Chapter 1

RK was still seething in anger, gulping drink after drink at his regular bar. Memories of praises for Madhu, evidence of her success were piercing through him. Dipali's words came back to him again and again - he really did not want to believe her, but he couldn't ignore her either. Madhu was indeed chasing her superstardom, rubbing RK's own misery in his face. And to top it all, she was lying to him. His biwi...all those lustful eyes that stared at his biwi, saw her as a desirable actress...RK felt tortured. He had been failing, his superstardom was running away from him. Everything he was, his identity, everything he had achieved in his life had been going away from him. He had been desperate far too long in the recent few months, and RK hated being desperate. RK hated having to depend on others for help, begging others. Even Madhu. She was his love, his wife but he was supposed to provide for her and protect her, not the other way. He was not supposed to take charity from her. And she had proved it that she was better than him. She rescued RK's movie...without her, he would have been finished already.

But was this, this present situation any better? Living on his wife's charity?Madhu was showing again and again that RK was nothing any more, that she was the reason for their survival and success and she was better in every way than him.

RK broke the glass he was holding in anger. His hand was bleeding, but unlike what he hoped, the physical pain was not numbing down the emotional anguish he was feeling.

His phone was ringing. It was Madhu again. Rk threw the phone away.

Her words from earlier this evening came back to him. She lied, she openly lied, and when confronted with the cheque, she just tore it up and acted holier than thou again. She always wanted to be the superior one, the righteous one, the better one. And she was, goddammit. RK knew he was a kameena, he had been a fool many times in the past and Madhu had been the one guiding light of his life. She was everyone's favorite, including himself, because she brought happiness to everyone and she always did the right thing. She even taught him to love, dammit, and love her he did. But the same love was making things 100 times more difficult today. He couldn't hate her, he couldn't defeat her, he couldn't even stay away from her, but he also couldn't fight this growing resentment inside of him.
"It is your ego" Madhu had told him once.

It probably was, but does a man have no right to some ego and self-respect. And not any man. Does superstar RK not have a right to deserve his ego. That same ego which had been bruised and battered by everyone in the past few months. The industry, his co-workers, the media, people who he had done so much for, even his fans. And now even Madhu. She didn't want to be just his wife any more, because he wasn't good enough any more. He wasn't good enough for Madhu, to be her husband, her lover, her sole owner and protector. He had been proven incapable of providing for her. hHe was not a good deserving husband of superstar Madhubala, and she had even said he was incapable of being a good father to their child. Goddammit, even his love today - for her and for their child - was loser's love today. It didn't matter, it was too petty.

All RK was today, was a total loser.

The phone was still ringing. How many times will Madhu call? Why can't she just disappear from his life forever? RK checked the last thought as soon as it occured to him. No, he didn't want Madhu to leave him. He loved her too much. Her arms were the only place he still found peace and solace. Her eyes had some semblance of love and trust for him, and RK hung onto those like a drowning man holds onto a straw. He couldn't survive without Madhu, for sure. He needs to stop blaming her.

With this thought, he turned towards the couches where he had thrown the phone. Just then, it stopped ringing. Instead, a roar of noise from the other end of bar, where people were gathered around a big TV screen caught his ears. He turned to see Madhu dancing on the screen. It was the song from their recent movie, and the focus seemed to be on Madhu's sexy sari-clad body and moves. Blood shot up RK's eyes. Each one of those men were staking claim to his Madhu, and Madhu's eyes had something for each one of them. Not just RK any more. He sat back at his seat and gulped his drink. Why did he care about her so much? How dare she...

"Blue is really your color" said a husky voice near RK's ear.

RK turned back to see a hot 25 year old in a red dress offering him a drink
"I mean it...you look irresistible in blue. Especially off screen. My blood froze the moment I saw you. Do you mind if I touch you a bit? The heat..."

"The heat?" questioned RK

"You're so hot, if I just sat near you for a few minutes, I will melt" she said, sitting down next to RK. RK smiled. He had seen many like this girl in a past life, but it still made him feel good.
He picked up the glass she had brought him.

"So what's your name?" he asked.

Precap

Her body was pushed back to the car, crushing under his weight, and yet, melting under him. His hands crawled up her soft luscious body and sent a fresh wave of electricity running through him. Heat radiated from their bodies, filling the space between them with a familiar ache. He bended towards her lips, his hands cupping her face.
