i decided to start a new fanfic! it will have iqbal as shiv! enjoy!

Part 1:

"Welcome to our High School Miss. Gauri." Replied the principal of East High School. "It is a pleasure to have such a bright and talented student like you here with us."
"Thank you, sir." Gauri replied with a smile. This had been the 4th time this year that Gauri had changed schools. Every school she went to, people would make fun of her because she was a genius and no one wanted a nerd in their school. Even though Gauri was very smart, she was very
beautiful too. Her long dark brown hair fell just below her shoulders and her eyes had a twinkle showing her innocence. Her blue knee length skirt and a white halter-top suited her perfectly. Gauri's lips were glossed with a bit of pink. Her face was covered with a bit of blush and she had a twinkle of achieving something in her beautiful dark brown eyes. She didn't look anything like a nerd or a geek. In fact, she looked like a sensational popstar. She was flawless and very beautiful.

"May I leave?" She asked looking at the principal as he was looking down at some files.

"Yes you may. I'm sure you'll find our school a great place to achieve anything you may be looking for." Mr. Kapoor replied to her with a smile.
"Yes. I like this school already." Gauri gave him a faint smile and left in search of her first class room through the crowded halls of
students.

'All of them are just here to be busy with their personal lives with their girlfriends or boyfriends.' Gauri thought to herself. 'But me—' she was interrupted by a muscular arm that pushed her against the wall.
"Hey beautiful." The guy replied. He was quite handsome, just his bad behavior was the problem. "What's the matter? Scared?" He smirked.
"What do you want?" Gauri said trying to push him. Gauri just noticed that the crowded halls were now silent and deserted. It was only she and this guy in the hall. Alone. With no one that could even help her. She looked at his eyes, which had a glint of mischief in them.
"Nothing much. You're new here, and well I give all the new students special attention." He grinned at her.
"Just leave—" Gauri was interrupted yet again.
"Shiv, just leave her. She's new. Give her a break." A voice came from behind and the guy, Shiv, she was guessing, looked behind as he slowly let go of Gauri.

'Thank goodness' Gauri thought. Gauri left there and went to her class. She was mad at the guy because due to him, now she would be late for her class and would receive a punishment. She cursed him calling him a monkey and other childish things. She entered her 1st hour, Science, and found the teacher in the middle of a lecture. She slowly went in and tried not to be noticed by the teacher but that was one of her stupid ideas. The teacher had obviously noticed her and gave her a detention. Gauri was fumed at the so-called Shiv.
'That dumb head. What does he think of himself? He got me—Gauri Desai—a detention? Oh my gosh, the guts he has. I ha—.' The door opened and Gauri was taken out of her thoughts. It was Shiv. 'How can that be? He's in my class too?' She looked around and found the only seat empty was the one next to hers. Then she glanced at Shiv and saw him grin as he noticed her and the empty seat. Shiv approached the seat and Gauri wished she hadn't come to this school. It was only her first day and she had already received a detention. "We never finished where we left of." He whispered is her ear in a sly way that made Gauri get scared. Gauri had never faced a man as rude and bad behaved as him. She was cursing herself to have chosen this place out of all the others.

"Just back off. I'm not here for this." She said turning away from him and taking notes on what the teacher was saying.

"Oh really? Then what are you here for?" He asked in a naughty tone. Gauri being nice and patient just ignored him, but he kept blabbing away and didn't let her take any notes. Gauri got annoyed and yelled at him.
"What is your problem? Leave me alone!" Gauri shouted and the teacher was furious.

"Gauri Desai. OUT!" He yelled right back at her.

"But sir—" She tried to explain but it seemed like today just wasn't her day.

"OUT NOW!" Gauri gathered her books and walked past Shiv. He held her hand in a way that no one could see.

"This morning you were lucky that my friend saved you, but watch out at lunch."
He grinned and let go. Gauri furiously walked to the door and went out. Gauri hated it here. No one was her friend. They all thought that she was some kind of a weird and lunatic person.

Part 2:

Throughout the rest of her classes, she was okay, but Gauri knew that when lunch came, she would be in trouble. As she walked into the cafeteria, she sat at an empty table. Opening her lunch, she found a veggie sandwich, a juice box, a bag of barbecue chips, and a bag of Cheez-It. While she started eating her sandwich, Shiv appeared at the entrance. He was enraged at seeing someone at his table.

'How dare she.' He thought as he stomped over to his table. "What do you think you are doing here?" He demanded holding Gauri's arm. She let out a moan of pain but Shiv just grabbed harder. "I asked you what are you doing here at MY table?" He yelled and everyone was looking at the two.

"I… I didn't know this was your table." She claimed trying to free herself from his harsh grasp.

"Likely story. But I don't believe you!" He replied making a face of utter disgust. The same friend came over and tried to stop Shiv again.

"Stop it Shiv, she didn't know. Give her a break." He tried to explain to Shiv.

"Sahil, since when do you not side with your best friend? What has this third class girl done to you that you are siding with her?" He demanded.

"What did I ever do to you? I'll go away from this table, just leave me, please." Gauri replied between sobs. Her checks were dripping with tears. Sahil was persistent to stop Shiv from harassing Gauri. Deep inside he liked Gauri and fell somewhat in love with her at first sight.

"Fine. I'll leave you, but just because Sahil is begging me. But trust me, if I see you at this table again, I won't leave you!" Shiv said harshly throwing Gauri to the floor. "And take your lunch with you!" He demanded.

Gauri got up took her lunch and ran out of the cafeteria. Sahil was disappointed in Shiv. He had never behaved like this before to anyone. "Dude, what's gotten into you? You were never like this before."

"I don't know Sahil, when ever I see her, my blood boils! I can't stop it." Shiv replied with the moments flashing into his head. Saying that Shiv sits at the table and a girl comes up to him. "Hey babe." He replies pulling her onto his lap.

Gauri ran away and went to the library. Never has she been so insulted in front of everyone. What was his problem? She made a mistake. Why was he so rude about it? What does he think of himself? He had total issues. Thinking about the incident, Gauri finished her lunch and went to check out a book. "May I help you?" Replied a husky and sexy voice from behind her. She turned around to find Shiv's friend, Sahil. "I'm Sahil. Sahil Chopra." He extended his arm in front of her. Gauri let out a small smile.

"I'm Gauri. Gauri Desai." She replied in a sweet voice that Sahil was amazed. She was the perfect kind of girl for him, but somehow he felt that she was made only for Shiv. She shook his hand and they became friends. Gauri asked why Shiv was acting like that and Sahil told her that he was just arrogant and he never met a girl that didn't like him that's why. Gauri liked Sahil; he was nice and really friendly, unlike Mr. Bossy Shiv.

Part 3:

After a while, lunch was over Sahil wanted to see Gauri's schedule. "Biography. We have that together. Do you mind if I take this charming lady to her class?" Sahil asked knelling down with his hand out. Gauri simply blushed and took his hand. They walked hand in hand to biography, but something had to ruin this happy friendship.

"Sahil!" Called a voice that both knew really well from behind. "Who's your new girlfriend?" He grinned not noticing that it was Gauri. At this point, they both turned around and Gauri looked down. Shiv's blood started to boil again because of this girl. "What are you doing with this third class girl?" Then he saw their hands intertwined and became furious for some odd reason. Quickly Sahil let go of her hand with a sorry look on his face.

"I… I just met her in the library and was taking her to her class." Sahil mustered up to say, and Shiv's lips formed into a grin.

"Why don't I take her?" He said devilishly, and Sahil looked at Gauri and then back to Shiv.

"No. Really it's ok." Sahil replied grabbing hold of Gauri's hand again.

"Come on Sahil. I promise I won't mess with her much." He smirked looking at Gauri's angelic face looking down with no emotion of her face.

"Fine but only because I have to go to the bathroom." He replied and Shiv chuckled.

"K then. Give her here." He smiled with his hand extended.

"Come on Gauri. I'm really sorry, but Shiv is really stubborn." Sahil whispered. Shiv just rolled his eyes and waited for him to hand her over. "Here. Take care of her." Sahil replied putting Gauri's delicate hand into Shiv's muscular hand. When they touched, both Shiv and Gauri felt a little shock go through their bodies. "I'll see you in class." Sahil waved and ran out of sight.

"So, how'd you win my friends heart? With your beautiful face?" He asked touching her face making her look at him. Her breath got heavier. "Or these lips of yours?" He touched her lips coming closer as if her was about to kiss her but he just breathed on her face waiting for her reaction. Gauri felt the hot steam like breath on her face wanting to make her sweat. Shiv now took hold of her other hand and brought her closer. Their eyes locked and Gauri could see the softness of Shiv deep inside wanting to come out. Suddenly Gauri couldn't take it and looked away. Shiv realized what he was doing and let go of her. He combed his hair with his hand, and grabbed Gauri lightly and began to lead her to her next class. All the while, he thought about what he was about to do and grabbed onto her harder.

"Ah." She let out a small moan but he didn't notice. When they reached the classroom door, he let go of her hand and saw her holding her hand with her other hand. He saw the red marks because of his tight grip.

"Ga—" He was about to say sorry when he heard someone else yell her name.

"Gauri! Over here!" Sahil called out to her. Gauri left and Shiv looked at her going away towards his friend. He went in too as he was also in the class. For some reason, he was in all of Gauri's classes. When Gauri sat by Sahil, he saw the red marks on her hand. "What happened?" He asked taking hold of her hand into his and creasing it. Shiv's blood boiled.

'Why is he touching her? Only I can touch her.' Shiv thought as he went and sat by Gauri. "I'm sorry Gauri. It's just that I have a very firm grip and your hands are just to delicate." He replied looking at her gorgeous face.

"It's okay." Gauri replied with a faint smile that had somewhat of pain in it. Throughout the class, Shiv couldn't stand Sahil pampering Gauri. He decided to show the professor but he just sided with them saying they are a cute couple. Shiv became really angry.

'Cute couple my foot.' He thought as a girl approached her after class.

"Hi. I'm Rohani." She said while blinking her eyelashes for what seemed like a million times.

"Nice to meet you. I'm Shiv." He replied not interested in the girl.

"Yes, I know. I mean who doesn't know you." She replied touching his arm with a finger. She was being sweet. Now why couldn't every girl be like her? He thought refferring to Gauri.

Part 4:

The long day, which seemed like it would never end, was finally over. It was pouring outside and Gauri was trying to get a taxi without getting wet, but it didn't work. Nor did she get a taxi and on top of that, her clothes, and hair were all wet. Suddenly a car passed by and she tried to get the attention of it, but I kept driving by and got water all over her. 'Oh great.' Gauri thought. 'I should have listen to mom and taken my car.' Just then the car came in reverse and the window scrolled down. It was non other that Shiv. He checked her out head to toe and grinned and Gauri quickly covered herself with her hands and looked down. He could see her figurine and her hair was dripping onto her face. With all this, she still had her beautiful glow and looked beautiful and very innocent trying to cover herself up.

"Someone's looking ugly today." He laughed at his own joke. He faced the front. "Get it." He said in a stern yet dangerous voice. Gauri looked up at him and he was looking straight. "Now." He yelled. Gauri jumped a little and walked to the passenger side. Shiv followed her with his eyes and when she got in, began to drive. "Where do you live?" He asked not looking at her.

"Excuse me?" She asked.

"I said where do you live?" He replied.

"I… uh…" Gauri began to stammer.

"Don't worry, I'm not interested in coming to your house." He replied almost as if he had read her mind.

"I know but, my mom will be worried seeing me all wet." She came up with an excuse.

"Ok then, we'll go to the mall first." He replied turning to go to the mall. There was silence in the car for what seemed like forever until Shiv broke it. "Do you preffer Hollister or Abercrombie & Fitch?" He asked looking at her.

"I…. I don't know." She confessed.

"Ok. We'll go to Hollister as it's my favorite." He replied. Gauri just sat there looking out the window. Every now and then, Shiv would look at her for a second and then go back to looking at the road.

Dear Diary,

Today was a very hectic day. I met Shiv Kapoor today. He is really confusing to understand. At times, he's so mean that I feel like there is no one meaner than him in this world, but at the same time, I saw that he has a soft side deep inside of him. I don't know what is wrong with him but he got me new clothes and he paid. He wouldn't let me even take out my money. I know deep inside he is a good person. I also met Sahil today. We became really good friends and I really think that he is a sweet person. I wonder what tomorrow has in store for me.

Love,
Gauri Desai (g'night)

Part 5:

Of course, the day had just begun for Shiv. Him and his friends were going to go to his house for a party. He had told them to invite whoever they wanted to. Due to this, Sahil decided to invite Gauri.

"Hello. Gauri. It's me Sahil." He started.

"Oh hey. What's wrong? Why'd you call so late?" She asked in a worried voice.

"Oh, nothing like that, I just wanted to invite you to Shiv's party. I'll pick you up in about an hour. K?" He asked hoping she would say yes.

"K. Bye." She smiled and hung up. 'Shiv's party? I just hope nothing bad happens there.' She went to her closet and chose a pair of destroyed jeans and a gray Hollister sweater with a white Hollister shirt under it. She headed for the bathroom and took a shower. When she came out, she went and put a layer of lip-gloss and a bit of make-up. Hearing the door ring, she went downstairs with her cell in her hand and with her brown clogs on. She opened the door and saw Sahil.

"Hey. You look really nice." He complimented looking at her.

"Thanks." Gauri blushed and went outside locking the house. Her parents had gone on vacation while she was going to school for a month. They went to Australia trusting Gauri to keep the house safe and in tiptop shape.

On reaching the party, Gauri saw Shiv with a girl's arms wrapped around his neck. She tried to stay unnoticed by him but it was as if he was expecting her to come. Sahil was talking to his friends as he left Gauri at a table to enjoy her coke. Gauri looked around the house loving the dcor. It was absolutely beautiful. The tiles were ravishing. She had always wished to live in a house like this unaware of her future. Behind her she saw the ocean through a glass window. Awed by the scenery she decided to go outside and walk on the shore.

Ever since she was little, she had loved the ocean. It always seemed to calm her nerves. She sat on a rock observing the moon and the stars above. Suddenly a hand fell on her shoulder. It was the firm and muscular grip that she had experienced before. She turned around and saw Shiv. "May I sit here?" He asked.

"Sure." Gauri smiled and moved over so the Shiv could sit.

"You know Gauri, I love the ocean so I begged my parents to build our house here. Anyone could do anything just to see this breathtaking view. I really just love it here." Shiv said seeming really different from the Shiv that she had encountered in school.

Maybe, like everyone, Shiv had to be relaxed so that the good in him could come out. "Tell anyone that I was being nice and I'll skin you." He replied jokingly but there was a serious tone too. Gauri laughed and nodded. Maybe this was the beginning of a beautiful friendship.

Part 6:

Shiv's phone suddenly rang. "Hello."

"Hey honey. Can you come in? I'm really missing you," replied a voice.

"Sure, I'll be there in a while. Bye." He hung up and took one last look at the view. "Catch you later." He replied as he strolled inside.

'I guess I should be heading in too.' She thought and walked inside. When she entered, a slow song was on and Shiv was dancing with the same girl he was with earlier. She just decided to go sit at the table in case Sahil was looking for her, and infact he was worried about her. Gauri sat down next to him.

"Where were you? I was so worried about you!" He replied.

"I was just outside looking at the sky." Gauri replied with a smile thinking about it.

"Well, would you like to dance now that you're here?" Sahil forwarded his hand for her to take it. Gauri placed her hand in his and he gently guided her to the dance floor.

A pair of hazel eyes was stuck to Gauri and Sahil moving back and forth. It was clearly seen that the eyes contained jealousy and hatred. They were none other than Shiv's intense eyes. He couldn't believe his eyes. Was he seeing his best friend with Gauri? But why did it bother him? What was happening to him? Ever since Gauri came, he's been acting really different. He left the girl and went to the bar. He drank looking at the two dancing hand in hand.

"Thanks for dropping me off Sahil." Gauri smiled at her new friend as she bid him a goodbye.

"No problem Gauri. I can't just leave a beautiful girl to go home all alone in the dark." He flashed a smirk and left. Sahil left and Gauri was about to go in but a pair of muscular hands grabbed her by the waist and pinned her to the door. Gauri's heart pounded rapidly and her breath got heavier.

"So you like Sahil?" She heard his voice and it started ringing in her ears. Shiv? What was he doing here?

"Shi—" Unfortunately she couldn't finish her sentence, for Shiv interrupted her.

"Answer, god damnn it!" He yelled not caring who he possibly woke up. Gauri realized that Shiv wasn't in his senses. She didn't want him to get mad and do something that he would soon regret.

"I…. I…. he's just a friend." Gauri answered scared of Shiv's reaction, but he started laughing.

"Just a friend?" he laughed more. "He doesn't seem like just a friend to me!" he yelled and pounded his fist into the wall scaring Gauri even more.

Chapter 7-

"Please Shiv. Believe me. I don't like anyone." Gauri managed to say looking into his almond colored eyes. He reminded her so much of someone that she felt she knew. Gauri had hope that he would let go of her because she knew his soft spot was somewhere deep inside of him, trying to come out but his ego was too big to give any space to the delicate Shiv. Suddenly Shiv let her go and put his face in her palm.

"I…I'm sorry. I don't know what got into me." Shiv replied in a pleading tone. Gauri smiled at how cute he looked.

"It's okay. Why don't you come in for a coffee or something?" Gauri asked in a polite and sweet tone.

"Sure." Shiv grinned now starting to flirt with her. For some reason, Shiv felt that he knew Gauri for a long time. There was something about her that he recognized, but what? The two went in and Gauri had Shiv get seated at the table. She strolled to the kitchen and started making coffee for the two of them. "So…you live alone?" Shiv asked from the table.

"Not really. My parents are in Washington D.C. for some important work, so they left me here in Los Angeles so that I can go to school with out disturbance. My brother, Anupam is married to my bhabi, Ipshita, and, well, they live in South Carolina. They come visit every few months." Gauri explained her family to Shiv as she was making the coffee. "What about you?" Gauri asked in a polite manner.

"Well, my parents are busy and are always traveling somewhere. My brother goes to UCLA College here. I have a sister that is married and living her life with her husband. So basically, I'm the youngest around the house and get most of the love. Dadi loves me the most out of all my family. She stays close to my house just incase of an emergency. I try to keep her calm and happy."

"Wow." Gauri said in awe. Shiv was much more different than she had pictured after their first meeting. I guess they're right when they say 'Don't Judge a Book by its Cover,' Gauri thought. Shiv was so much more different than anyone knows him as.

"Yeah."

Gauri brought the coffee and some snacks that she had made earlier. "Here." She offered.

"Thanks." Shiv replied with a smile. How was he so open with Gauri? He had never been this open with anyone except his dadi and with his friends that he knew since he was little. Why was Gauri so familiar? The name, the attitude, it was all so familiar. He knew that he had known her once, but when?

"So friends?" Shiv forwarded his hand for Gauri to take. Gauri smiled innocently and nodded.

"Friends." Gauri shook his hand and smiled at the thought that she just made a new friend. 'I guess it's not so bad here. It's better than I thought it would be.' Gauri thought with a smile on her face.

"What are you smiling about? And why are you still holding my hand?" Shiv said in a flirtatious tone. Gauri quickly let go and wiped the smile off of her face.

"I… Well I was thinking that it's not so bad here."

"Hmmm. Yeah, only because I'm here. I mean, I'm the hottest guy in the world and now we're friends." Shiv started praising himself and Gauri giggled. 'He isn't so bad after all.'

*****

Ring! Ring! The alarm went off and Gauri couldn't believe it was already time to go to school. "Uff. Why do we have to get up so early?" She got up and went to the closet. She took out a pair of jeans and a nice Hollister orange top. Gauri went to the shower and stripped her clothes. Her leg stepped into the shower and she turned on the cold water letting all her worries wash away with the water down the drain. As she got out, she got dressed and began to dry her hair.

She ran out of the bathroom and slipped on a pair of 'Rocket dogs', grabbed her bag and ran downstairs to the kitchen.

Shiv had left really late yesterday. It was almost 4 when he had left. But never the less, they had fun talking and watching some TV. She grabbed a piece of toast and made her way outside with her keys. Today she wouldn't have any troubles.

*****

Class had begun, and Gauri was in her seat waiting for the professor to come in. To her surprise Sahil came in instead. He took the seat right beside Gauri and they started their 'hi, hello' conversation. Just than Shiv entered the classroom searching for Gauri. He saw her seated next to Sahil and he was touching her hands. Shiv was enraged. When he was about to walk up to them, the teacher entered the classroom. "Shiv, have a seat please." Gauri looked at the direction the voice came from and she saw an enraged Shiv. She knew this was a bad sign and she quickly let go of Sahil's hands.

Shiv took a seat behind Gauri and Sahil. He stared at Gauri the whole time. Every time Sahil would try to talk to Gauri, he would 'accidentally' throw his pencil at his chair so that he would turn to see an innocent looking Shiv wanting his pencil back. This carried on the whole hour. A jealous Shiv couldn't stand that Gauri was in the arms of some other guy, and that too his best friend, Sahil. He couldn't take it anymore. He would have to do something.

*****

Soon enough lunchtime approached. Today Gauri wasn't scared at all to go in the lunchroom and enjoy the lunch that she had made. Wait. What lunch? She had forgotten to make lunch. 'Oh shit.' She thought. Gauri sat down at a random table and hoped that Sahil could help her somehow. Shiv came in first and sat by Gauri. "What's up?" He asked looking at her worried face. Oh how he felt like taking her face and kissing her oh so passionately on the lips. He fought this feeling though.

luved the whole high school setting --- can be quite daunting time for anyone, no one is spared.

don't get me wrong - but isn't a sch meant for learning, where learned persons go....oh no it's a popularity contest that oh so biased n easy to compartmentalise people into little fractions, whether they want to or not. i emphathise with gauri she's being crucified for being way too smart, but in the same case they wouldn't have rolled out the red carpet if all she had were a few smarties rattling in the space between her ears. it's a case of ur damned if u do , and ur damned if u don't.

shiv the ever bad boy!!!! what is it with adolescent boys and their ever expanding egos!!! why does shiv's blood boil? maybe coz gauri didn't fall haplessly into a hypnotic trace on meeting shiv, unlike the rest of the female population that shiv knows!

nice to c gauri made a friend in sahil. seems like a decent fellow.

can't wait to read more.

that paragraph's about school is a place where people go to learn. but it covers so much more than just academics.... the other social aspect. where does one fit into the different groups: e.g. cheerleaders, jocks, nerds, dropuots, geeks, average joe etc. is it right to be labelled just on those things, without looking at the whole picture. kinda feel sorry for gauri and her intelligence caused her to be outcasted from her peers.
