Part 15
Nandini steadied herself somehow and started to burn the window grills using the welding machine in her hand. The foam created slowly burnt the iron rod; enough for nandini to push through.
After few attempts finally she was done, she threw the machine and started pulling away the rods. Another few minutes the window was safe enough to jump! The edges of the iron grills was sharp though, nandini jumped away nevertheless. When she heard yash calling out "Kriti!", nandini couldn't stop herself!
Nandini walked through the backyard of the lab finding an exit door. Sure it was, at the far corner. Nandini slammed the door to draw their attention. She heard footsteps and soon Ankith stood infront of the door, she could see him through the glass frame in the door. A shocked ankith fired questions at her, all nandini could do was nod her head asking him to shut his mouth.
"STOP! I will explain everything. Now open the door. Common!!!" nandini insisted.
"You dumbo! If we could open this f**king damn door, why would we be stuck here in first place?" ankith asked her back limping, his leg had a huge wound he was hiding from nandini.
She heard another footsteps and then yash, kriti and meghana too stood behind ankith. Nandini looked away.
Before they could fire further question she replied "I will explain everything! First we have to get you all out of here..-"
"and for that we need to break the door!" ankith cursed.
Nandini studied the door, and found a wooden rod that was placed against it. She tried to pull it away, but the rod was slammed to the door using the screws. Nandini remembered there was a screw driver near the welding machine, without a word she ran back.
"why the hell is she here?" she heard yash comment before she ran away.
When nandini caught hold of the screw driver, she sensed the short circuit. That was the only thing left to worsen the situation! Damn!! She could feel the short circuit almost everywhere in the building. she had to get them out as fast as possible!
Nandini came back soon with a screw driver in tow, but something was paining inside her. Something was wrong in her body she thought absent mindly. She chuckled; her senses had given up long back! Even if anything would go wrong she wouldn't know!!
Yash and ankith peeped to see what nandini was doing. Yash snickered "she cant do it!" he said in a low voice to get a glare from ankith, and then meghana and kriti too! What all his friends were on the opposite side now? Great!
Nandini couldn't focus. Her hands were shivering. Her vision was getting blurred. Being anaemic wasn't helping at all! How she wished she could have been in healthier condition now. Focus and concentration was something that nandini had mastered herself in! then why today she felt so weak? As though something burning inside her. Something something.
She touched her abdomen tiredly, why she couldn't focus? And then she felt something damp in her abdomen. When she checked her fingers, she found blood! She was bleeding.
She sat down on the door step hiding from ankith and yash. She checked again. She was bleeding indeed! Damn it! When did she get hurt?
She recalled the feeling of some pain wash through her veins when she jumped off the window! She checked her body for any further cuts. There was one at her shoulder. She sighed. She wont be able to hold it long. She knew! But before anything could happen to her, she had get Yash and others out of this building at any cost.
Taking back the screw driver she tried to focus again, this time she heard a voice from inside "She cant do it man! We are stuck here!! Damn.. out of all the people in this world, why only her? Why did she of all people came to save us! Ugh! She wont be able do it!! She wont..!!!"
Her eyes turned red, how dare he? She thought coldly. Glaring at the wooden rod, she focused with all her might. Turning the screw several time, she put all her strength in it. Due to high concentration against her nerves, tears collected in her eyes blurring her vision. Nevertheless she tried. And she succeeded!
Throwing away the rod, she pulled the door open. Her eyes still red. All energy that was remaining in her body was drained out. She knew she would collapse any moment now.
Ignoring the shocked look of yash, nandini went ahead and she took kriti, meghana and ankith in a group hug.
"nandini.. we.." kriti started only to cut of by nandini "no time for all that. Make it fast! We have to get out of his building. it will collapse any moment!"
"What?" all asked in unison.
"the stairs have fallen down, there is no support for this building. the help is on the way but we have to get out of here as soon as possible hurry up!!"
Everyone walked out of the lab, and reached the window nandini had jumped off minutes ago. "no! we cant go through there!" nandini said.
"why?" yash asked. For the first time, she could feel he was talking to her genuinely without any cold shoulder.
"short circuit! And there is no way out from there, the stairs through which I came is no more. we have to take other route!" she said.
There were few juniors along with them who was scared as hell. Meghana and kriti comforted them "which way?" ankith asked.
Nandini thought for a while and then she recalled "Hostel! Guys do you remember that escape route through store room of girls hostel?" nandini asked kriti and meghana.
"yes yes! But, how do we reach there? The compound wall that separates this building and the hostel is very big!" meghana cursed.
"may be! But we can try.. common .. lets see!" nandini pulled the gang.
They all reached the compound wall, that separated new building and the hostel.
"the bricks over there is not strong, lets try pushing them away.. may be we can make a hole through it?" nandini asked. But yash noticed something else
"you are bleeding!" he said with a concern and horrified voice. Kriti looked at nandini alarmed. "you are hurt? Where? How? Show me!!" kriti shrieked examining nandini.
Nandini glared at yash, who happened to glare her back with same concerned expression "array nothing!.. can we talk later? First lets get out of here!!!" nandini reminded kriti again. Kriti reluctantly agreed and ordered nandini to get first aid as soon as they reach out. Nandini agreed with pursed lips.
When boys were busy digging the hole through the compound wall, nandini felt her vision blur again. She was going weak. Her body wasn't in her control anymore. She couldn't make a fist; she knew it, she wont be able to make it.
Juniors were the first ones to cross the building. Nandini heard the sound walls falling down. She knew building would completely collapse any moment. Ankith and meghana moved out next. Yash moved out behind them, so that she can help others.
"Nandini come on.." yash called. Surprised, nandini looked up to meet his eyes. There was concern in his eyes. He looked at her genuinely, not with hatred filled eyes. For the first she looked at her like any other normal girl, not a desperate one who had a crush on him. A small contended smile crept on her lips when yash forwarded his hand to her. All nandini had to do was take a step, hold his hand and reach him. But life wasn't that simple right?
Nandini heard a kid yelling for help. She turned around and found a hand raised for help at the corner of the building beside the window..
[A/n : not the same one nandini had jumped off, this is the different one ].
The kid was stuck between the bricks. Kriti moved forward to get the kid. Nandini pulled her back. "you go.. I will get the kid!" nandini said to kriti.
"no.. you are hurt..i will go.." kriti replied ready to go in the direction of the kid.
Yash asked them to hurry up.
Nandini turned to kriti "GO!" she said. Kriti looked at her confused and then glared at her. "you are hurt you go first! I will get the kid!" she said.
Nandini smiled at her. Yash was waiting for nandini, and he also had to wait for kriti who was behind her. Nandini pushed kriti forward. She tripped over and fell to the other side. "Go kriti! Yash needs you!" nandini said with a tear drop in her eyes. Shocked kriti now was in tears.
Yash held kriti before she fell down. Kriti hugged Yash, who hugged her back safely.
he then turned to nandini, "nandini.. come on.." yash said in a voice, that he knew what exactly nandini was trying to do. His eyes said he wouldn't let nandini be a martyr!
"Ankith needs meghana, yash needs you.." nandini said in a low voice. The energy in her voice was gone. "Yash.. take care of kriti please.. GO from here! GO GO!!!" nandini shoved them away. with reluctant steps yash moved back. As much as he didn't want to go, he had to take responsibility of those who were with him. He didn't have a choice. And for the first time in these years he saw the real nandini. Now he hated himself more than ever! he didnt deserved to loved/ liked or crushed or whatever by her.
Nandini walked in the direction of the kid, just as she had taken her first step, a huge piece of concrete fell to the spot where she had been standing seconds before.. Nandini turned around frightened. The way was now closed. She couldn't go back now. The concrete material blocked the hole they had dug through the compound wall completely. Taking deep breath she dragged herself to the place where the kid was stuck.
"Are you okay honey?" nandini asked slowly pushing away the bricks that had fallen upon the kid. With tear strained eyes the kid hugged nandini.
"relax.. you are fine now.. common lets get you out of here!" nandini lifted the kid in her arms only to fall back. "Didi you okay?" the kid asked. Something burned inside her again. Nandini then realized what had happened to her. She smiled at the kid with a nod. She lifted the kid again with all her strength and placed her on the top of the compound wall. She couldn't climb it, atleast she can make the kid cross it safely.
Nandini's height or her strength didn't let her jump of the wall. "didi.. come on.. lets go!!" the kid pulled nandini's hands "didi will come later okay? You go first!" nandini said. The kid shook her head in negation. "you come with me!" the kid insisted.
Nandini knew it was a waste argument when the kid was determined, so she pushed the kid. The kid fell to the other side without any hurt. Nandini knew the ground outside the hostel premises was full of hay [ heaps of dry grass ]! It wouldn't harm the kid. And she heard the faint cries of the kid asking nandini to come along "Listen! Go safe! Didi will come soon!! If you don't go, didi will not come!!" nandini yelled holding her stomach. Reluctantly the kid ran away crying.
Nandini's hands were full of blood, closing her eyes nandini pulled away the iron rod that had pierced itself in her stomach. She didn't knew she got stabbed by the rod, hell! She didn't even feel it until she carried the kid. Now she knew she wont survive! It was time for her to bid bye to this world.
She laughed sardonically at her life, it was just another movie story wasn't it?
Crush, Friendships, Heart Breaks, flashbacks!! And the final high-volt-thriller-drama! What an epic movie it could be!?

"Where is she ??" Adhish asked yash. Yash, kriti meghana and ankith looked down.
"I asked WHERE IS SHE?" adhish repeated his voice raging.
"She di..didnt come.." yash said with a breaking voice.
Adhish glared at kriti, "did you know she came there just for your sake?" Adhish growled at kriti. A tear escaped her eyes as she stood shocked. "And you guys call yourselves her friends!" Adhish snickered. " I am going to get her!" he announced.
But the Fire extinguishers and police officers didn't let him go. They insisted on searching nandini themselves. Adhish sighed, he had to think of something. Yash and Adhish shared a look.

Her phone vibrated inside her pocket. Nandini sat on the corner where there was sand heap. Resting herself, she let out deep breaths.
Next to her there was a window, she placed her head on the window pane, her hand slowly caressing the side of the window. she could see the picture of Yash and Kriti hugging. how securely yash had held her..
When she checked her phone there were so many missed calls and number of texts, all from Adhish. Nandini smiled. She opened the new text message she had received.
where are you?'
Nandini laid back on the sand, recalling her past.
Adhish was a young boy, who used to visit his sister on vacations. Nandini being navya's neighbour as well as her dear friend and thus she came across Adhish.
The first time they met, she was 4 year old and Adhish was 3 years elder to her. She smiled at him, forwarding her tiny hand for a handshake. But he didn't smile or shake her hands, instead he simple messed her hair and ran away. Nandini had swore to destroy every length of his hair! And that's how it all started.
They fought, they argued, they teased and it went on and on. She would wait for him with baited breath every vacations.. and when he did, she would ignore the heck out of him; which would lure him to play pranks on her and annoy the hell out of her! that was them! Adhish & Nandini.
Every night, nandini used to sit on the beach rocks and stare at the sky. Her house was close to the beach and she had taken all the advantage of that! Soon, he became her partner in sharing this particular habit of her's.
He would simply sit next to her without a word and they would stare at sky or sometimes at the tides for hours! The silence was comforting for both of them. they never spoke in such situation. One day, she had found him sketching something on the rock. It was a stick figure of a girl sitting in rock and staring at the moon. Nandini knew he had drawn picture of her. but she never asked. Since then she wanted to draw like him! She never knew, she would become much better than him!
That day she was sitting by herself staring at the tides. She was 13 year old. Just stepped into the world of teenage! He came and silently sat next to her. instead of staring at the sky or the sea, he was staring at her. "Anything wrong?" she asked breaking the rule of silence. He stared at her some more, his eyes dark and apologetic. And then he hugged her and gave her a lingering kiss on her cheeks. Nandini was stunned. She didn't know what to do. Smack him? Or kiss him back? She did none. And he left before she could think further. What she didn't know was, he would never come back! Navya told her that he was gone, forever.
As much as nandini hated him since, she hated the truth. The truth that Adhish was her first crush. First love.
Parting is a sweet sorrow, that I shall say goodnight till it be morrow..'
She messaged him back. She knew he would understand the meaning. She also knew why she had quoted Shakespeare.
This was the words he had carved on the rocks, the last time they had met. She had seen it weeks later! And she had read the Romeo Juliet 10 times to understand the meaning. It never meant he would never return. It only meant his return is complicated. It only meant their relationship was complicated. The 13 year old Nandini had understood it. But the 21 year old nandini knew another deep meaning inside the quote.
That, she was Juliet and he was her romeo!

oh btw aise koi bi scenes mere life mein nahi hua hai 😆 i know this SS is kind of inspired from my life, but none of the scenes i have used here is real. i mean i just took one situation from my life and manipulated it to something else. and i am not a sketching artist either! oh and i dont have any "bachpan ka khaas dost" -Adhish, yet in my life 🤣
