Topic: It's almost bizarre that those who are educated are extremely small minded.
Evening all, well its evening here in England :)
I am not a regular viewer of this show I often watch it when I'm up early in the morning and the show is on. I just wanted to type down a few thoughts about the characters that are shown in this show or the kind of message I believe is being, perhaps, passed on.
Mind me I actually do not remember most of the characters from the show. I do remember Laajo and Nikhil as they are the main lead.
The house that Laajo lives in currently is a house full of educated people yet they come across so small minded don't they? I am sure that education in any country, or any school in the world teaches us that we're all the same and that we all are human. Education most certainly teaches that we are different from one another but not superior. We all lack something from one another but doesn't mean we are any less. These people that are so westernised and so educated seems to hold Laajo worthy less of even being a human or even being a wife. They say that she's incapable of being Nikhil's wife or their daughter-in-law but they seem to fail to understand that being a wife doesn't involving knowing english or knowing how to party with other people with high status. They seem to be ignorant of the fact that actually being a wife simply means loving your husband and taking care of him for better or worse. That's what I believe anyway. Being a daughter-in-law surely means providing care and love for others in your family.
It seems almost unreal that the educated ones in Indian TV shows almost look down on people who couldn't have the same lifestyle as them yet in school we teach people that there are people in the world that do not have the same opportunity as because of various reasons but it by no means that we teach them that they are inferior to you. I feel that it has been dragged too long for centuries that such characters are still around. I feel that its high time the television takes a bold step where educated people freely accept other people who are not the same as them. There is no need for characters like Laajo to go through tests and trials to prove herself to be worthy of being a wife of a rich and educated man.
Most educated people fail to fathom that yes people like Laajo might not be able to have the knowledge to live in a society like theirs but what about them lacking the knowledge to live in a society where Laajo lives. Doesn't that then mean that they're uneducated for society like theirs? - are they not then both the same?
Maybe it's high time that we take further steps and bring about characters with fresh thinking and open minds.
Kind Regards
