Now, rumour has it that Yash Raj Films intends to do what has seemed impossible for decades by bringing together the alleged former lovers in a film. The details of the project are being kept under wraps, but it's learnt that Aditya Chopra, who enjoys an excellent rapport with Big B, might be able to convince him to share the screen with Rekha again.
It was recently reported that director Anees Bazmee wanted to bring Amitabh Bachchan and Rekha together in his upcoming comedy Welcome Back, but gave up the idea after cold responses from both the actors. Now, he's gone on to say that he won't make Welcome Back until Big B gives his nod, but he's not uttered a syllable about Rekha's presence in the film.
Amitabh Bachchan and Rekha worked together in a number of films in the 70s and 80s, like Namak Haram', Khoon Pasina', Muqaddar Ka Sikander, Suhaag, Mr. Natwarlal and Silsila'. Their alleged love affair was the staple of rumour mills in the 80s, but it all ended on a rather sour note and they have kept distance from each other since then. Though Rekha has made some overtures of approaching him at public events, Amitabh Bachchan has staunchly avoided her.
Now, it remains to be seen if Aditya Chopra will pull off the biggest casting coup of Bollywood by bringing the two together.
