Ahem... yes she did more than her fair share of trying to rile her up..

wore her clothes, then walks up to her to return them and then rubs it in her face about uttaran and about her status!

Can't stand this Ben character for a variety of reasons 😆 Only reason, I'm ok is I'm getting to see a more vulnerable, passionate and human Jo!

In that scene, Jo was perfect sweetie...😃 neither over-the-top, nor the backing-down types!

I really really like her 😆. She's astute, slightly dangerous & seductive. What's there not to like!

But yes I loved her in this bit. Like a cat, with honey claws. 😆

Dear Tripti and ppluvkuch,

My take on this, for whatever it is worth is different.

Benazir's neat jab about being ready to accept ANY utaran of Jodha's was pointedly double meaning. Now Jodha did try to hold her own, but it was not a terrain that suits her, and she ended up looking both defensive and inadequate.

For example, that bit about the Shahenshah giving anything he chooses to a daasi, simply rolled off KT like water off a duck's back, and her comeback was far more to the point.

For Jodha Begum to tell someone like Benazir that the relations between Jodha and the Shahenshah were none of her business was ill considered; she should not have stooped to such a extent. It gave the other the opening to talk insultingly to a Shahi Begum about the Shahenshah favouring her; a piece of impertinence that should have been intolerable for a Begum.

Lastly, Jodha's remark about the Shahenshah choosing to pamper one pigeon or the other when the mood took him, and that this should not make that pigeon feel too big for its boots, was especially ill chosen, for it would apply perfectly to Jodha herself, and her present state.

To my mind, Jodha should have told one of her daasis to take the outfit and use it, and then walked off pointedly, leaving Benazir standing there at a loss.

Ruqaiya would never have indulged in any such exchanges with a kaneez. She would have handled the KT (khaas tohfa) with casual dismissiveness. Not demeaned herself by engaging in a tit for tat exchange with someone so far below her in rank

But the reason why I loved this exchange & Jodha in it ( though after I watched this scene again, I realised Jodha did look awkward) was that here was one rare instance , in which i felt Jodha was jealousy beyond the Position aspect of it.

Even when she was full of daasi (very glaring in-direct reference to her status as a Shaahi Begum) there was some sort of..Annoyed jealousy.

I cannot articulate it but I sensed it.

Also, Jodha is like that ( dignified yet making her point very clear beyond a certain border of heckling & being needled) with everybody. Barring Jalal, OF COURSE. 🥱

To see her talk THIS condescendingly & with derision about someone who normally, she would've not even taken notice of, or been un-failingly nice to, was a surprise.

This is why I liked this scene a lot.

More because, Jalal's plan is working like a CHARM! 😉
