Hmmm, tough one! If i had to invest my own money, no business (unless I win a lottery 😉). I'd go for the job. Even if I get fired, I will more likely than not find another one (there will always be a demand for education! 😃 ) I don't mind being told what to do; yet, at the same time I believe that after a certain amount of experience in my field, we get left to our own devices. I am a great procrastinator, and if I were my own boss, nothing would get done. The only positive aspect of business for me is the freedom to choose when I can go on a holiday; however, people with businesses usually don't get the time to go on a long holiday . So, job it is!

I will go for a job. First of all investing your money is very risky and so is taking all the decisons urself, in the case of a sole trader or patnerships. There is always the risk of the buisness failing and the profits are also not very regular. However when you have a job, ur income is fixed and regular and even if u get fired, if u work hard and ur education is good, u will go a long way. I dunt mind someone making decisons for me especially in a big company however my views should also get a hearing. 😊

Anita, I agree up to the part if you own business then no one can tell you to pack your bags, but you are your own boss??? I will like to tell you why, as if you own business there are people who work for us, sooner or later some people become critical for your business to survive then now you have to take care of them.... so many times can't do what you want to do and have to listen to them.

Other exmaple no matter what your business is you may own it but you always have some clients/customers so you are driven by them.

My point is there will always be a boss for you in some shape or other, just my POV.

Nice topic again ANI! 😊

It wouldn't matter, as long as the service benefits people and is done with honesty and dedication 😊

PS - Well, if and when I launch my own biotech, Mr QT will be able to golf full-time and for that, I may pick business. It could be a million dollar smile to watch 😳 (no pun intended 😆 😆) and a million dollar charity that nobody could stop me from doing 😳.
For example, if I ran Google, I would prevent rampant school closures in bay area instead of providing free gourmet breakfast, drinks, coffee and food whole day to employees who already make plenty of money to buy all that and more 😕.

Having been there and done that, I would say owning a business is more satisfying after all for obvious reasons and main being able to write the amount you can on your paycheck.😉 No matter what anyone says, the effort when measured by amount of money one makes is well appreciated....

Day to day grind and clutter of running the bussiness can be overwhelming initialy but the perpetual drive that one gets from nowhere is most exhilarating and relieves one from insecurity of a job....I think the organisational competitive nature of a job takes away from creative energy while in a bussiness , energy is channeled to solve real issues facing the bussiness..Imo..

Having said that, more then 70% of employees in USA are employed by small bussinesses.😛

the prerequisite for business is complete total self discipline however.

Well said eggy...I need to work on that too...😆

job
if its like good first class job only
like some engineer, doctor, lawyer,
cause it is easy to take vacation and spend time with family
and if u get fired you can always go somewhere else
and less pressure

if its like a job as a waiter then hell no😆

i think in buisness there is too much pressure
you have to worry for employees needs to, like give them shift according to their schedule
and your employees could steal behind your back
and if you are robbed then you are screwed
but i think if you family works with you in buisness then its better
cause you can usually trust them more 😉 but thats not always the case 😆
and some people are just very good at buisness

Both have their positives and negatives.

If u own a business then u are ur own boss and no body can give u a box one morning to pack ur things telling u that u are fired.........but then u are stuck to ur business 24/7.

The job on the other hand gives u the flexibilty to change it if u don't like it,take off from it if u want a vacation ........but then u have a boss who tells u what to do.

So what would u choose and why??

business, the opportunities are endless
