After years and ages! I was this close to a girl that too Kria Ghai, my colleague who I had appointed only and only for revenge. The rest of the time at her place we ignored each other which obviously made the situation even more awkward. It was weird because I had become close to her dad. He was loving and caring. I started to open up with him. I had full respect for him, maybe because he was elder or maybe because I found my dad in him. But whatever it was; he was nice. I had started thinking about Kria's family allot, first Sharon and now her dad. It was so not me! Ignoring their thoughts; I prepared for the following trip to Panchgani for the presentation i had to give along with Kria. As Swayam and Vicky had asked, Sharon and Neha had also agreed to come.
I beeped the horn after reaching her place. Sorry, THEIR place. Swayam and Vicky were waiting patiently while I was getting irritated at the time they were taking. I beeped my horn again.
"Bro chill! Ladkiyan hai time toh lagega na" Swayam casually said.
Yeah they were *girls* and who would know them better than Swayam, especially after being engaged to Sharon. Finally! Finally the girls came out. But where the hell was Kria?! I could only see Sharon and Neha coming out, dressed in short dresses. Swayam and Vicky couldn't stop gawking at them, and before I knew it Swayam was out from the front seat and outside talking to sharon.
"Hi rey" sharon spoke in her sweet tone. I smiled and replied with a "Hi". In minutes the back seats were taken by Vicky-Neha and Swayam-Sharon. I was about to beep the horn again but there she was, coming out in a hurry handling the files. She was wearing a black knee length dress with heels. Her silky hair flowed upto her shoulders perfectly.
She (her look) looked really... Ermmm Wait! Was I gawking at her myself?! She came to the car and looked at the seats. Unfortunately the only seat available was the one next to me at the front. We would have hated to sit together if the situation was normal as well but the situation created since yesterday made us hate sitting together even more. "Kria di sit na! Sorry it's the only seat left" Neha spoke. I gritted my teeth together. Having no option she sat there without saying a word.
Kria Ghai had not spoken to me since yesterday! And that was not normal for her. I didn't know whether I should speak first or not. The others were too engrossed in their own conversations to hear us. "Ye kya pehan rakha hai Miss Ghai?" I simply asked not knowing what to say. I guess at that minute I had broken the awkwardness, because right then she turned towards me "What's u'r problem Sir? Aap mere boss hain lekin mere clothes se problem nai honi chahiye aapko!" She said in her attitude tone.
She was actually right. I shouldn't have asked her that. But at least it wasn't awkward as much now. "Kya huaa? Chup kyun ho ab!?" She again asked breaking my thoughts. I had to reply to her. "Listen Miss baatcutter! Meri problem ye hai k hum kisi trip pe nai, presentation dene ja rahi hai. Apne ghar and office mein patiala salwar, Panchgani pahunchne se pehle hi dresses?" I let out in frustration. I think my words were too much.
"Gaadi roko!" I didn't listen. "I said stop the car!" She shouted bringing the others back from their conversations. I stopped the car hard to which the screeching off the tires could be heard. "Listen Mr Reyaansh Singhania! My parents know what I wear and when I wear! They have allowed me to wear whatever pleases me! rahi baat patiala salwar ki I like wearing it because it's comfortable, dress maine Sharon ke kehne pe pehni thi. And if my parents don't have a problem, they have never asked me till today then who are you to ask?!" Woah! She was damn angry!
I didn't mind her shouting because I knew I was wrong to ask her that. I kind of felt bad for asking her that but no way was I gunna say sorry! "Listen I didn't mean it that way now put ur belt back on, were getting late" She started murmuring to herself. "Sorry bolna bhi zaroori nai samjhte" was the one I heard. I let out a small chuckle and started the car journey again.
It was almost noon, we felt a bit hungry so we decided to take a break and have some snacks in a restaurant, "Sharon, what would you have?" Swayam asked his sweetheart. Vicky too asked Neha, they placed their order and went around to have a view of the restaurant. By their actions I realized the meaning of word the chivalry (manners) so I passed my menu card to Kria. "No thanx, I'm not hungry" she let out. "I know you're hungry, the sound of your hunger pangs is heard till here."
She pouted, "Mujhe nahi khana" Err why she is so... so... ziddi. "Dekho Miss Ghai plz kuch kha lo Panchangi is still 100km from here and main baar-baar car nahi rokne waala for your eating purpose." She threw the menu on the table. "Ab to mujhe bilkul nahi khana" Gawd these girls... why don't they listen at once? "Kria Dear" She looked at me with eyes wide open.
"I mean Kria, my dear assistant dekho we are going for an important presentation ab tum khaaogi nahi to do baatein ho jayengi either you'll ask me to stop the car at another food point by that we'll be late or else u'll faint and cancellation of presentation. I don't want any such situation to plz like a good girl baat maano." I explained trying to be patient.
She agreed and called out the waiter, "Bhaiya" Did my ears hear it right? "Aye hello kya kar rahi ho? Its not a dhaba, relax. Excuse me can you take the order please?" Waiter took the order and she stared at me till he wasn't gone. "To kya ho gaya? Wo bhaiya nahi hai kya?"
Now what would i answer her, "Nahi wo bhaiya hai but aise accha nahi lagta na you calling him Bhaiya. It's a restaurant." She gave a weird look, "Then how should I call?" I guess she really wanted to know how to call a waiter. "Miss Ghai call them by saying, Excuse me can you take the order please?"
"Okay let me show you..." She ruffled her hair and took the position. "Excuse me can you take the order please?" it seemed as if she was seducing the waiter. "Oh madam khaane ka order de rahi ho or waiter ko seduce kar rahi ho, theek se bolo?" She laughed at that. "Haha Sorry, one more time plz. Excuse me can you take the order please? Ab theek se bola?"
"Finally correct tone" We both laughed and gave a hi-fi to each other. I felt a bit uncomfortable after that and ran my hand through my hair looking down. She too felt a bit weird and looked around. The four of them were back, and the food was also there. They laughed and cracked jokes but I and Kria were quiet having the food.
