Yep. That time it was different and it was not odd at all. Mortality rate was not high as medical field was not advanced and there were frequent wars. Concerns like heir for the throne were at large. Being one woman would not have been helpful for kings back then.

In the history of my country some kings ended up dying by the hand of their sons because of their wrong decisions. There was one king who promised his second wife that his son would be the next king instead of chief queen's sons. What happened was that three siblings plotted against their father using second wife's son as a scapegoat. In the end they were successful.
