Guys, let's not fight please.
Shaheer was cute as Brihannala (makes me look forward to the Virata episodes!), and he's doing well as Arjun too. He has improved significantly as Arjun. During the competition episodes, he was a bit stiff and awkward, but he has improved a lot.
The only problem is that the story is so fictitious, and the character of Arjun is kind of modern for those times. He and Subhadra talk too freely. Unmarried men and women back in those days did not chat like friends, lol. The Arjun-Subhadra scenes are cute but I can't enjoy them because they seem like Kali yug lovers. :P
Even during Rukmini haran yesterday, Arjun held Rukmini's hand while running away from Rukmi's men. I mean...yeah...I guess it makes sense that he would hold her hand to get away, but that so would not have happened in the dwapar yug. When an unmarried man holds and unmarried woman's hand, they are considered compromised. Society would expect them to get married, and Arjun was not related to Rukmini in any way. He was not her cousin or brother, so he should not have held her hand so freely, even if it was to rescue her.
But this is not the actors' fault. The execution is so faulty and the directors' do not seem to have done proper research on the etiquette of those times. That's why I am watching this show now just for entertainment. Until the story gets back in track (if it ever will), I am going to forget the Mahabharat I learned and pretend I am watching a daily show like anything else on Star Plus.
Personally, I find Shaheer a better actor than Saurabh. I am kind of disappointed with Lord Krishna's acting. He does not have that strong presence required to play God. He is a bit stiff and I'm hoping he improves down the line, but the last few episodes belonged to Arjun because he was so funny and cute as Arjun and Brihannala.
