Deepika Padukone heartbroken as Ranveer Singh misses award nominations

Any doubts about the warm friendship shared between Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh are dispelled when one realizes how protective she is of his right to win awards during this awards season. Going by the early trends it looks like Deepika Padukone is all set to sweep all the popular awards. But the actress is not ecstatic about her triumph. Why? That's because her Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram Leela co-star and her real-life good friend (wink wink) Ranveer Singh is not likely to win any of the awards.

Deeepika, who feels Ranveer was as good as her in Ram Leela, is disappointed on her co-star's behalf. Says a source, "Deepika thinks Ranveer deserves awards for Ram Leela. However she cannot come out and say this out loud as she is too politically correct in her proclamations to risk offending the other actors in the Best Actor nominations."

Apparently, the actress was heartbroken when Ranveer was not even nominated for the Best Actor category in the Screen awards. "Deepika called up a friend to say she felt awful about Ranveer's exclusion as she felt he was not just as good as her in Ram Leela, but even better than her," says the source. Sadly, the chances of Ranveer winning any award for Best Actor seem dim, considering the competition. "But what better award than to have your co-star (read good friend) believe so strongly in your performance?" says the source. We couldn't agree less!
