Chapter 10

"Miss. Kaul," I said as I saw Antara close her eyes. "Miss. Kaul, aankhe kholo," I said. "Raghu, kya hua Antara ko?" Priya Aunty asked as she came running towards me. "Pata nahi. Aap please doctor ko phone karengi? Main isse is ki kamre mein leke jaata hoon," I said. "Haan, main abhi Dr. Kaul ko phone karti hoon," she said and walked away. I went upstairs and went to the room that Antara was sharing with Piya. I gently put her down on the bed and sat down beside her. I moved the stray lock of hair that was on her face behind her ear. "Kya ho gaya hain tume Miss. Kaul?" I said. "Antara," I turned and saw her dad.

I was standing on the other side of the bed as he did a check up on Antara. I asked him what happened to Antara. "Antara bhi na, bauht bhulakar hain. Do dino se apni dawai nahi li madam ne," he said. "Kaunsi dawai?" I asked. He explained to me that Antara was severely anemic and that if she went too long without her supplements, it could cause weakness, which is exactly why she fainted.

I slowly opened my eyes and saw my dad. "Papa," I said. "Antara, kitne dino se tumne apni dawai nahi li?" He asked. Uh oh. I had completely forgotten to take my medicine for the past 2 days. "Woh papa, do dino se," I said. "Antara, tume apna khayal rakhna chaiye. Shukar mano ki Raghu tumare saath tha," he said. I saw Raghu standing behind my dad. "Abhi mujhe wapas clinic jaana hain aur baki sab neeche sangeet ki tayaari kar rahe hain. Raghu kya tum please Antara ke paas rahoge? Isse shyam tak aaram karna hoga agar isse sangeet mein jaana hain aur dance karna hain," dad said. "Par papa, main yahan aunty ki madat karne aayie thi..." I said. I wanted to help with the preparations. "Uncle, aap iss ki baat mat suniye. Main iss ke paas rahonga," he said. "Theek hain beta. Aur Antara, please apni dawai lena maat bhulna," he said as he walked away. "Ok papa," I said with a frown. "Antara aisi shakal mat bano. Agar tumne apni dawai li hoti toh yeh problem hi nahi aati," he said. "Fine. Bye," I said. "Bye beta. Shyam ko milunga," my dad said as he gave me a kiss on my forehead and left.

I was left in the room alone with her. I could tell her that she was mad that she wasn't allowed to help. I went to her and handed her the medicine and poured her a glass of water. "Yeh lo," I said handing her the glass. "Thanks," she said and took her medicine. "Aur phele ke liye bhi thanks," she said. "Your welcome. I think ki ab tume aaram karna chaiye. Agar tume kisi cheez ki zaroorat ho toh tum mujhe bula lena, main yahin hoon," I said. "Ek minute, mujhe tumse kuch poochna tha," she said. "Kya hua?" I asked. "Well, ab jab hum ek doosre ko janne laga hain, toh I think ki hume dost ban jana chaiye," she said. "Haan, I think that that would be good," I said. "Toh aaj se hum dost?" she asked and extended her hand. "Dost," I said and took her hand. "Ab main tume tumare dost hone ke naate keh raha hoon, ki please aaram kar lo, ok?" I said. "Ok," she replied.

I was in the room for a couple of hours. Every time Antara made a sound I looked up and saw her sleeping peacefully. It was the afternoon and the curtains of the room were open. I saw the sunrays hitting Antara's face and that it was disturbing her sleep. I went to the curtain and closed them. The peaceful look returned on her face and went back to where I was sitting before.

I fell asleep after talking to Raghu. I woke up to the sound of Piya's voice. "Antara, chal uth na," she said. "Raghu kahan hain?" I asked. "Woh tayaar hone gaya. Tujhe sangeet ke liye tayaar nahi hona?" she asked. "Haan, hona hain," I said and got up.

I came out of the room looking for Piya. I couldn't manage to tie my dori so I needed her help. I called out but no one came.

I was walking by Antara's room when I saw her struggling. I was stuck between going to help her and going to get Piya or someone else to help her. In the end I decided to go and help her. I went up to her and took the dori.

That touch. It was, it was Raghu's touch. I could tell. But what was he doing here? I got another one of the weird flashbacks of some guy tying my dori. I realized that the touch that I felt in that flashback was the same touch that I felt when Raghu touched me. But how could that be? I didn't know Raghu before. "Ho gaya," he said and I turned to look at him. "Woh, thanks," I said.

When I touched, I felt as if I had gotten a shock. This situation seemed so familiar. I was getting another one of those weird flashbacks. "Ho gaya," I said and she turned around. Her face was a bit red and she thanked me while looking at the ground.

Before things could get anymore awkward, I quickly changed the topic. "Raghu, tum meri madat karoge? Mujhe samaj mein nahi aa ra ki main kaunsi earrings pehno. Uss din maine teen liye they. Tum meri help karoge na?" I asked. "Haan, dikha to sahi," he said. I showed him the three different ones I had. In the end he chose a pair of simple silver drop earrings. "Tumpe yeh simple si jewlry sabse zayada achi lagti hain," he said. I blushed and said "Thanks." "Tum tayar ho jao, main neeche chalta hoon," he said. He left the room and I continued to get ready. My mind kept wandering back to the flashbacks that I was having these days. I only started having them when Raghu came into my life. The more I tried to clear things up, the more confused I got. I gave up and went to Payal's room and helped her get ready.

What was happening? These weird flashbacks, they only started when I came to Kashmir and met Antara. Did she get these flashbacks as well or was I just going crazy?
