Plot:
Idhu Kadhala mostly known as Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon is a star-crossed love story presenting an interesting contrast of personalities entwined in a relationship swinging between love & hate. Shruthi and Ashwin have diametrically opposite ideologies.
Ashwin lives with his mother's family (Patti, Akash, Anjali, Mama and Manorama attai) in Chennai at Shantivan (the name of their bungalow).
Sruthi had lived her all life in Coimbatore but then suddenly she gets into a situation, where she has to move to Chennai with her sister Priya to live with her attai Madhumathi.
Sruthi Kumari (Hindi: Khushi Kumari Gupta):
Shruthi is a simple and traditional girl deeply rooted in family values from Coimbatore. She believes in the strength of love, relationships, and have faith in God. Sruthi is an orphan, who lost her parents in a young age, then her mami, who she calls amma took her into her family, and after that she sees her mami as her mother.
Ashwin (Hindi: Arnav Singh Raizada):
Ashwin is a rich, arrogant and suave business tycoon with no belief in love or God. His closest emotional bond is with his older sister Anjali.
Anjali:
Ashwin's acca. She loves Arnav alot and always teases him. She is married and she is physically challenged as she walks with a plastic leg. She is very religous and does alot of poojai.
Priya (Hindi: Payal):
Priya is Shruthi's elder sister.
Priya understands and supports Sruthi in all matters. She is thoughtful and mature, as opposed to the impulsive Sruthi.
Ajay (Hindi: Akash):
He is Ashwin's and Anjali's cousin. Relate wise his father and Ashwin's mother are siblings. He is traditional and repect everyone. He works at Ashwin's fashion company.
Shyam:
He is a lawyer, who helps Sruthi from rowdies in Coimbatore. He becomes Sruthi's friend, who later helps Sruthi with a job in Chennai. His background is still mystirious. With Madhumati's permission, he moves into them as a payment guest. He lives in Chennai.
Madhumathi Atthai (Hindi: Buaji):
She is Priya and Sruthi's aunt. Their father's older sister, who lives in Chennai. Priya and Sruthi ends up moving to Chennai, and lives at her place.
Manorama Atthai (Hindi: Mamiji):
She is Akash's mother and atthai to Ashwin and Anjali. She loves makeup and new dresses, and she may be annoying to other people, but she loves her family unconditionally. Her well-known dialog is "Hello-Hi-Bye-Bye".
Patti (Hindi: Nani):
She is Ashwin's grandma. Relate wise Ashiwin's mother's mother. She is strict, but she cares about her grandchildren and sees them as her own children. After Ashwin's mother died, she took him and her sister into her, and had took care of them ever since.
Lavanya:
Ashwin's girlfriend. She is very modern, and loves fashion alot. She works at Ashwin's office.
