@bold,
I could not have said it better. It is only when Pakhi will leave, will he realize what just happened! Till that he is running on a one track mind route - GET RID of pakhi.

Beautiful analysis, very beautiful

I loved today's episode and all the revelations to us about Ayaan! I had never expected him to be such a sweet and sensitive child and the CVs surprised me yet again. He is so much like his dad, all cold and angry on the outside but soft and sensitive deep down. He also has that strong protective streak that we saw Pakhi bringing out in Anshuman in the jail sequence.

I also suspected that Anshuman would only be making Pakhi look better with all his scheming and that is exactly what happened. He is doing for Ayaan what Lavanya did for him in the whole gift situation, making the former's expectations so low and scary that Pakhi's pure and warm-hearted sincerity shines even brighter. Ayaan has always been completely aware of Mahaji's hypocrisy, more than anyone else in the house. Before he used this knowledge to his advantage because he felt alienated and insecure but in this situation he sees that MJ is plotting against Pakhi when Pakhi only wants to do nice things for him. The fact that Pakhi is aware of Mahaji's hypocrisy and declared it loud enough for Ayaan to hear will increase his respect for her intelligence and low BS tolerance. It's as though everything is inevitably leading Ayaan to Pakhi.

Even the letter will serve this purpose because it will open up communication between Ayaan and Pakhi completely, the lack of which is the one weakness Anshuman and Mahaji have been able to exploit thus far. Ayaan and Pakhi are both too smart to fall for lies and they will definitely put the pieces together once they communicate openly. And once that happens, Anshuman is a goner!

As for the man himself, I have read a lot of disappointed posts about how he keeps going back to square one. I think the thing to remember is that he is not on some predictable, linear path here where he has to progress from bad to good. His mind is operating on two planes at this moment, one unconscious and one conscious. He doesn't realize how much he is unconsciously becoming Pakhi's husband while consciously trying to make her leave. It is only when his conscious goal is realized and Pakhi leaves that he is even going to be aware of everything he was unconscious of so far. As long as he can't win, he will want to but once he wins he will find that victory completely empty.

In fact the process has already started with his sister suffering the results of a similar betrayal. Girish could have told Lavanya about Naina's parentage right off the bat, but he didn't. He let her think that they were in this together, that adopting Naina was a way to make their lives complete. He let her get completely attached to Naina, become a mother as she said yesterday, and then told her the truth. Had he told her before, there is no guarantee that she would have forgiven him but it would have at least been one less loss. The way he did it now, she has to suffer the loss trust in her husband, the loss of her marriage as she knows it and the loss of her essentially "new-born" baby.

It's the same with Pakhi. Had Anshuman been honest at the beginning she would have lost a dream, that's it. Now she will lose a man she truly loves, her child and her family. TP is heartbreak central these days, potential and actual!

Beautifully said! As you rightly pointed out, right now his main issue is that Paakhi isn't letting him win. And all he can think of is how to outdo her smartness and get HIS way. The problem is he doesn't know what he would have to face if he does get his way. Right now his mind is in too much of a muddle to even think of the long-term consequences. Right now he just wants his plans to succeed. Indeed his success will be completely hollow once he realizes what all he has lost out on in the name of maintaining his image. I think he is up for a VERY rude reality check when everything will blow up on his face REAL badly!
As far as Lavanya is concerned, why do I feel she will now empathize with Paakhi? Since now she understands the pain of betrayal, she might cut some slack on Paakhi for she knows even Paakhi will be in for some serious heartbreak soon ...

@AreYaar: Thanks so much for pointing me in the direction of the song lyrics! How beautiful and apt they are indeed. It makes the way they play it during all the scenes with Anshuman's guard down more meaningful as this is the conversation that is silently going on between the two hearts and souls, with Pakhi of course being able to sense it and Anshuman being his oblivious self!

There is no doubt that Anshuman has come to respect Pakhi a great deal. If nothing else, he considers her a very worthy opponent. It's the most interesting entry point into love and romance that I have seen till date!

As for Lavanya, I get the feeling that when she shows up at the door all broken, nobody is going to know how to handle her other than Pakhi. Anshuman will probably not be able to control his own anger and will say something tactless. In that moment I predict that he will need Pakhi more than he ever has before. Lavanya will be too distraught and desperate to care where the empathy is coming from, I think, and she too will cling to Pakhi. This is just my prediction though.

@Dolly-heart: I can see that you are very angry with Anshuman and rightly so but I can't agree with you on the fact that he is totally void of emotions, or even morals. He has not been totally at ease with the way he is treating Pakhi and I believe there has been a lot of softening... which he has even acknowledged with his observation that he can't refuse even the smallest of gestures from her like lunch at the office. The rest will take time to work itself out and I too can't wait to see his realization of his feelings.

@Maham: I couldn't have said it better! In the practical light of day, with everything back to normal, it is easy for Anshuman to ignore his conscience and continue with his original mission. However, the change has taken place deep down within him and that part of him can't help but respond to Pakhi's prompts as though he is a puppet in her hands.

I am so excited about Girish too! I thought he was too sweet before and way too preachy. I was also not impressed with the fact that instead of just telling Pakhi the truth, if he was so against Lavanya and Anshuman's plotting, he plotted against them, using an innocent Pakhi herself! He was always too quick to talk and too slow to act and I am happy to see him have to confront that inconsistency in himself.

@sallybaby: Yup, his ego is going to get in the way until he learns that there is something better waiting if he just gives it up entirely. Pakhi and Ayaan are both too smart to be fooled for long and they have both sort of understood the other now. I don't see much keeping them apart!

@monaco: Thanks! Yup, sometimes you have to get what you want to realize it was not what you needed.

@black_haze: Yup, as several of us have observed, this is a competition to Anshuman rather than a question of his own and his child's life. Rude reality check for sure when he realizes just how immature and short-sighted he has been!

@Sama:
Thanks for liking the post! We need all kinds to enjoy the show; those who don't feel like talking much about it and those who can't seem to stop!

Thanks all for your posts! What a great discussion! Sorry for the delay in responding.
