If i remember correctly Betaab had a happy ending. It was a romantic film from his young days. The film was a Super Hit and was the second highest grossing film of 1983 just behind Amitabh Bachchan's Coolie 😊

The film had a lot of good stuff. The college scenes had the magical feel-good 90s' college scenes that other films had at the time too, like Kuch Kuch Hota Hain.

Bad release date I think. Out of the whole year, it decided to release with the most awaited film of the year in Hum Saath Saath hain. Sunny deol really is a terrible producer. But yes, its extremely underrated.

According to Wikipedia though there was a 12 day difference though between both films!

I think the film didn't work for different reasons. One, given that the Deols are massy actors, their fans may have not approved of this film being an urbanized, city type of film. Sunny Deol didn't have his usual massy dialogues and he doesn't beat up any major baddies to a pulp either, as it was love story at heart rather than his usual action film from the 90s.

Also, I read before that Komal Nahta said that Sunny Deol's direction has a hangover of DDLJ and KKHH. Perhaps audience felt the same, especially since KKHH released just one year earlier the audience may have felt the college scenes to be similar.

Lol I know but it was a happy ending for Sallu and Karishma atleast. 😆 I used to love the songs of that movie and Imthihaan too. Even in that one I guess Saif ends up with Raveena. Sunny deol is always the third wheel.

Pyar koi khel nahin is the movie with MC and Apurva Agnihotri. 😆
