My Ratings for Rang Rasiya

So I think I've seen enough episodes to give fair assessment. The first major plot point has played out and here are some of my thoughts on it.

Story and screen play - 7

RR has a promising storyline. The grey predicaments of Army officials and a promising villain king set in the back drop of rural Rajasthan. It's exciting and thrilling. But yes the story is much cliched with a damsel in distress and the whole love/hate angle. Apart from that it's been pretty straightforward so far. But ratings may change if the CVs throw in some curve ball at me!

Dialogue - 5

The rating is not because the dialogues are bad in any way... it's because I cannot understand most of it. I think one of the main reasons of TRP drop may be the difficulty in understanding the Rajasthani slang. I for one am finding it pretty hard. A bit more Hindi and a little less of the slang will do wonders to increase the audience appeal I feel.

Cinematography and Execution - 9

I really cannot find any faults here. It's wonderfully executed and top class. Very professional and kudos to the director of photography. Definitely, by far, the best made show I've seen.

Background Score - 8

Excellent! I love the RR BG as well have enjoyed the other situational songs played. Very haunting and beautiful.

Acting
Paro - 8
Rudra - 8
Takursa - 9
The acting so far has been worthy of praise and everyone is top notch. I've known Sanaya for a while and knew she'd fair well, but Ashish has equally risen to the occasion and is impeccable.

Costume and set design - 8

Again extremely professional. The fact that they actually shot in Rajasthan is a feat on its own. Very picturesque and flattering to the story. Also Rudra in uniform HAWT.

Direction - 6

I thought hard for this one and decided on 6. I think the violence needs to be sufficiently toned down for me to appreciate the direction. All the fake butterflies and corocs were a bit of a laugh as well. But barring that I'd give it an 8 or even 9. Some scenes were truly well shot but I'm afraid I cannot look past the violence or brush it off.

So that's me. What's your verdict so far? And what do you hope to see improve?

RC- to me the stars of RR are the people working behind the camera who often remain under-appreciated. I was an AD long time ago myself for a very short time period, so I know what it feels like when actors walk away with all the praise.

The casting director, and the DOP deserve the maximum laurels.

Followed by the costume designer and the AD who chose the locations.

The editor and the sound engineer/voice coach need to work better. The over use of slow motion has given a lot of people a headache. And both Ashish & Sanaya's voice texture sounds very different.

The dialogue writer and the AD in charge of continuity deserve a wake-up call. Both need a lot of work.

In terms of actors everyone done a very good job so far- Sanaya, Ashish, Tarun, Nadia.

ditto on ur analysis! only thing i would change is 10 out of 10 for the background scores! they r impeccable!!

And YES god tone down the Rajasthani slang! I am still trying to figure out a few words Rudra said today!
Its not hard with Sanaya's dialect actually. Either they have done the sensible thing and given her less Rajasthani to speak or I am just used to listening to her that i pretty much pick up even the most incoherent words she utters even while choking on the words as a scene would need..

And i am saying this as someone who downloads the HD video and watch each episode (minus the violence) more than 3-4 times. And even repeatedly replaying I have trouble catching some words of Ashish. Maybe his accent i am not used to..
but anyway it really might be one reason normal viewers have turned off..
cz after all they r not crazy enough to do what i do and replay every scene till i know the exact words.. they watch once and if repeatedly they miss dialogues they will miss the whole beauty of a scene n the chain continues..

Weirdly enough I like Thakur's aka Tarun's Rajasthani.. its very clear.. and gives a good feel to him..
So keep him at it and get every1 else to lay off Rajasthani words!!

Casting for the show is spot on! Sanaya was the only 1 who was a by default part of it. but the casting director as NB has said deserves praise for getting together the stellar cast they have!!

I am specially very very fond of Sadia and Tarun apart from the leads..

Hey NB!

Yes indeed! I've worked on theater sets and although it's not quite the same, I know it takes the work of 100 people to make a five second scene look good.

I am afraid I wouldn't notice a real Rajasthani accent from a fake one.. So I can't accurately access how well the actors are doing in that front. Yes the slowmo, SI' s cry was a bit stretched and head ache inducing I must admit.

I know right?

Like today, he was saying something profound to her (it seemed important and stuff!!) And I was like... hmmm what? Wait I think I know that word... No? Yes? Wait WHAT? 😆

The casting is excellent indeed! Love most of the actors.

Its not the accent Im referring to. Its the voice texture. I felt Sanaya's voice sounded quite different. And guess what when I watched Ashish's audition tape I realised even he sounds very different in the show. His diction was perfect & crystal clear in the audition tape.

So far to me I like everything in the show. When they are giving us something on such a grand scale, bigger, better, more impressive, i'm happy with it.

My only problem is like everyone else, I don't understand the dialect... Also they need to make Ashish speak louder and clearer... Thts my only concern.

The actors are doing a terrific job...

The dialect the my only problem, not to mention I have to wait for hours for the guy to upload the show in English subtitle to understand. I was so getting used to Hindi even that I'm kinda poor with but I been getting better. Rajistani language is just too hard to follow I couldn't understand anything Rudra was saying today 😕

I see a lot of people complaining about the dialogues!! But I don't think we will see a change in dialogues until next week episodes, since the first 10 episode were already filmed!! Sadly, I don't they could've gone and edited the dialogues!! Which may have cost them some viewership, I think!! So, I think next week will be better on that front!! 😊 I don't know about the viewers though!! I feel bad for the team!!
