This is from the serial.😊 In the serial, Bairam Khan was killed on his way to Mecca by someone who had connection with or hired by MA😕

I'm not sure about the history. But I read that in Akhbarnama, Bairam Khan was dismissed by Akbar in 1560. BK wanted to leave India and to perform Hajj in Mecca. He was assassinated by an Afghan (whose father died in a war led by BK) at Patan and died on 31 January 1561 in Gujarat. His son and his wife were allowed to go free. His widowed, Salima Sultana (Akbar 1st cousin), married Akbar later. Abdul Rahim Khan-i-Khanna, BK's son, became one of the 'Nau-rattans' (Nine Gems) of Akbar.
