Hello Lovelies!

Am relatively new to this Asian Shows Forum and totally excited to find a reason to be active on IF again!
*Flashing my best Oppa-for-you smile*
So I was searching the threads on this forum and couldn't find ones for the some of the best shows I've ever watched.
And someone's gotta remedy that.
*One bowl of kimchi for guessing the right answer*
It's me! ๐Ÿ˜†๐Ÿ˜†๐Ÿ˜†

This one is dedicated to all those shows which have romance in lesser doses and have suspense or thrill at their core.

City Hunter: What Shawshank Redemption is to Hollywood, City Hunter is to Kdramas. At least that's what I think. It's a complete show. It nailed the balance between romance and suspense. The plot was intriguing and kept me glued to the screen for hours (No pee-breaks even๐Ÿ˜›)

I haven't watched Heirs but this has got to Lee Min Ho's best work till date. The action sequences were especially mindblowing. He even beat the crap outta bad guys with water bottles. Like a BAWSSS!

But City Hunter wouldn't have been this good if not for Lee Sang Joong who played the Badass Daddy! He was PHENOMENAL. He's totally the hottest ahjussi
I've seen on TV!

Park Min Young was good too. But me was too jealous of her to actually appreciate her ๐Ÿ˜ณ
Okay, okay. I'll admit it. She was really good.

(But I'd have done better! ๐Ÿ˜›)

Ratings: 10/10

Heartless City: I'll start off with...BACK OFF PEEPS! JUNG KYUNG HO IS MINE. *territorial roar* ๐Ÿ˜†
Heartless City started off really well. The plot was intriguing, the suspense thick and the characters extremely well sketched.
But towards the end..somehow the plot became a li'l too repititive. Like an undercover agent popped up in every new episode. And I was just sitting there waiting for another guy to say, "Yoo Hoo! I'm a cop too."

Jung Kyun Ho totally shouldered this one. He was the heart and soul of the show quite literally. And yes it was heartless that he had to go through so much but I bet we wouldn't have loved his character if he'd not been through all of that suffering.

I also really enjoyed the other characters. Soo Min, Jin Sook and Hyun Soo especially. The friendship between Hyun Soo and Shi- Hyun was especially heartwarming.

Flaws and all, I still love this show to bits. It's something special to me. I found my to-be-husband innit ๐Ÿ˜†

Ratings: 9/10 (But I totally gave it 10/10 in my heart)

Synopsis: https://asianwiki.com/Cruel_City_-_Korean_Drama

Two Weeks: I just completed this show and I can't stop gushing about how awesome it is. Everyone should watch this show.
N.O.W
It's at par with City Hunter plotwise. Maybe after I watch it again I'll like it better. Yes, THAT GOOD.

Lee Joon-Gi was a total rocksta! It's a story of his redemption. Of how he finds a purpose and gives life a second chance.

The Prosecutor, girlfriend and detective were great too. Okay maybe the Prosecutor chick was a overacting a little but she toned it down after the 1st episode.

But the true star of the show was the little kid. She brought out all my latent cannibal tendencies. I wanted to munch on her cheeks till I burped out loud enough to end the world. Adorable doesn't begin to cover how cute she was.

When I do marry JKH, I want kids like that.
Amen.

So, this thread is a dedication to all of you who've enjoyed these shows as much as I have. Bring it on people. Lemme know what you thought about them. How much you loved them. How awesome they were.
And exactly how far away from JKH are you gonna stay.
Yes. That's a compulsory question. ๐Ÿ˜‰

WELCOME TO THE DARK SIDE PEEPS. WE TOTALLY HAVE COOKIES. AND HOT OPPAS! ๐Ÿ˜ณ

I would hate to be with someone like Parksa. I have needs and he ain't gon be there all the time. Then again, I need some me time and he is perfect for that. I am conflicted.
City Hunter, on the other hand, is just the right amount of puppy for me. ๐Ÿ˜†
For now, I call dibs on City Hunter but I might change my mind so keep that in mind.

LMH ruled City Hunter and I loved it for him more than the plot. Sorry Pallo I just give a blind eye everything when it comes to this guy. Loved the action scenes but I didn't like the romance bit since I didn't like the girl that much. Anyways it was top notch!

I feel Heirs is his best so far. He made me all senti and laugh at the same time. This guy rocks!

He's mine. But if you still insist you've mentally married him...I'm gonna be the mistress. Mentally ofcourse. The mistress always gets the boy! ๐Ÿ˜†

Do check them out. Underrated shows. Wish they had a larger viewership.

I totally get what you're saying. Parksa is a really complicated character to love. But I truly madly deeply love him even so ๐Ÿ˜†
And I've o'rdy called dibs on City Hunter. Tho you can have the Goodie-shoes Prosecutor in that show. ๐Ÿ˜‰ I claim Badass Daddy and LMH. You can keep the nutty ahjussi too. ๐Ÿ˜†

Btw, I totally lurrrvvveee your siggy! Soo Ha...another weakness of mine. Lee Jong Suk's lips are where Paradise resides. I bet! ๐Ÿ˜ณ

And Cain and Abel...I've loved the book. If the show is anything half as good, I'm bound to love it.
Thanks for the recos ๐Ÿค—

Yes. I know how you feel. I've been in that phase when LMH was the center of my universe. But somehow I shifted camps after some extensive watching.
City Hunter remains my favorite show ever. And LMH is still the smartest Korean celebrity. But now I heart Jung Kyung Ho, Lee Jong Seok and someone others (whose names I'm forgetting atm) as well.

And Heirs...Well, am in the minority lot Nadzie. I didn't like it as much. Most of the time I felt that the conflict was resolved too easily...and if they had to get together like that at the end they could've as well done it at the starting. It seemed tooo draggy and illogical to me.
And what majorly pissed me off was how they didn't let Woo Bin's character develop much. Shame! They could've done so much with him.

For me...the winning pair in Heirs was Madame Han and Silent Mom. They were EPIC. To a point where I began fast forwarding the other scenes and watched only theirs ๐Ÿ˜†

So I finally watched Heartless City and I was in love with the Doctor's Son! He was just perfect! But the ending totally broke my heart๐Ÿ˜ญ
I know City Hunter had a better ending because everything was solved and answered. Heartless city ended in a way which left me with sooo many questions especially the very end where the Doctors son was talking on the phone.

But I loved Heartless City more. It wasnt perfect but in my standards it was perfect!

@Pallo
I'm too much in love with my first love that I can't get myself to invest on other Korean actors. I watch other shows but eventually compare him with them and back at square one ๐Ÿ˜† You're right LMH is clever plus he does try different genres and characters so I have no reason to love him less

I'm itching to start this Heartless City after reading your views. And hey I watched Master's Sun despite my dislike towards horror. It wasn't scary after all but lost its plot half way through. That British chick should not have appeared out of nowhere. Other than that, it was a good watch
