WOM was extremely mixed (more towards negative). After watching the movie on first Saturday, I expected that the movie will show cracks from weekdays onwards and might struggle to touch 200cr. But, day on day the movie was very consistent and showed good jump during holidays and weekends.

This movie has defied all previous BO logic. I was so happy when 3I was all time top grosser and when K3 overtook CE coz I and most of them had liked these top grossing movies.

Dhoom brand all that is okay but I thought movie will work only on its content...all the khans and roshan's movie might have bumper opening but lifetime should be based on the content...it was not the case with D3

Damn, how do we measure quality of a movie now?

PS: Nothing against Amir. I would have been so happy if D3 had good content

No idea... it was a piece of crap film... and Aamir Khan gave an absolutely embarrassing performance...

but still...dis is one movie dat has completely defied BO logic...i don't think any other muvi in the past has shown so much contrasting results

D3 is a big hit because of the brand DHOOM and Aamir's wonderful acting and starpower...

Well, it was a very high budget film with famous stars like Aamir and Kat and it also was part of Dhoom franchise

Promos were fantastic for general public, so that could be the reason...

I for one enjoyed the movie and when you watch it for 2 hours you don't get bored so I guess people like general public liked it

hmmm...somehow consistent run is still quiet elusive...brand name, star power, one time watch etc only guarantees a good start but don't guarantee such a consistent run..

I think films such as Agneepath (old) etc which went down with box office failure although later proved to be a classic cult...D3 stands on the otherside...going down as box office blockbuster and later will prove to be a dead rubber.. Start of a new era probably...more such cases to come may be 😲

Well for one, it was marketed brilliantly! It seemed like Katrina had a substantial role, Aamir was amazing, and Abhi-Uday were continuing with the comedy. Also, the circus act seemed so cool and new. All over the news there was mentions of how Aamir learned tap dancing and Katrina did her own stunts, etc. It really was marketed brilliantly.

It also had the advantage of having the previous Dhoom's successes behind it. The Dhoom films are known for their stylized content, great acting and engaging storyline. So people figured that this one would be the same.

And a lot of the cracks I found were probably enjoyed by the Indian population. Like I thought the circus act was lacking but others liked it. I thought the Aamir twin brother was kind of cliche, others liked it.

And on a personal note, I didn't mind the movie. Sure it wasn't as great as the previous Dhooms but it was still a good movie.
