Sandhya (Deepika Singh), the protagonist of Shashi-Sumeet Mittal's very popular show Diya Aur Baati Hum on Star Plus is going through a makeover of sorts to fit the bill of an IPS officer.
Yes, it is finally the time for our own Sandhya to chase her dreams and achieve them!! And we hear that the actress as always, is putting in her best efforts to get into a proper shape as she dons the tag of an IPS officer.
Says a source, "Playing the character to the T' is something that our Producers Shashi and Sumeet Mittal have believed in. In the upcoming track where Sandhya has to go through her IPS training, the makers have asked her to shed a few kilos to look fit and apt for the role."
When contacted, Deepika told, "Yes, I am motivated to work hard and you can see that now. I have shed at least 5 kgs in the past few weeks, and I intend to having a fitter look in days to come. I have been doing martial arts, karate, a lot of jogging to train myself. I usually wake up early in the morning and work hard on my physical strengths. And I know that all this will be useful as Sandhya gets to become an IPS officer. I feel I am lucky to have got the opportunity to don a role that will require me to be at my best physically. I have done quite a lot of stunt sequences initially in the show, and all are aware of my capabilities. I am an adventurous person by nature, and am looking forward to my new avatar in Diya Aur Baati Hum."
Commenting on this, Sumeet H. Mittal, Founder & Director - Shashi Sumeet Productions Pvt Ltd said, "We have always believed that an actor must look the character. If there is no authenticity there, the audience will never relate to it. Efforts to look the character always gets applauded and appreciated by the audience."
