" Apnne hi paani mein ghul kar khatam ho jaana, baraf ka naseeb hai."
" The fate of ice is sealed. It will melt in its own water and... DIE."
Rudra , honestly, is SCARY ( ok, he is HAWWTTT news but that is not the point here) and not in the conventional sense. He is dangerous because he is way too intense , too lonely, locked up in an ivory tower ( and usually this reference is used for girls ) and well... he is burning... burning... constantly. Everytime he comes into the frame, he kills all metaphors of a burning candle. The boy emanates emotional disturbia and psychological hypnosis in one go. His mental, emotional state , his sense of realism , his sense of being at the center of a metaphysical world is CAPTIVATING. But that's exactly from where the danger springs . Rudra is ALL CONSUMING and destructive without even raising his finger. Its like you come into his contact and well, consider your life OVER and turned into a before-Rudra and after-Rudra phase. Consider this:
1. Rudra behaves as though he cares two hoots about Paro - Putting her unconscious form on the hot sand and distancing himself by a mental mile. He doesn't even move a muscle on his face as he refers to her and Binduri in a 'Ye ladkiyaan' package deal. He throws water at Paro just like you and I throw water at a 'desert cactus' that doesn't need water. But... the moment he hears that her name is Paro and she is getting 'married', he turns and looks at her as though someone is already stealing away this beautiful stranger. He doesn't speak a word to Paro and uses his officers and Binduri for communication - but when he looks at her through the mirror - Paro's heart skips beats and she feels what she has never felt as a 'woman'.
2. The junior officer behaves like an Ekta Kapoor Bahu and cribs, complaints and grumbles about 'ye do ladkiyaan' from the desert to the HQs - desperate to put all the blame on the two girls. Rudra calmly keeps cutting him and when his patience brims over, Rudra still maintains his calm, slips on his Ray Bans and smoothly labels the officer as 'Nancy' and 'worthless'.
3. Rudra doesn't cry, sing emotional dukhee gaane aur get sad flashbacks of a rootha bachpan. He refuses to say what and how he feels . He refuses to acknowledge feeling feelings. But hey! He thinks of his father - he misses his 'Ranaawat' . He tries to pull his father out of the misery of a promiscuous wife - he tries to feed him, he tries to call him. And what does Ranaawat tell him? I can't forget your Mom because you have got her eyes. Go blind! Maybe then, i can forget her... Rudra withdraws into his purgatory...Its not that he doesn't try reaching out - he does , in his 'Rudra' style... but why should he? There are no open arms waiting to embrace him. Not even his father's because you can clearly see it today. Rudra's father made his growing years only more MISERABLE by telling him not just tales of wicked beautiful women, but also telling him that he is a part of that unfaithful beautiful woman...
Point being, Rudra is too bottled and vulnerable. His intensity is his REFUGE and everytime he tries to turn back and give someone a second look - they don't open their arms for him. So, Rudra, with no one to say 'Hey! I got your back' marches on... melting into his own water. Struggling with his disturbia , his 'silence of the lambs' existence and his grossly wrong sense of the metaphysical.
Rudra is not healthy at all. He needs HELP. Because if he breaks, he will take down everything with him... and this is when your concern for Paro jumps to the fore.
Paro - as fragile , guileless, pure and compassionate as a butterfly . So sensitive that even a flower can bruise her. How will she even stand in front of Rudra ? How will she survive him? How and why will she make an effort to disrobe Rudra and force him to see the sun? He is everything that a man or a woman shouldn't be - why will she love him? ...Rudra is a Goliath and it will take more than a lifetime to pull him out of where he is. I am not saying Paro cannot do that. SHE CAN AND SHE WILL! But this love will be an all-consuming and all-exhausting love - its like , no matter how much she loves him tomorrow or day after , it will never be enough. Rudra is way too damaged for comfort and those Ray Bans are such a FACADE!
The girl is struck by Rudra already. He is spamming her existence and has seeped into her dreams as a NIGHTMARE - means a dream inverted. If you look at the scene of Rudra spraying Paro with water as though she is a bed of saplings, you can see that until they sit in the jeep, Paro either keeps looking down or else at Rudra , even when the JO is blabbering. She sits in the jeep and is talking to Binduri - but she senses someone's eyes on her. Where? In the rear view mirror and you can see how disturbed and lost for heartbeats she looks. She is not repulsed or scared by his blood on her clothes. She feels it on her fingers and goes into a distant gaze...and just when you think everything is returning to normalcy and she is all set to wed, Rudra returns to her in her sleep - reminding her that he is the greatest oxymoron of her life - Dream and nightmare rolled into one. And Paro still doesn't get the message. She will be seen seeking refuge from Rudra only to get it much later that Rudra is her refuge.
But the road is pretty hard for Paro. Just check out the scene of Rudra looking at the bullet graze on his arm in the bathroom. Rudra ko zakham bharne ki nahiin, zakham jalaane ki aadat hai.
For the rest, Thakur Uncle ROCKED as he tried to twist-scare Paro and tried to suffocate the Rudra-phangirl in poor Binduri. But , but, but... Thakurain aunty can calm him down.Interesting scene.
Next week? Oh well...
