible ...if there is Kriya then there is Keshthi ..Viewer's can contrast betw these two couple !! and decide for themselves ..
But I understand .This is a commercial project and the idea is to make it commercially very succesful by showing drama blended with realism . The drama element is the mills and Boons type of love story between two unlike characters put together for the wrong reasons in a marraige , and the spirited heroine is the hook for women audience while the grey unpredictable hero is the perfect foil for making women hearts beat . And so I request Pearl Grey that now that you have shown all this and made this show a huge commercial success , for the sake of young women who watch this show with youthful naivete , put in some reality checks via dialogues so that if they decide to emulate Pratigya they wud stop and re think their decision . Please , please show it via any dialogue , via any grey character ,,,,,be it KOmal , Dadi or Naina telling Pratigya that her so called Winning Spree seemed succesful only because her so called stalker Krishna had a conscience and he indulged her all along . Not just that , he supported her in her every win .......be it not wanting to change the name , saving Kesar's baby , allowing her virginity to remain intact for so many days...........had it been Shakti or Angad , Pratigya would have lost her virginity a long time back . Infact we see forced marital rape in the bedroom of Shakti and Kesar when Kesar complains that her hand is hurt ........Shakti does not pay any attention to it . That is Reality for us viewers . It is Pratigya's immense luck that she encountered a so called stalker with a conscience and women out there may not be so lucky . So U owe it to them to give them a reality check via a dialogue where Pratigya is brought down to earth and made to realise her immense LUCK that all her wINNING was based on Krishna's individuality , that he took all those punishments as he was Krishna and NOT Shakti or Angad . That Her Win is not really Her win ALONE .

Komal is the anti-dote of Pratigya ..and she is the reality check for us and pratigya !!
I made this suggestion as I as a woman feel for the thousands of innocent , youthful women out there in the same predicament . Life in UP and Bihar and life in Mumbai or Bangalore is vastly different . A movie called Gangajal had tried to show the realism of North Indian life and the corruption there . We see the same life in Pratigya. No woman should try to do foolish bravado and end up raped or dead is my ardent wish and so I strongly request this reallity check dialogue that she won because it was Krishna she married .
I also have objection to the techniques employed by the heroine Pratigya to 'teach' a man a lesson . Contempt , Hate , rudeness , insults to his manhood , playing hard to get , are more capable of bringing out the beast in a man instead of subduing it . If a woman values her life and dignity , she should NOT use these dangerous ways of egging a man on to becoming a beast . We see Krishna attempting to rape her only once by losing his temper and catching her throat twice perhaps .........but I repeat , she got LUCKY that it was this less . Reality is far more gruesome . It is NOT good to tamper with a man's psyche and bring the beast out in him . Krishna is a gunda , even normal men end up murdering their wives [ see the cases in India] if egged on like this . The beast in a man can be subdued through love , not hatred .
I decided to post this coz both Pearl Grey and the writer ShantiBhushan stressed on the realism element . I do not suggest this because I want Krishna glorified as he is 'handsome' . Personally I find the actor average looking but his acting talents are stupendous . So many women watching this show and an actress on the podium of Star Parivaar Awards [ Shweta Tiwari ] publicly glorified the character Pratigya as being a hope of some sorts for women . I disagreed the moment I saw that speech . I understand that Pratigya's sprit is necessary for the commercial success of the show but that done , I wish a reality check for Pratigya via a dialogue stressing on Krishna's conscience and individuality so that women watching her as a role model are WARNED of her luck . This would blend in with the realism element Pearl Grey talked about .
There was a movie by Ketan Mehta called Mirch Masala which dealt with crass chauvinism in India where uneducated village women working in a small factory drying red chillies and making chilli powder come together and present a UNITED front against chauvinism which was more believable . If we see Pratigya opting to stay WITHIN the marraige and trying to change the women's mentality in accepting chauvinistic roles doled out to them in their personal equation with their husbands it would be more believable and real . I have mentioned this many times that I would love to see ALL women of the house coming and standing behind Amma and removing SajjansIngh's hand with a unified effort when he holds his wife's hand cruelly in hot milk as a punishment . I would like to see Pratigya informing Kesar's influential and rich maayka about her torture and bringing them in intelligently to make Shakti answerable for his deeds and giving Sajjan Singh a rude awakening that just as his Komal is the apple of HIS eye , Kesar is valued by HER father and HER brothers . I would like to see Pratigya winning in getting Shakti attached to the very child he wanted aborted although it is a GIRL CHILD . These wins would be so real .
Lastly I end this post by congratulating Pearl Grey for all the awards her serial Pratigya got . She talked about uncurbed creativity in her interview .........and we see what original , unrestricted creativity can do with a serial's success story compared to typified FORMULA.
Note : This post is not intended to 'hurt' the feelings of Pratigya supporters at all and I don't wish to debate with them on the validity of my beliefs as they are my personal opinions . It is intended for the creatives of this show if they take notice of this forum . And yes , for those who will agree with this post , please click the like button and answer as a joint effort will have a greater impact .😊
.

A good post ,KST 👏 ..... your post is always grounded on practicalities and the realities ...I do wish the young reader's reads your post and realizes the actual state of the society for it is my unshakeable belief that this fire spouting angels have had more of books and Movies and less of life's experience and when they come face to face with reality ..they are going to b disappointed ..

@ koolsaadhu
Excellent post, and so so true! Many thanks for writing this. Really hope Pearl Grey reads this and includes some of the views posted here.

The basic premise of Pratigya, that a woman marries her stalker to teach him a lesson, and then finds out he wasn't so bad after all, is a plot seen in a million films in India. Don't know if girls actually do that anymore, unless they are forced to. But still, it would be better if the CVs show that Pratigya is not as intelligent as she thinks herself to be, and she is more lucky than she thinks she is!

@stillhopeful
Very sad and touched to hear about your friend. Millions of women (and a minority of men) lead very harsh lives in India. TV producers and writers should not make that harshness into a joke but give such people hope and courage, and make those people whose lives are not so bad appreciate what they have.

I do like this serial, in spite of its flaws, because I think it has touched a nerve amongst us audience! Pearl Grey has done a fab job in bringing some issues into the open and getting people to discuss and debate them- for example, how lightly SS views hitting his wife. Now people watching the show might ask, is that right? It may or may not change anything immediately but at least people debate it in small and big towns and that's a start. So hats off to her for that! Hope she continues to do a good job and not give in to gimmicks.
