Birthday Gift
25th January, 2014
Today is Zoya's birthday but this year is not like the other years. She can't celebrate it as she has to go to Delhi, because the next day she is going to have an eye surgery there. Her train is at 4 pm. She was half done with her packing and sitting idly surfing through Google in her I-pad.
Zoya was very sad, she wanted to do something before going to Delhi but that was quite impossible for her as she had very less time in her hand. Phupee was out from the town as she had gone to her relative's house. Najma and her Mr Khan wasn't also at home. It's was very difficult for her because she was used to be with her aapi and jeeju on her birthday. She was missing them badly.
Zoya was in her bedroom when suddenly her mobile rang it's was Najma
Najma: Assalamu-O- Alaikum, Zoya what are you doing?
Zoya : Nothing I'm alone at home and I'm really bored
Najma: If you are doing nothing then come join me next in my school. I have a long break and we can go somewhere for lunch as it is your birthday.
Zoya: You remember it? Said Zoya with a great smile adorned with her face.
Najma: Of course I remember that. How can I forget?
Zoya: Oh thank you Najma I was so sad to be alone today wait I'm going to change and will join you within an hour. Zoya literally screamed on the mouthpiece being so happy
AFTER THEIR LUNCH
Zoya was in a cab in her way home. She fumbled with her cell for several times, impatiently waiting for one call. But it did not come.
"How could Mr Khan forget my birthday? He didn't even call me once" Zoya mumbled while pulling out a perfect pout on her face.
FIVE MINUTES LATER
Zoya mobile pinged again and this time it was a message from Asad
Asad: Good afternoon, Miss Farooqui, what are you doing?
Zoya: Good afternoon, Mr. Khan. I'm in my way to home. I was with Najma for lunch. My train is in two hours and my bag is not done yet. She sent the reply immediately.
Asad: Okay. Asad sent this simple answer.
After reading his reply Zoya had only one wish on her this birthday ... CRY .
But few seconds later her mobile pinged again it was another message from Asad.
Asad: Miss Farooqui, I'm really sorry I couldn't be with you today and I know that it's your birthday.
Zoya : It's okay, Mr Khan. I understand you must be busy. Zoya replied back with a heavy heart.
Asad: I'm really very sorry. I promise that when you will be back, we will do something together for your birthday.
Zoya: Allah Miyan what's wrong with you, Mr Khan. I said that it's okay :-D. She said that smiley to assure him. Zoya tried to be happy but a lone pair of tears fell from her eyes. She bit her lower lip to stop her sobs.
Asad: Okay I will call you late. Take care of yourself and have a safe journey.
Zoya read the message and sighs heavily.
IN FRONT OF KHAN MANSION
She came out from the cab and looked at the empty house.
Zoya: So this year I will not have any present or even a cake, said Zoya loud with a sad expression and a pout on her face while entering the house with spare keys.
"Who told you that?" said a known voice behind her. She was startled for a moment then turned to see that if it was really him.
Zoya: Mr Khaaan !!! You are here, like really here?? She clapped her hand with happiness and squealed with joy.
Asad: "Yes Miss Farooqui I'm here like really here" Asad stood in front of her with a chocolate cake and a present in his hands.
Zoya was so happy seeing the arrangement he did for her.
Zoya: Thank you so much Mr. Khan. You cannot imagine now how I'm happy. Thank you so much. This is the best gift ever. With this she hugged him tightly. Asad stiffened at once there but then eased and reciprocated the hug.
Asad: You are welcome and HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
