TOI:TV bahu puts upfight-Jodha

With various cases of sexual assaults and gender sensitive issues being back in the news, the teleserials have yet again introduced tracks to incorporate such developments and give their audiences a social message of sorts. We list a few characters from popular serials that have stood up against the wrongs meted out to fellow women.

Bani - Ishq Da Kalma In Bani - Ishq Da Kalma, the title track showcases Bani, the newly wed bride, not being accepted by her NRI husband (Parmeet) and his family. Bani, played by Shefali Sharma, is seen fighting for her marital rights. In the current track where Bani has started living in her in-laws house, much to their displeasure, she is shown being subjected to much mental and physical trauma. To help her tide over this and get what is rightfully hers, Bani's sister Rajji (Neha Bagga) comes to her aid. She also gets women's rights groups to intervene and tell Bani's in-laws that they will be dealt legally with for their actions.

Sapne Suhane Ladakpan Ke This teleserial that sketches the lives of two girls, Rachna and Gunjan, who are best friends recently showed a track, where they along with a few other girls are seen beating up street side Romeos in a busy market place. These men who have been shown as a menace to the girls of the neighbourhood are roughed up in broad daylight by the gang of girls.

Jodha Akbar The current track of Jodha Akbar shows Jodha, played by Paridhi Sharma, standing up for a baandi, or a maidservant, against her exploitation by a powerful subedaar.When Jodha gets to know the subedaar's evil intentions towards the baandi, who is still a minor, she confronts him and takes up the issue with Akbar and finally manages to get him punished.
