Beintehaa
Fortune Productions' Beintehaa airing on Colors TV has slowly but steadily captured our attention. Sweet, traditional and poetic love story through the lead protagonists' eyes leave a tingling feeling within our heart.
The story of Aliya (Preetika Rao) and Zain (Harshad Arora), began as kids who resembled the comic series of Tom and Jerry. Grown apart over time, both Zain and Aliya remember their past and are left unknown about their future.
As Aliya gives news of her upcoming nikaah (marriage) to a young lad Zeeshan Ahmed, destiny takes new turn. Aliya's mamu jaan, Usmaan Abdullah (Naved Aslam) sends his youngest son Zain to Bhopal to represent his family during Aliya's nikaah.
Bhopal's poetic winds leave this young lad awed upon laying his eyes on a beautiful girl riding her cycle. She was the same girl naughty girl whose picture he saw on Facebook, whom he knew as a kid. She was the gorgeous Aliya.
Beautifully directed, Beintehaa just mesmerizes you with Preetika and Harshad's presence. With direction, editing and colorization, the touching scenery leaves a mark on the first time viewer.
As the story does progress with the title song flashing in the background, the lyrical meanings "Na hain ibtida, na hai imtehaan, hai meri dastaan tu wahi...Beintehaa..." showcase their initiation and hurdles that are bound to rise in the future.
However, in the present world, Aliya misunderstands Zain as her would-be husband Zeeshan (Wasim Faras). Expecting a hero like looks, caring personality and mirror image of herself, Aliya is lost in Zain's presence. Leading to New Year's celebration, Zeeshan is left confused and wordless as Aliya's confusion brings her close to Zain.
A jealous Zeeshan instructs his parents to raise the stakes of dowry and money surrounding their nikaah. Based on the name of tradition the true jealousy and the resultant greed are visibly noticeable to the viewers.
Unaware of Zeeshan's motives, Aliya comes to know Zain's identity. Without pure hatred but with a sense of dislike towards her idiot cousin Zain, Aliya vows to settle the scores. As she uses fake police actors to play her ploy towards Zain, the bittersweet moment totally reminds us of Tom and Jerry. They can't stay apart, nor stay calm like the silent water when present together. It's bond that need to be lived, not glued together.
Like two magnets with the same positive traction, Zain and Aliya differ in many ways. However they unite like those magnets who attract each other once turned opposite.
Within the upcoming episodes Aliya will be seen keeping her distance from Zain. Praying to Allah for guidance, she stumbles across the handsome hero Zain. Will Zain break or make Aliya's nikaah is something to watch for.
