No one can answer the whys and whereofs of why Ankita chose this role. She must have had a narration and decided to go for it, it is her choice to make. She is from the industry and knows what she wants and risks and benefits of roles and one needs to trust her intelligence.
Whether the creatives will do full justice to the role or not time will tell and I think it is not the length as much as the impact the character has, a good example was role of Varun. Even lead characters are butchered in many shows, so it's not the bane of side or negative characters alone.
The credit should also be given to the casting director and director of the show for choosing good actors for all roles so far. Vishal Gandhi just finished his cameo as Paro's groom and audience enjoyed Paro-Varun chemistry too. VMs were made for this pair too. So, the creatives must be doing something right. People even like Thakur and his wife's chemistry.
Glad that different aspects and actors are being liked by audience, as that means the show can entice a larger audience. Ankita is doing well as Laila and I trust her to know why she took up the role and think about it's future as she is not new to the industry. So far the character seems to quite central to the Rudra-Paro saga.
