Chapter- 15
Ram could hardly keep his eyes open as he sat on the sofa, surrounded by a bunch of relatives , especially ladies. Ram opened his eyes , and yawned . Vikram deposited himself by Ram and smiled anonymously. Ram stared an angry look over him. Ram looked up and found Dadi coming to him.
In a very sleepy voice he asked dadi , how long the so called rasam will take to complete. Dadi got annoyed more and pulled Ram's ears . He leaned back as Dadi asked Natasha to see if Priya is ready or not . She ascended upstairs .
In the changing Room , Priya draped a simple red saree around and combed her hairs , as Neha sat on a stool .
waise rasam hain kya neha ?' priya asked as she put a bindi on her forehead.
frankly speaking Priya these peoples from Punjab..' Neha giggled ... , I don't know from where on earth all these rituals they are finding out !'
Priya smiled and walked to the bedroom , putting her ear rings . Neha followed, chalo ... let go downstairs , everyone must be waiting for you.' Priya agreed and was about to open the door , but the knock interrupted. Neha opened it and found Natasha. Natasha delivered the dadi's orders . They went downstairs together.
Dadi , asked Priya to sit by Ram and cover her head by her pallu. Ram looked at Priya and smiled. Dadi went back and sat on the grand sofa , placed just infront of the newly wedded couple and asked the ladies to start the ritual. Before they could start , ram intervened asking about the ritual.
nazar utarenge tum dono ke yeh log.. chalo oye shuru ho jao.' Dadi ordered .
what !! For this silly things you all woke me up ! ' ram jumped from his place , But he stopped as he found priya pulling his hand , snapping at his wife , he settled down.
this is the way you talk with your dadi ? ram .' Krishna Kapoor raged.
Ram looked down and uttered , Sorry' annoyingly , adding , sorry dadi , I am sorry !'
The elderly lady stood up , koi rasam ni hoga , chalo ...' The lady left , and followed every other lady , from the hall, ram and priya were left behind only with Neha and Vikram. Ram leaned back on the couch.
That's why I said you Priya lets go for a court marriage .' Ram stood up and went back to the bedroom.
Neha sat by Priya , placing a firm grip on her shoulder she asked to go and take some rest , and assured that she will make sure dadi and Her mother in law forgives them. It was Hard for Priya to keep her eyes open , but she wanted to speak with Dadi . Priya stood up and walked to the elder's room. Before entering she knocked.
Come in' came the reply from the other side. Priya walked inside and closing the door behind her she stood there only .
beta , go and have some rest .' Krishna Kapoor said .
maa wo ..' Priya looked at dadi and walked to her , Kneeling to the old lady , dadi , Ram app ko hurt karna ni chahtein the. Actually he was tired and , wo ayenge na app se mafi magenge .maaf kar dijiye humein.' Kab bada hoga yeh Ladka' said dadi , upset with Ram . She caressed priya's head , and added , puttar tujse naraz ni hoon mein ... Ram ka ek buri adaat hain , use sab kuch apne hisab se chahiye .. kabhi kabhi had kar deta hain..aaj tu aa gayi hain , uski zimmedari badh gayi hain.abhi jake so jaa , kal teri Muh Dikhayi hain .. Wo ladka toh sota rehega , besharam . Jaa tu so jaa jake .' Dadi smiled.
Priya stood up to leave. Dadi Intervened , calling her , she said , abb tu hi , badal sakti hain .. Ram ko. Bharosha hain tuj pe hum sab ko.' Priya smiled and left to her bedroom.
Bolting the door , she slipped inside the duvet and leaned at the head Rest, Ram was well awake. He turned to his newly wedded wife , kissing her hand , he asked Priya to sleep. She took her hand from him annoyingly.
now what I did Priya ?' Ram sat up ...
what was the need to react in front of a hall full of relatives , have you ever thought how much dadi is hurt !' Priya asked .
priya please don't start . Dadi should have understood ..' ram was intervened , priya raised her voice what ram , what she should have understood. What ? tell me what she should have understood. That we were ...'
why you are over reacting for that little thing? And tell me what I said .. just nothing ' Ram said surprised over Priya's reaction.
I am not over reacting baby , I am trying to say you something and you are not in a mood to hear at all.' priya said , leaning to Ram's shoulder. Priya moved Ram's face to her holding by chin and smiled, Ram gave no reaction . Mr.Husband , I am very sleepy , and it is really tough for me to keep myself awake , but take it as advice or as an order , you will say sorry to Dadi .' Priya kissed Ram's cheek and lied down. Ram looked back to priya , and was about to lie down , his eyes caught some activities near the door, He switched off the bed lamps and walked to the door , with cat paws. Without giving any chance to react to the intruders , he opened the door. Four girls including Natasha trembled right at the floor , infront of Ram.
Ram stood there , crossing his hand along his chest and raised his eyebrows to the girls. Smiling awkwardly they stood up.
what ?' ram asked , he was not in a mood to joke , he glared at the girls .
Nothing bhai ...' Natasha tried to tackle.
Ram once looked back , before replying . As he didn't want to end up fighting with his wife at the very first day of their married life , he managed to smile , kya hain naa if you all would have peeped into last night , your luck would have favored you all. But now both of us are very sleepy and your bhabhi has already fallen asleep , so Better luck next time..' Showing them thumbs up , ram came inside and bolted the door. Girls Outside , took little time to recollect themselves from the silent treatment of their brother.
Ram slipped inside the duvet, he lied down with his back up . Priya was still awake and she heard whatever Ram , said to the girls trying to keep himself cool. Priya climbed to his back , hugging him by his waist she deposited herself safely on his back. Ram smiled too. Without talking even , they can make themselves feel the unspoken words of Love. Soon the dozed off into deep slumber.
Lately that Morning ...
Priya , woke up first , when she came out of the changing room , in a cream saree with rose embroidered on it , she found Ram still sleeping. Sitting by his side , she caressed his hairs. Ram moved a little. Leaning closer to him , she whispered Good Morning' . Ram smiled and in a sleepy voice he wished her back.
so you will not look at me. okay !' pouting her lips she stood up , ram Pulled her so that she safely lands on him. Priya's hairs got scattered , covering her face. Ram moved it with his index finger, he found her eyes closed. Smiling he brushed his nose with hers.
itni sharam .. now there is no secret between us !' ram said . priya suddenly opened her eyes and looked at him , She tried to move away from Ram. Worry was clearly visible on her face, Ram held her tight , and made her look at him. He asked her about her worry.
nothing ..' She stood up. Ram followed next. Walking to the dresser she started combing her hair , Ram was not convinced with priya's answer, he forced her for a reply. Priya looked back with a smile, only one secret is hidden from you , but I promise you I will tell you very soon.'
why not now Priya' ram asked restlessly.
because now you should go to Dadi and say sorry to her , you have hurt her , and Ram we are married now that doesn't mean that you will start ignoring others. I have already said you Ram , before me , they were there , So go and change , and come downstairs.' Priya said seriously and walked to the door. Before leaving she looked back , with a smile she said that she is waiting for Ram downstairs .
Priya came downstairs and found karthik there. She smiled and hugged her brother. She was surprised to find him there. When asked about the sudden visit , dadi cleared the confusion, she said that Karthik was there to take Ram and Priya to the Sharma Villa for the Pag Phera Ceremony. Priya smiled and took blessings from the elders.
Ram , came downstairs in next few minutes, He welcomed Karthik and learnt about the ceremony to be held at Priya's place.
Krishna' dadi started with an angry tone , keh de ram se , aaj wo udhar hi rehega , pooch bhi le isse bhi use koi dikat hain kya?' dadi didn't even looked at Ram . Ram like an obedient boy walked to Dadi , and knelt to her. Dadi cocked her face to the other side. Ram tried to hold her hands on his , but she repulsed.
Dadi , I am sorry' ram said holding his ears tight. Priya smiled. Even then Dadi didn't looked at her grandson. Daadi ...' Ram hugged the old lady tight in his arms. Dadi yelled to leave her , but ram didn't let it happen , he kept on hugging her unless and until she smiled and forgave him.
ja ready hoke Karthik ke saath Priya ke mayka jaa ... udhar aaj rehna bhi hain tuje ..samjha...' dadi pulled ram's ears and added , iss mein bhi problem hain tuje kya ?'
ouch dadi ...' Ram yelled , ni ni koi problem ni hain ..'
accha baccha baan gaya lagta hain tu ...' dadi left Ram's ears. Ram Stood up and Smiled to Priya .
Sharma Villa ,
The Family was eagerly waiting for their Daughter and Son - In - Law . Shikha ji Asked meenal to take the every responsibility of the Pag Phera rasam . Almost 20-25 dishes of different variants were prepared for Ram and Priya.
Meenal Masi ran to the entrance as she saw karthik coming in , he smiled and paved the way to the newly wed couple. Priya Looked at ram as she found her masi Coming to them. Ram and priya bend to take her blessings. She didn't stopped them. Meenal , caressed priya's face and then looked smiling broad at Ram , a lone tear escaped her eyes.
you know ram , when priya was a little kid since then , I used to fight with Shipra , that who will do all the rightful duties when our daughter will get married and you know what priya used to say, to mute both of us.' Meenal masi giggled.. priya smiled even ..
what !' ram looked around like a fool..
No masi don't tell him...' priya first time spoke to her masi with a smile.
I should , yeh bhi toh jane ki biwi kitni hasmukh hain , aur kitni naughty...' meenal added , She used to say okay , don't worry , I will get two grooms one for maa and one for masi , then both of you will get the equal opportunities to do the rightful duties as a mother.' Meenal laughed and priya covered her face with her hand. Ram smiled but when Priya looked at him , he smiled very wickedly.
Ram , priya walked to Shikha ji and took her blessings , they sat on either side of her, She asked priya to prepare tea for her , which she missed the most that morning. Priya smiled and left for the kitchen.
ram , have you told her everything ?' Shikha ji asked ... Ram smiled but didn't looked at the elderly lady . Without giving another chance to speak , and without letting anyone to intervene , Shikha ji ordered Ram to disclose about the lies to priya the very day , when both of them will be there at the Sharma house. Ram smiled back .
That Night .. after Dinner...
Ram was sitting by the window in priya's Bedroom. At about 10 p.m she came to the room, bolting the door , she walked to ram and accompanied him. Ram's brain was stormed with Shikha ji's orders. He don't even know how Priya will react to him , when she will know the truth. He was nervous and it was prominently visible on his face.
Priya rested her head on ram's shoulder , Ram tried to speak , but he stopped again. He was worried , very worried from the reaction of Priya. Ram took a deep breath and opened his mouth to speak , but Priya spoke this time.
ram , I have to join office day after tomorrow , karthik cannot do the meetings because I have had handled the clients from the very beginning. Dadi , maa will allow me na!' She asked looking worried .
Yes off course Baby , they know the importance of work ! Trust me!' ram assured priya , she smiled and hugged Her husband . Ram embraced her in his arms , priya I want to tell you something..'

Ram smiled , he sighed deep . he was relieved to know that Priya don't know about the lie till then . he cleared his throat and smiled broad. Priya asked ram again and again about the gifts , Ram with a smile added , wo ..ek toh.. Honeymoon tickets and second ...' Ram smiled .. and laughed ...
bolo naa... what she gave you , one I was sure that it will be Honeymoon package and that too off Venice I am Sure !' priya said with an ease .
how do you know that it is of Venice?' ram asked surprisingly .
I know ! she is my masi , I grew up seeing her , and moreover she has a Business over there. so I made a wild guess, but tell me about the other one.' Priya asked curiously.
Priya before that I want to tell you something.' Ram looked at priya. When She looked into her husband's eyes she found him disturbed , placing her hand on his cheek , she smiled and asked him to go ahead. Ram Grabbed Priya's hands in his tightly , gulping a lump of air , he declared about his plan , He said in details about the plan that he along with Shikha Ji made. Priya didn't stopped him for a moment , she listened to him very carefully. As ram ended , priya looked at him and asked , if there is anything else that she still need to know. Ram held her hand firmly and assured her that he is hiding nothing else from her.
ram , I can take anything but not lies , because there lies a very big reason behind that. Ram , today we are husband wife . ya I am .. I am angry over you, I want to shout scream over you but I am not doing it , coz , this is a lie that made me realize that I love you. It fetched good for both of Us . But please , don't lie to me again. Please.' Priya said with teary eyes. She stood up and walked away. Ram paced up and stopped her.
He stood in front of her looking into her eyes , he felt her to be more disturbed , priya you were never like this , the second gift that Masi gave me is an album that has different photos of you smiling laughing giggling , crying making wired faces , but where is she who is there in the album , where is she who is in the memories , where is she priya , I want to meet her . where you left her?'
Priya smiled and looked up , moving out from his arms priya walked to her mother's picture , smiling to her , she said , I gave away everything , the day she left me.'

no she is not . but I can't forget those days , when I saw my mom dying everyday a little. She punished herself for the sin committed by my father. I hate every relation you know why , because my father failed to respect the relation he was supposed to live with.' Priya turned to her perplexed husband . Priya knew that ram was not understanding what she is trying to say. She walked to the bed and sat down. Ram looked back ..

I wanted mom to expose dad to the world , but crazy she , ... She loved him , she loved her... she said that's she will never do anything that will harm their reputation. Slowly my mom punished ... my mom punished them , by killing herself.. I have seen my mother dying everyday .. Ram ..everyday... A little she died every day, she killed herself a little everyday... But she forgot that she was not only punishing her husband and sister , she was punishing her children... karthik ko toh meine samhal liya ... khud na samhal payi... Khud ko na samhal payi...' priya broke into tears ... Ram felt tears trickle down his cheeks, he walked to his wife and hugged her. Hugging ram she wept badly ..
Dad , regretted , when mom was gone ... Mom was on death bed.. then also she smiled , she wanted me to forgive my father, forgive my menu-maa.. yes Ram I didn't call her masi , I used to call her munu-maa. But how can I forgive them . how? They have had crossed every limit my mother can be a great soul but I was not neither I am. I can't forgive them. I can't . A lie destroyed my life , and that lie was from the closet person of my life , my dad and menu-maa. They always showed that they are the cutest brother sister of this world but the reality was something else. They were deeply in love. Who knows that if it still prevails. I cannot forgive them . I cannot ...' Priya broke into tears again ...
Ram didn't know how exactly he can support his wife. On the other hand , he was burdened with the promise that he made to priya's father , to gift back his daughter to him. But that moment for him , Priya was the foremost priority.

Ram cupped priya's face , he made her look at him , he wanted to speak , but couldn't . Wiping Priya's tears he hugged her tight. He hide herself in his arms and wept ... and with passing hours she drifted into deep slumber. Ram deposited priya carefully on the bed, and tucked her properly under the duvet.
Ram was restless , he checked the time it was almost 2 in the night , he badly needed to speak with someone , and that someone was none other than Shikha ji . But that late , she must be sleeping , he thought . But he cannot handle priya's pain. She said everything but she was still in pain and it was pinning him badly. So without thinking about the time , he called Shikha ji .. after two full rings , third time she herself called ram.
ram everything's Okay ?' She asked worriedly.
I .. I want to meet you now please .. which room please tell me.' Ram said very restlessly ... Shikha ji asked him to come to the ground floor and gave the direction to the room she was staying.. Ram checked once with Priya , finding her sleeping , she rushed out of the room. And with little worry , he found the room.
Ram knocked once , and from inside the familiar voice asked him to come inside. Ram stood at the door , with his heads down. The old lady switched on the bed side lamp and asked him to speak out .. Ram spoke at last , I know her darkest truth!'
Shikha ji Sighed deep , you should be with her right now , she must be weak , the darkest truth that is buried within her and me for years came out today , ram be with her...sheis not so strong that she used to showcase. She needs a shoulder to cry, and she trusts you the most; she loves you unconditionally .. be with her'
but I can't see her in pain..' ram said ...
So , be with her ... assure her that nothing has changed ... and next time you come to the farm house I will talk to her , we will have a chat .. but right now be with her ... and what you know keep it within yourself ... understood.' Shikha ji said , ram nodded and left ...
Ram walked back to the room and found priya , sleeping in the same position as he left her there . He climbed by her side and took her in arms , and hugged her tight. Ram looked at Priya's face , he can feel the pain. He hugged her once again and closed his eyes and tried to sleep ... but he failed , he kept on thinking about the pain that priya has gone through as a little girl once.
