Chapter 37

Brimming with expectation and anticipation for the journey of life with him... after knowing each facet of his being...she felt him to be an absolute ensnarement...from where there is no release...nor she wished to be released...she raised her eyes up above towards the heavens...and wished to stay entrapped forever ...for all eternity...with their hearts always as one.

She straightened her saree...towel dried her hair... and moved out to bring morning tea for him... taking slow, careful steps...not to wake him up...but Ashutosh who was awake senses some movement...turning he finds her closing the ajar door...he stretches his hand to stop her...but the condition he was in running behind her to catch her up...was not possible...he smiles and stretching his arms he takes a deep breath...he isn't used to anyone's presence around him...not in his private den and today after spending a night with her...her tick of absence was making him feel alone...this undoubtedly was the best morning of his life...he woke up to the sound of her breath on his neck feeling the touch of her delicate fingers on his skin...he closed his eyes and cherished the moments again and prayed his every morning to be like that... to wake up everyday to the warmth of her lips on his cheek and feel of her heart beating with his.

Nidhi climbed down the stairs and her eyes caught her Nanu on breakfast table...having morning tea and reading the newspaper...she felt a bit shy...lowering her eyes she walked up to him and wished him good morning leaning forward to touch his feet to seek his blessings.

Dr. Mathur felt blissful having the sight of her grand daughter early morning but he quickly chided her, "How many times I told you...you shouldn't touch my feet"

"But that was for your grand daughter...I'm not your daughter now"

Dr. Mathur looks at her...in a questioning look...she responds "From now on you are not my Nanu...you are Ashutosh's father...and mine Baba as well"

Her words stun Dr. Mathur...and at the same time fill his heart with an unknown delight...he feels overwhelmed seeing his grand daughter transformed in his daughter-in-law... unable to utter a word he places his hand on her head affectionately and she moves towards the kitchen...she had only one intention behind all this to give her love...her husband...the bliss of complete family life...he missed all these year's. Last night's intimacy made her to travel the solitary path way's of his life...he didn't utter a word but his touch...his snuggles...his caresses conveyed volumes...the way he held her made her to feel the void he surely was feeling filled.

Sneha and Hiraman Kaka were already in the kitchen...sneha was boiling milk for Riya...and Hiraman Kaka was preparing breakfast for every one...

Nidhi wished them Good morning'

"Good Morning" Sneha turns excitedly to look at her...Nidhi had slight blush...she lowered her eyes and moved forward to seek the blessings of Hiraman Kaka. Hiraman Kaka placed his hand affectionately on her head...stopping her mid way not allowing her to touch his feet...his throat clogged with emotions...what he dreamt for Ashutosh was standing before him... in reality...he wipes his moist eyes and moves out with breakfast for Dr. Mathur.

Sneha giving an intent gaze to Nidhi asks, "So how was your night?"

Nidhi smiles and lowers her eyes placing cup and saucer on serving tray.

"Hmn...a scrutinizing gaze...the glow on your face is telling the story of whole night...sneha whispers near her ear...seems like Ashutosh kept you awake whole night"

Nidhi mutters, "Bhabi please" and Sneha chuckles...she takes the tea pot from her hands and pours tea for ashutosh...offering her the tray she winks at her and Nidhi smiles.

The moment she enters her room...she finds bed empty...she smiles realising that he has got up...but her heart thumps at the anticipation that their eyes are going to meet first time after they became one for lifetime. She was about to place the tray on table when she hears the restroom door open...she moves towards the dressing room to offer him the tea...he was still in restroom he places the tray on table and makes tea for him...the moment he emerges from restroom her breath hitches seeing him in a towel, she quickly hides her face in her hands. Ashutosh chuckles...he was wiping his hair with towel hanging around his neck and had another towel tied around his waste...he walks up to her and removes her hands placed on her face...and pulls her to his chest...enveloping and rocking her in his arms he asks, "Where were you? Why didn't you wake me up?"

She snuggles to him...oblivious to what he was asking...smelling that sweet musky scent blended with his woodsy aftershave that enthused her the very first time she saw him.

He pulls her out and tickles with his wet hair on her face...she slowly opens her eyes...and he raises his eyebrow in response.

She averts her eyes and turns her back towards him...he smiles and back hugs her...squeezing her in his arms taking a deep breath... "Every one has a right to his share of sunlight...why are you denying me my share...in a husky voice near her ear...why are you hiding yourself?"

She mumbles in response "What is this? You should have taken your clothes along...you forgot you are not alone in this room now" his bare body was making her feel a tingling sensation.

"I can never forget...the void I feel when you are not around, can never let me forget...that I'm only half when my other half is not here" he nuzzles and kisses the nape of her neck, "never leave me alone"

She tries to open his arms...feeling the sweet ache his touches were giving...almost gone in a daze she mumbles, "Stop it...get ready"

"No...you have to help me...huskily near her ear...wifey"

She mutters in response "So shameless hubby"

He chuckles and answers in same husky voice, "You haven't seen your shameless hubby yet"

Her heart thumps and she mumbles, "Stop it"

And he answers in a husky voice, "Even angels would go shameless and fail to stand the beauty I've seen and felt all night"

He continues nuzzling her neck...and makes her to amble towards the cupboard...after opening the cupboard he lifts her up in his arms and makes her sit on the shelf inside cupboard...she looks at him agape and tries to move out but he stops her, "No you can't" his eyes ensnared her and she couldn't help drowning into those enticing eyes...after taking his fill...Ashutosh leans forward and pecks at her forehead...Nidhi's reverie breaks and she mumbles, "Let me go"

"Where? Where can you go now" he raises his eyebrows giving her a questioning look and she smiles and lowers her eyes... he huskily calls her, "Jaan...look here" she shakes her head and he leans forward and nibbles her lower lip...she gasps and he smiles giving a soft peck at her lips...and looks at her in a tongue in cheek smile.

"Let me go...gesturing towards the table...have your tea and get ready...Baba is waiting for breakfast"

He frowns and repeats, " Baba?"

She smiles "Yes Baba..your baba is now my Baba"

Ashutosh looks at her in awe... his eyes fixed on her... he takes a deep breath...she understands and cups his face in her hands and giving a soft peck at his forehead...she looks at him and he smiles back at her returning her peck on her lips...she pushes him softly, "Stop it...get ready now"

He sulks and she smiles trying to move out but he was quick to cage her. "Stop right here...You are not going to move from here...let me taste the tea first" He turns and gets a glass of water and her morning tablet.

"Oh! I forgot"

He smiles and answers, "you don't need to remember now" she takes her medicine and he turns to get his tea.

He makes her to taste first...then having his sip...he places the cup in her hands...and removes the towel that was hanging around his neck...Nidhi's pupils dilated having a look of his broad shoulders and chiselled body.

Ashutosh smirks and she lowers her eyes... sipping his tea... he starts dressing himself...with his eyes fixed on her face...he smiles the way she averted her eyes...after putting on his trousers he removes the towel tied around his waist... and puts on his shirt...Nidhi raises her eyes...he takes cup from her hands looking into her eyes...places on the table and pulls her in his arms...pecking her cheeks...he places her hands on the buttons on his shirt...and mumbles pulling her lower body to his, "doc help your husband"

She gives him a look and starts doing the buttons of his shirt...feeling his hands beneath her saree...she chides him, "stop that"...he raises his eyebrows and starts caressing her bare curves...and bends to nuzzle her neck...she giggles and tries to stop him, "I'm not going to do the buttons...do yourself" she pushes him and moves out of the dressing room.

He follows her and grabs her in his arms...and lifts her up...she giggles again, "Let me change the bedding".

"That's not your job...but this is"

"No I can't do that"

He raises his eyebrows, "You have to do this daily...finish your job first otherwise..." he lays her on the bed and pins her down...looking at her in smirk.

"Please let me change the covers...see the room is in mess...what if some one comes here" while she uttered these words...her lips tantalized him and he couldn't help taking her lips in...after savouring her to his hearts content...he released her...pecked her hot cheeks and asked, "what is wrong with these covers...we have a help...she comes regularly...she'll change that"

"No I've to do it myself...get up" She tries to lift him but fails...he chuckles and she pouts.

Pecking at her lips he whispers near her ear "You know what your pouts do to me... don't you? your pouts give open invitation to me" ...he leans forward to take her lips again...but knock on door springs them apart...that was Sneha who from other side shouts, "Nidhi get ready your Baba is coming". Ashutosh who on hearing knock slipped to dressing room... frowns hearing sneha's words and mutters "papa"

Nidhi quickly moves to set her bed right...she picks all the jewellery that was scattered on the bed...blushing... remembering the events related to each piece of finery she was wearing last night...the crumple of sheets flushed her...she felt Ashutosh nearing her and was about to grab her...but he suddenly turned away and moved towards the window...she smiled...and averted to look at him.

After done with bedding she sets her saree right...brushes her hair...Ashutosh's stay put looking outside window makes her to frown and she goes to check him...she places her hand softly on his shoulder and asks raising her eyebrows slightly, "What are you doing here?"

He turns to look at her...smiles...and answers, "I was waiting for you"

Nidhi doesn't fail to notice the fading gloom in his eyes before the smile sparkled his eyes...she hangs her arms around his neck...steps on his feet and raising on her toes pecks his eyes, "I love them...they don't lie to me"

He opens his eyes and looks at her with all the love in his heart and asks her in all his frankness, "I hurt you...didn't I?

Nidhi understands looking into his eyes she responds with vehemence, "No you didn't...that was the sweet ache of our union...she lowers her eyes and mumbles...how that could have hurt me...the ecstasy that fills one to the tips of the fingers and toes without cautioning one to be careful"

He chuckles...snaking his arms around her waist...he whirled her in air and lifted her up in his arms holding her tightly...her thighs touching his belly...he tries to nuzzle her navel...that tickles her and she giggles pleading, "Leave me...please...leave me...I have to go...Dadi bua is waiting"

That makes Ashutosh to stop and look at her surprised, "What? He releases her and grounds her slowly. She smiles at his stun and turns to moves back towards dressing room.

Ashutosh quickly stops her grabbing her arm, "what? What did you say? Who is waiting?"

"Dadi Bua!...Baba is coming to take me along"

"You are going back"

"Yes...I'm going back"

He releases her arm...looking at her surprisingly...and she walks ahead.

Ashutosh follows her, his mood changed perceptibly...Nidhi who was picking her mangalsutra from dressing table...gave him a look and asked suppressing her chuckle, "Why can't I go there...only yesterday morning...you told me I can go there anytime...you forgot"

Giving her a frustrated look "But you came here only last night"

Nidhi shrugs her shoulders and he throws away his arms in disappointment and plops in the divan nearby...his sullen look tears Nidhi and she goes near him...she sits next to him but he averts his eyes.

Nidhi cups his face and makes him to look at her. She smiles, "I've to go...this is a ritual...called pag phera"

The anger smoothers...he mumbles... pag phera... and asks her impatiently, "and how long you are going to stay there"

She smiles, "till you come again to get me here"...Ashutosh smiles...pulls her in his lap...pecks at her lips, "Can't I come along?"

"Yes...why not? You can come"

He purses his lips in dismay, "But I've to go hospital...I need to check the patient I operated...day before yesterday"

Nidhi smiles and hugs him, "No problem...I'll wait for you"...coming out of hug she extends her hand...and opens her fist...offering him to put on her mangalsutra. He leans forward...pecks at her palm and the mangalsutra and ties around her neck. Then she gets up and moves towards dressing table and he follows her... Nidhi looks her image in the mirror and smiles at him. Ashutosh gestures her to stay there and moves to get something from the closet...he comes back with a small box in his hand...nidhi watches him through mirror...he opens the box and takes a sleek gold chain with a small pendant of 'AN' letters studded with diamonds...her pupils dilated...the expression on her face told him how much she loved that...he smiles in satisfaction...winking at her in gratitude he puts the chain around her neck...Nidhi touches the pendant...the first two letters of their names with veneration and mumbles, "thank you"

Nidhi extends sindoor towards him...he smiles in understanding...takes a pinch of sindoor...pecks the parting and tinges it with sindoor... he back hugs her...pecking at her shoulder...he asks her, "I did my job...now you should do yours" and gestures her towards his few buttons that were still undone...she lowers her eyes and smiles...and starts doing the buttons of his shirt and he smirks and pulls her to himself snaking his arms around her waist.

After buttoning up his shirt...he offers her the necktie...and gestures her to tie the knot around his neck...she gives a resigned look and complies him quietly...his eyes fixed on her face his hands start exploring her body...her eyes pop out she chides him, "Stop it"

"What? What did I do?" he raises his eyebrow...she smiles and shakes her head and turns her attention back to the job she was doing...and his hands start again complimenting the curvaceous beauty he was blessed to have in his arms...she tries to continue bearing the sweet torture of his caresses...unable to stand she tries to stop him but he goes on relentlessly...pecking her cheeks...nibbling the crook of her neck...etching her body...making her wriggle in his arms...he was loving it...and his heart was tempting for more...unable to stand..she pouts and gives up...he looks dreamily at her pout and she straightens her face...he chuckles...looks at her...takes a deep breath and pleads...narrowing his eyes...she gives a squint look and starts again making the knot...his eyes stuck on her face...he watches her unblinkingly...done with his tie Nidhi looks at him and seeing him gazing her so ravenously...her heart thumps...she lowers her eyes and rests her head on his chest...but he pulls her out...looking at her lips he utters, "you know you have an elfin beauty that makes you irresistible" he cups her head and takes her lips...savouring her as temptingly as she was offering.

Releasing her lips...he picks her up in his arms and places her softly on the bed...sitting on her side he pecks every inch of her face...almost gone in a daze...Nidhi tries to stop him, "Please the door is open"

He starts trailing her jaw bone, "No one will enter without a knock" moving to taste her neck his eyes fall on the pendant touching her chest bone...he placed a soft kiss on the pendant and then started trailing his way down but the door opens with a thud and Riya sprints in, "Achi"...both spring apart...Nidhi's heart thumps at the sudden thud and the way she was jolted out of her daze...and Ashutosh gives a frustrated look at the door and then at Riya, he pats at her butts... "whatz this Riya?" She least bothers to answer him and pulls Nidhi holding her hand, "Come Achi...play with...my Barie doll"

Nidhi looks at Ashutosh and suppresses her chuckle...he pats her cheek, "No she has to play with me?"

Riya places her hands on her hips and asks quite firmly, "No she'll play with me...you don't have Barie doll" that makes Nidhi to chuckle and Ashutosh tweaks her cheek mumbling, "You are taking my Barbie doll...sweety"

Surprisingly Riya hears and she placing her little hands on her agape mouth, "Aw! Shez your Barie doll"

Nidhi glares at Ashutosh who tweaks Riya's cheek and picks her in his arms asking, "You had your breakfast"

"Yes I had milk"

"Good come let us have breakfast first...then Achu and Achi will play with your doll...okay"

She nods her head playfully and Ashutosh gestures Nidhi to follow. She quickly straightens her saree and her hair and follows them.

The moment they reach the hall...Col. Verma knocks at the door and Baba gets up to welcome him. Nidhi dashs towards her Baba and hugs him. Col. verma was equally happy to see his daughter and son-in-law...holding Nidhi in one arm he extends his another arm towards Ashutosh who was walking towards them and holds them together in a hug saying, "God bless you both"

Ashutosh welcomes him, "Come papa...let us have breakfast"

"No my son I had my breakfast...you all have your breakfast...till then I'll play with Riya" caressing Riya's cheek...who was holding Ashutosh's hand.

Arman butts in, "No sir...you'll have to join us...please...at least you should have a cup of tea...made by Nidhi...on the very first day... in her very new house"

Nidhi mock glares Arman and turns to Col., "Yes Baba...please join us" and Col. verma gives up. Nidhi makes tea for Col. verma and sits next to Ashutosh to have her breakfast.

Ashutosh was loving the proximity...now this was his right to have her next to him...and the realisation was swelling his heart. When she was sitting next to her how he could have left the moment and not played with her Barbie doll...he had his breakfast stealing moments to caress her...teasing her by holding her hand...and giving some soft pinches. His sombre days were gone...he was aware...he was behaving unusually...all because of his Barbie doll...he beamed at the thought and at the change in him that was so flagrant.

The breakfast ended discussing the evening reception party...and Col. Verma hurried as he remembered impatient Dadi Bua waiting for her grand daughter...so excitedly that she called Sneha the moment Col. Verma left so that Nidhi is ready.

Nidhi and Ashutosh exchange glances...Ashutosh so wished to hold her in a hug and so was Nidhi feeling for him...but with all the people around that wasn't possible. Ashutosh winked at her slowly...knowingly as if kissing her through his eyes and she looking around squeezed her eyes responding his wink that brought a smile on his face and glowed her heart.

Riya sensing Nidhi is leaving speaks to Col.verma, "No she won't come...shez to play with me"

Col. verma looks at Sneha and she answers for him, "Baby she'll come back...your Achu will bring her back"

Hearing Achu...Riya turns to Ashutosh, "Achu your Barie doll...how are you going to play" Ashutosh's eyes pop out and Nidhi flushes.

Sneha mumbles looking at Arman, "Barie doll" who gives a questioning look to Ashutosh holding his tongue in cheek.

Ashutosh tries to cajole her, "Riya she'll come back"

"No she can't go...shez to play with me"

Ashutosh picks her in his arms and whispers secretively, "I'll bring her back...we have to play with her...I'm going to hospital and on my way back I'll bring her here...promise"

Riya kisses Ashutosh's cheek saying, "Promise"

Ashutosh winks in response and whispers again something in her ear. She looks at him amusedly and comes down quickly and runs towards Nidhi giving a kiss to her on her cheek and says bye' happily. Nidhi looks at Ashutosh and he smirks in response. Nidhi lowers her eyes and bids bye to everyone.

Driving to hospital Ashutosh was on cloud nine...he was experiencing all sort of nascent joys ever since Nidhi came in his life...when she confessed her love to him he felt he is the most ecstatic person on earth...when they got engaged he felt he has won the world...yesterday when they got married he felt on top of the world and after having her in every sense of the word he was feeling intoxicated in joy...whole night he has been in seventh heaven that has left in him a lingering rhapsody of joy and he was swooning in it...the joy that was reflecting on his face...and he was glowing charmingly as never before.

The rhapsody his heart and mind was swooning in added a lilt to his body...no eye on earth would fail to notice. Unusually he smiled at receptionist who greeted him and she forgot to blink getting the response of awed surprise. Staff who greeted him on his way to his cabin dared to take a second glance of him for the first time such was the magnitude of shock they got.

Far in the corner someone catching his glimpse got rooted at the place...and watched him coming wistfully...the stare followed him without a blink and when he entered his cabin and did go out of reach for those eyes...the eyes blinked and tears coursed down her cheeks... Malika! all these years she never saw him like that...she almost flew to her cabin and sobbed her heart out...whole night she couldn't sleep...her thoughts persistently went to Ashutosh and Nidhi...her eyes couldn't forget the sight in Armaan's house when she saw her love showering his love on some other person...she churned in deep agony whole night...the realisation that she lost her love conclusively...the feeling that her love owned someone else undeniably...the night she dreamt all life him to be with her...he was with someone else showering his love.

Sobbing her heart out...she consoled herself...feeling happy for her love...the fact she couldn't deny that her love was all perked up in his joy...the delight she never saw him brimmed with all these years...was enough to bring the needed consolation.

Nidhi was welcomed by Dadi Bua in all the jubilation...she was waiting for her to arrive with all the arrangements ready for the puja and instantly she makes her to sit and requests pandit ji to begin the puja. After puja Nidhi spends a little time with all. Anji and Rohan acquainted her how the whole house was glum after they returned from Ashutosh's house last night and how they tried their best to change the gloomy air in the house but couldn't succeed the way her return in the house has done. Shyma Aunty and Dadi Bua were smiling hearing their banters when they finally decide to get up and prepare lunch for all. Mr. Solanki chides Rohan to get up and finish the job he was doing. The house was still in mess after last nights wedding and there were many things still that needed unwinding. All the three men go to do their respective jobs and Anji and Nidhi slip into Nidhi's room. The moment Anji shuts the door she back hugged Nidhi asking,

"So how was your first night?"

Nidhi shrugs her shoulders, "Very much like your first night"

"Like my first night...how can you say that? You don't know"

Nidhi raises her eyebrows, "So why should I be sharing the details of my first night with you"

"I'm your friend...you share everything with me"

"Not anymore"

"Oh..ho..So Jiju stole my friend just in one night" Anji sulks

Nidhi chuckles and hugs her friend, "Anji there are certain things...we can't share with anyone"

Anji mock punches her, "I never meant you to share such secrets...how can you even think so?"

Nidhi takes the pillow and tries to aim at her but she flees...after running around whole room they both finally settle on the bed puffing and laughing. Anji after sometime takes Nidhi's hand in hers and asks, "I'm so happy for you"

"Thank you Anji"

Nidhi turns around and Anji notices her pendant, "Wow this is so beautiful Nidhi...your wedding gift"

Nidhi nods her head, "yes your jiju gave me in the morning"

"Why...what did he give you last night then?"

Nidhi mock punches her and answers her question, "His pure love" her eyes sparkled while uttering those words and Anji noticing that sparkle hugs her friend in understanding.

Ashutosh got busy in hospital...after taking round of whole hospital he was coming back to his cabin when he checked his phone and saw Nidhi's missed call. He smiles...he knew he was late...he quickly starts checking files on his table and dials her number to call her...Nidhi who was sitting in living room with her family...waiting for his call impatiently...gets up and moves to her room to receive his call, hearing her hello he takes a deep breath and leans back on his chair...she hears his deep breathing and asks, "still in hospital" he asks, "missing me"...she answers "No? When are you coming...we are waiting for you"... "You are not missing me"... "hmn"... "Mind your words"...she chuckles, "What'll you do?"... "That I'll show"... "hmn"... "You know... I want to fly to you and kiss you hard...you know were"... "Stop it...you're in hospital"... "So what? I'm in my cabin"... "When are you coming?"... "Why do you want to know?...you are not missing me" she takes a deep breath and Ashutosh calls her, "Love"... "Hmn"... "just give me 15 minutes"... "hmn...but you will drive carefully"... "Sure! Love you"... "Miss you" he chuckles and she hangs up the phone...his face was still having the big grin when Malika entered his cabin.

"Malika you here...come...please have a seat"

"Thank you Ashutosh! Congratulations to you...how is Nidhi"

Ashutosh noticed the gloom in her eyes but overlooking that he answers, "Thank you! She is fine...you are coming to the party or...he gives her a questioning look"

"Of course I'm coming"

He nods his head "Thank you" he wanted to say that he missed her yesterday but seeing the gloom in her eyes...he avoids and turns his attention back to his files.

"I had kept a file here...you signed that"

"Hmn...Yes I have signed that already...here is your file" she takes the file and leaves his cabin. Ashutosh dropped his pen and leaned back on his chair. He felt bad for her but more bad for himself for being so helpless to see his friend in so much pain...sighing deeply he gets back to his job.

Dadi bua welcomes Ashutosh with all rituals and that amuses him...he suppresses his chuckle and Nidhi notices that. After she was done with Aarti...he asks her, "How long I'm going to be welcomed this way here"

Dadi Bua placing her hand on his head blesses him and answers "Always"

Rohan butts in, "Have mercy on your son-in-law dadi Bua" Dadi bua chides Rohan that he had to eat his words. Ashutosh smiles and hugs him saying, "thank you...and adds mumbling...no problem I'll take care of this"

Shyma Aunty invites them straight for lunch saying they are getting late for the evening party...they have to be there on time... they are hosts not the guests. All move towards the dining table and Ashutosh steals a chance to look at Nidhi...staring each other for a few secs they also move to the table and take their seats.

Ashutosh was pampered by all...he was made to taste all the delicacies prepared for him...he was giving helpless glances to Nidhi and she was suppressing her chuckle...finally he had to forewarn Dadi Bua that if she wants him to come there...she won't prepare so many dishes...unwillingly Dadi Bua had to agree...Col. verma was smiling in contentment seeing his son-in-law being pampered and he in turn mingling with his family.

After lunch Ashutosh and Nidhi leave for their house to get ready for their reception party.
