"The last time I boarded the train, when Miley Jab Hum Tum had not started:Mohit Sehgal

Mohit Sehgal, fondly known as "Samrat" from Miley Jab Hum Tum will soon enter the popular show Qubool Hai as "Haider". He talks about his association with the city Mumbai.

How is Mumbai different from any other city?

I think Mumbai is very safe for girls, infact for everyone in comparision to other cities. So that's the thing I love about Bombay. It's much more lively. If you step out at night, it's much more livelier than other cities.

What is that one thing you can't live without in this city?

(thinks hard) Umm.. Bombay has given me work so I am thankful to the city for that. There is nothing like that without which I can't live because I am not so dependent on any one thing. But I love going to different restaurants and coffee shops so I guess that will be the only thing and that's actually not a big thing. Even if it's not there, I can manage. (laughs)

What do you love the most about Mumbai?

I think the sea, that's the best thing. I remember when I was in Delhi and had never been to Bombay before, in my mind, the sea excited me the most. So the first thing that I did after coming to Bombay was, had naariyal pani, then I went to Haji Ali and then to Juhu Beach. ( laughs) I guess that's the famous thing everyone does when the come here to Bombay.

What do you hate the most about Mumbai?

The roads. The infrastructure!

Which is the funniest Mumbai trait according to you?

Umm.. I think they say something, they have some accent. I don't remember exactly, I am not able to recall right now but jab bhi vo log baat karte hai, vokuch bolte hai, in a particular accent, lene ka, dene ka types. Something they say. They actually apply "ka" in everything, that's funny for me but I can't really call it funny because it's there accent and everyone has an accent.

I am a Delhiite and when I came here, I also had an accent which has gone now so it was a little funny when I came to Bombay. Everyone used to apply "ka" after a word but then I understood, its there accent. That's how they speak.

Vada Pav or Bhel Puri?

I love Vada Pav. I had so many Vada Pav's you know when I was struggling. When I was giving auditions in my initial years, I had so many of them, I used to literally live on Vada Pav's! I used to love having that.

When I came to Bombay, I used to travel by train and on stations you get "nimboo-pani" jo 2 rupees ka aata tha. Toh maine vo aur vada pav bohot khaaye hai and it's not that ki vo meri majboori thi and I had to live on that, but I used to love that. I used to love having that nimboo-pani, it was so chilled and refreshing. I used to forget about the hygiene thing and have it all the time.

If you have a tourist who has never been to Mumbai before, where would you take him/her?

I'll show them the best part of Bombay which is the Marine Drive. The Nariman Point, Queen's Necklace. It's the most beautiful part of Bombay.

A place that can instantly cheer you up?

I think Shopping centres. We love shopping. Both me and Sanaya, love to shop. As soon as we enter any shopping centre, even if it is grocery shopping for my home, we love doing that. There's a different smile on our faces when we shop. We shop for just about anything!

Where can you have more fun- Suburbs or Town?

I have more fun in Suburbs, because everything is here. My friends are here, and now I know this part of the city. I live here so I know each and everything about suburbs. So I have more fun here.

Name a place in Mumbai where you can never ever get bored.

I think in Bandra, I can never get bored. And around the sea, if I sit there and have coffee with a good friend, I can talk for hours!

When was the last time you boarded the local train?

The last time I boarded the train, when Miley Jab Hum Tum had not started. I don't remember exactly, but before the show started, some 4-5 years back. And now if somebody tells me to board the train, I can never go. I still remember, I used to wear shirts, and by the end of the day after traveling, they used to get crushed, full of sweat. So now I cannot go by trains. ( laughs)
