ummmm maybe because arijit got fedup with Shamit under his chadder and felt like holding a soft hand or maybe he wanted to c how the witch reacted to his vote...and she did a predictable shrieking act....and did u watch the bindi saving act..she literally was minding her bindi and patting her temples instead or the forehead...even in deep anguish..did u guys notice?

or maybe he felt that by voting shamit out people might stop calling him 'GAY' and say that he is bold.
