As for Tanya, I think the relationship he is hoping for is more with Rana than with Tanya herself. The way they talk, it's like Tanya is just a pawn in their business alliance. It will be interesting to see what happens when she herself comes on the scene.

As for your second point, I don't think there is another woman in Anshuman's life. He is held back from falling for Pakhi simply because he doesn't care about anyone as much as he cares about himself. Marrying Tanya is also about making himself greater, not about her or even Ayaan. It's all about Anshuman in Anshuman-land! So every desire is filtered by what it would mean for him, if that makes sense. Being attracted to Pakhi, though he is on some subliminal level, is not how he envisions himself.

I am so glad my analysis made the show more enjoyable. I totally agree with you about the core of the show. It is about this well-rounded Pakhi who is warm, secure and confident bringing a cold Anshuman back to life.

As I have mentioned before, I see this show as a fantasy/fairytale so I don't mind so much when Pakhi pulls of superhuman feats. She is kind of a domestic super-heroine! It is also in reaction to all the usual women on TV that I enjoy her so much. When do we ever get such capable, calm and sorted women?

I am also in total agreement about her weakness: Anshuman. For some reason she has this unshakable faith that they are meant to be together and that all it takes is time. I would love for the story to show her growing up and seeing Anshuman for the actual person he is rather than just the idea of her prince charming. Then she could fall in love with the actual person all over again and the show would become much more balanced in some ways.

PS: Don't be too sure on the no-passion thing. This PH may specialize in subtle, gradually unfolding love and they do it well, but they can bust out some very spicy surprises every now and then! 😉😛

@Sush: I see what you are saying about primal and rational, but in that respect romance on TV and in movies fool us a lot. Primal attraction is not always as strong as they make it out to be and rational thought can be a lot stronger. It depends on the person, how much this primal instinct has power over them, and in A's case it seems like his whole personality is defined by the fact that he puts rational thought way, way, way above primal instinct. His primal instincts are responding to Pakhi - food, head massage, subconscious hand-holding, midriff-staring, dancing(!) - when he has his guard down, but then he almost never has his guard down.

To jolt him out of his fortress of rationality, Pakhi needs to keep busting out the jaw-dropping surprises and challenge what he thinks is common sense and pure logic. Each time she destroys one of his assumptions about her, because after all assumptions are logical deductions, she puts him a little more outside his comfort zone and we see that in his increasingly manipulative efforts to return his world to normal, where everything made sense. Pakhi defies logic and knows that there is a world beyond rationality; that's why he always comes up trumps against a by-the-book, black and white Anshuman.

@sun2011: That is a really good question. In this case, I don't think the issue was necessarily just about glamour. Pakhi has already proven with the party that she doesn't need to dress like Lavanya to meet the standards of class and style in Anshuman's world. I liked how realistic this was because in India, nobody actually ridicules anyone for wearing sarees and not dresses to cocktail events, parties etc (I hate when they show this being a big deal because it really isn't); the two are pretty much on par when it comes to style quotient and sex appeal.

I think her wearing the dress specifically was a direct reaction to the tennis match fiasco. We have to keep reminding ourselves that Pakhi has no idea about Anshuman's grand plans to give her the boot. She really thought she messed up and made him feel like their marriage couldn't work by not wearing that uniform, and she wanted to fix it, especially after he showed her what a "genuine" guy he was in their parting scene. Wearing the dress was her way of telling Anshuman, "I am willing to try anything to fit in your world and we can make this marriage work; I just need a little time ."

I also REALLY liked the message that this whole scene gave in terms of body image: it's not about what you wear but how comfortable you are in your own skin. Isn't life a little more exciting when you go outside your comfort zone and try new things without putting the weight of your entire identity on something as superfluous as clothes or food? Maybe she'll like wearing dresses and switch permanently or maybe she'll never wear one again after this but why should that have any bearing on how she identifies as a woman and a person? Pakhi is a confident and adventurous girl. If you give her time to get used to an idea, she is ready to try anything once, and she totally rocked that dress because of that confidence in herself. I am sure that had she known about the requirements for the tennis uniform beforehand, she would have practiced playing in it and been ready to wear it for the tournament. The fact that A hid it from her means that he is also catching on; this is not a girl you can fit neatly into a box. She follows her heart and long as something "feels right" to her she has no fear in going outside her comfort zone for something she thinks is worth it.

I like the character of Paakhi. She manages her problems with finesse and no melo drama. I like they was she came off in the last episode. Your values determine who you are not what is expected of you by others.

It drives me crazy she does not see thru anshuman. She should see the shallowness in his eyes. She did not hear him say go, she cannot see thru him or see him for what he really is and his feelings or lack there of for her.
