Bollywood Slams SC's Ruling On Sec 377; Criminalizing Homosexual Love Is Regressive!

December 11th, 2013 by Koimoi.com Team

Perhaps today can be counted as one of the darkest days in the history of Indian Judiciary. After much debate and debacles, the Supreme Court today criminalized homosexuality in India.

While the decision has come across as extremely primitive to most, Bollywood celebs have reacted scathingly to this. Koimoi compiles for you what they had to say on the much shameful and regressive decision passed by the apex court.

Here again the politicians are also to be blamed ...

The court gives verdict after listening to both the sides. Now one thing which has gone against removing Sec 377 is "no time in the history the parliament felt that it is against human rights". No sane politician who also happens to be selfish will ever think of putting it and speaking for gay rights. To hell with human rights !!!

Repeal of section 377 does not find a place among the 30 odd amendments the parliament has recently made to the statute. The fact that the "undisputed representative" of the people (read parliament) "has not thought it proper" to delete the provision, should "guide our understanding of character, scope, ambit and import".

"After the adoption of the IPC in 1950, around 30 amendments have been made to the statute, the most recent being in 2013 which specifically deals with sexual offences, a category to which Section 377 IPC belongs. The 172nd Law Commission Report specifically recommended deletion of that section and the issue has repeatedly come up for debate. However, the Legislature has chosen not to amend the law or revisit it. This shows that Parliament, which is undisputedly the representative body of the people of India has not thought it proper to delete the provision. Such a conclusion is further strengthened by the fact that despite the decision of the Union of India to not challenge in appeal the order of the Delhi High Court, the Parliament has not made any amendment in the law.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
of course, if you read the verdict --- "The Naz Foundation failed to show enough instances of abuse of the provision by state authorities. "

What ? Is it difficult to show that "being gay" is hard ?

well what can one say? SC is violating basic human rights. So we are living in a country where marital rape is legal, but consensual sexual act is not. wow...where are we living...in 2013...no dark ages?

Especially the reason for this is below the belt. Religious...its a secular country, so religion shouldn't be shoved down in laws.
second...culture... Read kamasutra, oriental indian text, and then tell me what's our culture.
