Great post Indi. Missed your posts and all the others from BFTP because life got in the way. Tried to keep up but couldn't. I visit occasionally and what do I see? A wonderful post and a lively thread about my favorite actor's capabilities!! I had to leave my comments. Yes, my favorite actor, Barun Sobti. It's strange up until I got hooked on IPKKND and ASR I've never had a favorite actor even in my teens and that was ages ago :-). I like some more than the others in BW and HW but none with the fervor I have for Barun. I think he is exceptional for someone who has not had acting lessons. The range of emotions he can emote is incredible and without even seeming to move a muscle. How does he do it? Don't know and don't care, just love him and bowled over by him on and off the set. Just wish he will have all the success he deserves.

It was on a boring Sunday afternoon in 2012 while surfing the web looking for who the best actor/actress were awarded to in BW for that year I happened to see his name for some TV awards. Saw gushing comments so thought will check it out. Till then I had never watched Indian serials in fact laughed at everyone who did, the big snob I was. Little did I know someone with amazing acting skills, a set of gorgeous caramel eyes and a smirk to die for was waiting to reel me in hook, line and sinker.

I remember the very first time I saw him in one of the IPKKND episodes that I randomly picked from a search of Barun on YouTube. Thought he was good looking and acting was OK. Saw a few minutes of it and picked an episode from BHPH, didn't think he was the same guy. Went back to another episode of IPPKND the one where they drench each other with a bucket full of water outside his office. Wow, he was very different yet again. That was it, I got pulled into this abyss called Iss Pyaar ko kya naam doon and haven't surfaced yet all because of him. My kudos to Sanaya and all the other cast and crew members as well. Thought this obsession I have would fade away but it is still going strong even after the show has ended a year ago.

All of you wonderful contributors to this thread have written everything I'd love to say about Barun more eloquently than I ever can. I have nothing more to add except to say that he is an awesome actor.

so perfectly pitched this acting, and from within; your eyes follow his feelings, not his physical movements, and before you know it a whole world has collapsed, or a heart been captured, or indifference turned to pulsating emotion... just like that. effortlessly. or so it seems, as when virtuosos play or sing.

yes he seemed to be waiting out there to pull us right in and leave us reeling.

indeed such a good actor... natural flowing always in character. his talent grew from the first days before camera of shraddha to the slightly villainous dr raj of dmg and then the cute spoilt brat with a golden heart and easy appeal shravan was his to bring alive. but really it was as asr that he seemed to take his craft to another level altogether. art.. craft... talent started to get into teh converstaion, beyond cute, good looking, something about him, etc. while all those seemed to also add on another dimension.

i have liked other actors before. but never like this. a new experience altogether. touches you in places almost no one has before.

ha ha hindi shows. how disdainful i have been of them. paradigm shifted by a young man with just an immense sense of self, an attitude to work and interpretation.

i do not follow actors or watch their off screen stuff. never knew of sbs sbb. but if it's barun i must be there. hyuk.

made tamasha of a fifty three year old this boy. but i wouldn't have it any other wy.

that talent is so precious. and so missed. thanks so much for your reminiscences.

Amazing post... What can I say..he's expressions hold a thousand words/feelings in one.. Like a painting..should I say Picasso ... I think he deserves it...and his co actors weren't the least either.

thanks and yes, there was good acting all around... sanaya so good too. ah, those were the days. can't bring myself to see other serials... even those with great stories... just because theacting doesn't make the cut. aww.

Hi Indi,

I was one of those who said Barun should read your writing - and he has - twice if I'm not mistaken! Any more and he's going to start recognizing your style, distinctive as it is!

Anyway, this is a marvelous thread filled with such heart-warming posts. Thank you for making it.
If ever Barun feels a moment of self-doubt, then this is the thread to read..will surely get him pumped up and raring to go again!😊

i am going loopy and nuts here reading he might have read something by me about him..

but if he has, i hope he realises exactly how straight from the gut everything i feel and write is.

exceptional actor.

self doubt really is a sign of fineness... but not too much.

so waiting to see him.

Awesome post!

Barun's acting is simply amazing! His facial expressions, voice, emotions! One of the things I love most about him (And of course his looks, personality, face, sense of humour...)

Oops I'm not mistaken am I? It was your writing? - the message from Team Sobtians delivered to him last year during the meet & greet organized by Mithali? And the video showed him reading the card slowly and quite thoroughly I thought.
And there was another message/card/flowers delivered to him during the quitting fiasco, right?
I remember both occasions coz I was so moved by what you wrote.

If I'm mistaken I'm sorry - and yes, he really should read what you write about him - as also the other wonderful posts in this thread. As someone mentioned, its like a love letter to him! or at least a sweet tribute to his extraordinary talent. 😊
