Hussain Kuwajerwala's brand equity has increased hugely post-Nach Baliye 2. But Balaji is apparently refusing to pay him his asking price for making a comeback in Kyunki…

Homecoming? Hussain with wife Tina

Hussain Kuwajerwala is desperately trying to get back to Balaji Telefilms (after a gap of three years) post-Nach Baliye2. The actor apparently has quoted a huge amount as remuneration, for playing the role of Chirag in Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, and Balaji is yet to consider his proposal. Also buzz is that actor Amit Mistry is now being considered for the role of Chirag. According to the grapevine, Kumkum might go off-air soon and so the actor wants to take up some quality work.

Says a source in the production house, "Since Hussain has become more popular post- Nach Baliye 2, the actor now wants to cash in on his success as much as possible and reinforce his position in the market. And what better way than to work with Balaji, especially after Ketki Dave and Tuhina have been called in again in the show. But it seems Hussain is now acting pricey, thus putting the production house in a fix."

Talking about Hussain's comeback in the show, senior creative head, Nivedita Basu says, "Hussain certainly wanted to come back in Kyunki… and he showed great deal of interest as well. He had spoken to Ketki Dave about his keenness to work with us and that's why we got in touch with him for the role. But now he claims to have a tight schedule and cannot give us the required dates. I don't know about the money that he has asked. We do want actors who are easily available and do not want any date hassles."

Adds Nivedita, "We have spoken to Amit Mistry for the character of Chirag but have not zeroed in on him as yet. We have been auditioning many people for the character of Chirag."

Tuhina, who plays Hussain's wife Prajakta in Kyunki…says, "I think there is some communication gap between Hussain and Balaji. As far as I know, Hussain is busy with Kumkum and Indian Idol 3. I have heard that he had spoken to Ketki Dave about making his comeback in Kyunki… and I think every actor has the right to quote his or her price."

Since Hussain was unavailable for comment, Hussain's wife Tina decided to speak on his behalf, "Hussain spoke to Ketki about Chirag's comeback in the show. And after this conversation, Balaji got back to him with an offer. But Hussain had to refuse because he already has three shows in hand. There is absolutely no truth about him quoting a big amount."
