Chapter 4

"Oh God, I'm so tired. Agar mujhe phele pata hota na, ki shaadi mein itne saare kaam hote hain na, toh main mama ki hi baat manti." I said while lying down on the bed. After I had changed, Rukhsana Aunty & Priya Aunty were getting the final details for the engagement down. Ishaan ji & Payal Di called her Bhabhi, I didn't. I wanted too, but than she was a lot older than me, so I called her Aunty. I was helping Payal & Piya in the kitchen to get dinner ready. I hadn't seen him until he came down for dinner. I still didn't know his name until Ishaan ji called him Raghu. The name it sounded so familiar. I also learned that he was Rukhsana Aunty's son and he wasn't much older than me. His sister, Riya, was also very sweet. I swear, she was just like me. "I know yaar... Main bhi bahut thak chuki hoon. Chal tu jaa kar change kar le." I went to go change into my night clothes. When I came out, my phone was ringing. Piya had fallen asleep so I quickly went into the hall and answered the call. "Hello?" I said. "Hey moti. Sab theek hain na?" I heard from the other side. "Oh God. Maine tumse kitni baar kaha hain ki mujhe moti mat bulaya karo. I hate that name." I said angrily. "Acha ok sorry. Waise waha sab theek to hain na?" he asked. "Kuch theek kaise ho sakta hain? Tum toh yahan ho nahi." I replied. "I'm sorry but I promise ki kal shyam tak main tumare samne khara honga. Is that good enough for my princess?" he said. "Yes. I miss you a lot. Please jaldi se aana." I said "Aunga, aunga. Chal good night. Love you." He said. "Good night. Love you too." I said and cut the call.

I couldn't get her out of my mind. I wanted to see her after the whole tea incident, but Ranveer wouldn't let me go anywhere. I saw her at the dinner table. She was so graceful. So perfect. I got up from my bed and went out into the hall. I wouldn't be able to sleep tonight. I was walking down the hall when I heard a voice. "Ok. I miss you a lot. Please jaldi se aana." It sounded just like her voice. I went there and I saw that it was her. She was wearing a t-shirt and plaid pants. She was looking so cute. But whom was she talking to at this time of night? "Good night. Love you too." Was it her boyfriend? Suddenly, she turned around and I saw her face. There was a huge smile on her face. She was so happy. "Tum? Yahan kya kar rahe ho? Woh bhi itni raat ko?" she asked. "Woh, mujhe neend nahi aa rahi thi toh phir main baar aagaya tha." I replied. What a stupid answer. Could I be any more of an idiot? "Accha. Well good night." She said and walked towards her room. "Good night." I called behind her. Who was she talking to? I was so confused and walked back to my room. I fell asleep while thinking about her.

His face looked so cute. I could tell that he was trying to make an excuse. He sucked at making excuses. But he looked so adorable. "Accha. Well good night." I said and walked back to my room. "Good night," he called behind me. This was such a weird feeling. I felt as if I had gone through all of this before.

"Good morning Aunty. Good morning, everyone." I called while running down the stairs. I ran straight to the mandir, where Aunty was sitting. "Good morning beta. Jaldi se Bappa ka ashirwaad lele. Abhi bauht kaam baki hain." "Ji Aunty." I quickly said my morning prayers and was about to leave when Aunty called me. "Antara, teri Arjun se baat hui kya?" she asked. "Haan Aunty. Kal rat ko hi hui thi. He said that he was going to be here for the engagement." I replied. "Acha. Ab tu ja. Jaa kar un logo ke liye nashta laga de," Aunty said. "Ok Aunty," I said and hurried towards the dining table where Piya & Payal were already setting the table.

I was walking down the stairs when I heard "Haan Aunty. Kal rat ko hi hui thi. He said that he was going to be here for the engagement." It was Antara. Who was she talking about? Was it the same guy as last night? Lost in my thoughts, I walked towards the table and sat down. "Good morning Raghu," Mach Mach said as he walked into the room. "Good morning Dad," I replied. "Good morning Uncle." I turned and saw Antara coming towards the table. "Good morning Antara," Mach Mach replied. How did I not notice that she was here? "Antara, kya main tumari madat kar sakti hoon?" asked Riya. "Nahi, it's ok. Hum teeno hain na. Hum kar lenge. Tum baitho." Antara replied. "Please. Mujhe bhi help karni hain." Riya pleaded. "Ok tum jao, andar Payal Di ki madat kardo." She said. "Ok." Riya went into the kitchen. I was kept stealing glances at her throughout the entire breakfast. Today she was wearing yellow and green suit. It looked perfect on her. When she served me the food, I swear my heart started beating faster than ever. She was so close to me.

As I served him breakfast, I realized how close I was to him. He looked up at me and I looked back. I couldn't help it. A small smile crept onto my lips and I went to the other side of the table to serve Mach Mach Uncle.

After breakfast, I didn't get to see her at all. She was too busy in helping with the decorations and then with getting Payal ready. Ranveer was there to keep me company but it didn't do much to keep my mind off of Antara.

"Di, which earrings should I wear with this suit?" I asked Payal. "Wear those ones. They will look perfect with the dress." Payal replied, pointing towards a pair of silver earrings. "I agree Antara. Those will look perfect on you." Riya said. "Ok." I said and happily got ready. The engagement was finally about to happen. Suddenly, Riya got a call and left the room. I got ready and went downstairs as well, waiting for Arjun.

Riya went outside of the house to answer her call and suddenly bumped into a guy. "Um excuse me. Aap dekh kar nahi chal sakte kya?" Riya said. She looked up to find a handsome guy looking at her. "I'm sorry. Actually, I'm in a hurry. I have to go inside." He said. "Then go." Riya said and walked away to answer her call.

I went downstairs and saw her. I was about to go talk to her when she said "Arjun!" and went to go hug the guy that had just walked in. Who was he? And how was he related to her?

I was waiting for 5 minutes when I finally saw him. "Arjun!" I said and ran to give him a hug. "Whoa there moti. Relax." Arjun said. "Idiot. Don't call me moti," I said and hit his arm softly. I looked behind him and saw my parents coming in. "Mama, Papa" I said and went to gave them a hug. "Finally. Mere dono bache aaj mere paas hain." Ragini said. "Mom, stop being so dramatic." Arjun said.

I watched the entire scene play out in front of me. So they were siblings. I felt so stupid at the moment for thinking otherwise. I hit my self on the head. Yeda, I thought.

"Acha beta. Main zaara Priya se mil kar aati hoon." Ragini said and walked away. I turned around and saw Raghu. "Papa, Arjun. Yeh Raghu hain. Ishaan ji ke saath aaya hain. Aur Raghu, yeh mere papa Dr. Alok Kaul aur mera bhai, Arjun," I introduced them and left them to talk as I went to go check on the food.

Finally, it was time for my engagement. I'm sure ki agar aaj yahan meri family hoti, toh woh sab bahut kush hote, I thought. Par yeh log bhi to meri family hain na? I looked at Mach Mach and Rukhsana. After Antara Di & Raghu passed away, Mom had died of shock. Since then, Mach Mach Bhai & Rukhsana had taken care of me. Just the way Di & Raghu had. They were my family. I remember when Rukhsana Bhabhi was pregnant, we had it decided that if it was a girl, then she would have been named Antara and if it was a boy, he would be named Raghu. Bhabhi had Raghu and we promised that we would make sure that this time, if Antara was alive, we would make sure that they would be together. I looked up at the staircase and saw Payal come down. She looked beautiful in the blue and silver lengha choli that she was wearing. With her were Antara, Piya & Riya.

Bappa, aaj toh main gaya, I thought. Last time I saw her, I didn't even get to look at her properly. The spotlight should have been on her. She looked beautiful in the pink and peach anarkali she was wearing. This was going to be one exciting evening.
