Raas Leela in NY as Deepika spends b'day with Ranveer

Okay, so we were given to believe that Deepika Padukone rang in the New Year with parents, Prakash and Ujjala Padukone, and sister Anisha, in Maldives.

But after spending some quality time with her family in the beach country, the actress flew out to the Big Apple for some 'me' time. And 'good friend' Ranveer Singh was there to keep her company.

Though Deepika has repeatedly stated that she is still single, the Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela co-stars were linked romantically before the film's release. And Ranveer was one of the early birds at the party she hosted to raise a toast to a year that took her to the top of the box office list. But the next day Deepika flew out without the actor by her side.

A little over two weeks later however, the duo stepped into a New York eatery together. And onlookers reveal that while Ranveer was comfortable with the attention they received from fans, Deepika was not too keen to interact with them. He happily obliged requests for photographs but she left in a huff after a group of star-gazers surrounded them.

Deepika turned 28 on January 5, and while fans back home saw her on the couch with Priyanka Chopra on Karan Johar's chat show, the actress was actually partying with Ranveer in the Big Apple on the day.
