'Good Morning Abu.' Asad heard his four years old daughter Ayat's voice as soon as he enterred the dining room while Zoya was busy making breakfast for him.
'Good Morning.' He said with a smile while sitting on his chair and took the newspaper from the table.
'Where is ami ?' He asked Zoya when she served him the breakfast.
'She must be coming I think so.' Zoya said confusedly and sat on the chair beside him.
'I have to tell you something.' Asad said while keeping the newspaper on the table.
'Go on.' Zoya said while spreading the jam on the bread with the knife which was falling down on the plate. He ignorred her and concentrated on his own plate.
'I am not having so much work these days. Actually my manager can handle the firm for next two months so I was thinking to go to Mumbai and have a look at Abu's business.' He said and looked at Ayat who put the first spoon of cornflakes in her mouth.
'For two months ?' Zoya asked him with her eyes wide open.
'Yes and as ami is going to Chicago to meet Najma for a month so I can't leave you both alone here.' Asad said while looking at her.
'So you should take both of them there aswell even Ayat is having vacations for two months.' Dilshad said with a smile as she enterred.
'Yes that's what I was thinking.' Asad said to her and she sat on a chair.
'Are you done with your packing ami ?' Zoya asked Dilshad.
'Yes but I will miss you all and especially her.' Dilshad said to them and looked at Ayat who was busy with her breakfast but was listening to their conversation and trying to understand everything.
'I ill missh you too Daadi.' Ayat said with her dimpled smile but still looking at her cornflakes. They all smiled at her and understood that food was more important to her right now than anything else.
'When are we leaving ?' Zoya asked Asad excitedly.
'In two to three days, I have to finish some work here still.' Asad said with a smile.
'Where are you going to stay there ? You don't know anyone there.' Dilshad asked him.
'Umm actually abu left a house there for me but I am thinking to prefer a hotel.' Asad said to her.
'Why a hotel ? You should go and stay there, its your house now. Is someone living there ?' Dilshad asked him while Zoya was quiet.
'A family was living there on rent but its empty from last few months.' Asad told her while drinking coffee.
'Then what is the problem ?' Dilshad could feel something fishy in his voice.
'Actually their are some rumours about the house. I don't believe on all that but I am still not sure that we should stay there or not.' Asad said and looked at Zoya who gave him a questioning look.
'What kind of rumours ?' Zoya asked him.
'Actually you know---' He couldn't say anything infront of Ayat.
'What ?' She asked him confusedly.
'Its like people who stayed there before say there is something like you know----' He wasn't getting words to describe.
'Say what ? Asad come on make it fast. I am not telling you to say I love you to me infront of everyone.' Zoya said and giggled at his stern face. Dilshad smiled at them.
'How can you say these things so easily Zoya infront of her ? She is growing up now, I don't want her to learn these things at all.' He said while looking at Ayat and didn't use the 'love' word infront of her.
'But she know what love means ? Right beautiful ?' Zoya asked Ayat and she nodded in yes. Zoya started laughing at Asad's shocked expressions.
'Who told you ? And what is love ?' Asad asked Ayat politely but with concern in his voice.
'Ami says love is how you care about me all the time when ami is not near. Right ?' Ayat said innocently while looking at him.
'Yes that is love and I care about you even if Zoya is their to take care of you.' Asad said with a smile and looked at Dilshad and Zoya who were still controlling thier laughter. 'Thank God ! You haven't told her anything else.' He took a sigh of relief.
'What did you expect from me ?' Zoya asked him and raised her eyebrow.
'Well in these five years I have learnt to not expect anything from you, you always do opposite to my expectations.' Asad said with a smirk on his face. Zoya looked at him in disbelief.
'Allah Miyaan ! What's wrong with you Asad ? What did I do now ? I always try my best to come up to your expectations and look at you, you never praise me or my efforts.' She said angrilly and he pinched the bridge of his nose and was regretting for saying that but it was too late.
'I didn't mean that. What I mean to say was that you always do better than my expectations.' Asad explained.
'Don't try to flatter me now. I know very well what you meant so you won't get your dinner tonight as your punishment.' Zoya said in stern tone while Dilshad smiled at them.
'What ? What kind of punishment is that ?' He asked her annoyingly.
'Nisha does that with her husband and he behaves good in return so now I have decided to do that aswell.' Zoya said proudly.
'That's Nisha's husband who tolerates all this but this is my house and I won't let this happen here.' Asad said and kept the cup on the table. I should stop all this right here or else if tomorrow Nisha will lock her husband in storeroom than she will force me to go for it aswell. He thought and shook his head as it was hard to imagine that even.
'Ya Allah ! I think her husband is better than mine, he always follows whatever she says. Ok atleast we can order pizza for dinner ?' Zoya asked him with a smile.
'He is that good that's why he is suffering with her, I don't want to be that good. I am fine with what I am.' Asad said.
'What do you mean by he is suffering ? You mean to say my friend is cruel ?' Zoya asked him with her eyes wide open. He was going to answer her when Dilshad interrupted.
'What a useless conversation you both are doing just to start a fight. Its better you both should stop now. We were discussing something important.' Dilshad said to change the topic.
'He started all this ami.' Zoya said.
'No you were the one who is always working on Nisha's ideas and you know I don't like that.' Asad said in stern tone. Before Zoya could answer him Dilshad interrupted again.
'I said stop !' Dilshad said again and they both were quiet. 'I don't know how you both would manage after I leave.' Dilshad said to both of them.
'Sorry ami. I won't do that again.' Zoya said with a smile like she always did after a fight and Asad looked at her in disbelief. She always saved herself from Dilshad's anger by saying sorry which was totally hard for him. Dilshad smiled at her.
'Asad ! This is not a way to talk about her friends, you should learn something from her. She is so polite and always forgives you.' Dilshad said to him and he was quiet.
'I will fix you later.' He whisperred angrilly to Zoya and she giggled.
'I am getting late now.' He said while looking at his watch.
'No, first tell me what is wrong with the house ? You know I am leaving in the evening so I won't get time to talk to you.' Dilshad reminded him.
'The family who lived there before say that the house is haunted but its just rumours so I am not sure what should I do.' Asad told them and smiled at their faces.
'Ya Allah !' Dilshad said.
'What ? Is it a joke ?' Zoya asked him as soon as she came out of the shock.
'What duz haulted mean ?' Ayat asked all of them as soon as she finished her breakfast and Asad realized that she was still there. Asad looked at her face and saw milkdrops falling from her mouth.
'Shona wait !' He called her with her nickname. 'Look up !' He said to make sure that it won't fall on her dress and took the napkin and she obeyed his command as she was very well aware of her mistake and her father's cleanliness problems.
He cleaned her face and sat back on his chair while Dilshad and Zoya were smiling at his care for her.
'Why didn't you keep napkin in your lap ?' He asked her.
'I forgot.' She pouted. He smiled and looked at Zoya.
'Zoya why didn't you give her a napkin ? What if her dress gets any stains ?' Asad asked her.
'I forgot too.' Zoya pouted aswell and he rolled his eyes while looking at his right side and then the left side. Both of them were having almost same features and brain. The only difference was the age difference between mother and daughter. Ayat giggled as she saw her mother copying her face.
'Give me five !' Zoya said to her while standing up while Ayat stood up on the chair and they both high fived in the middle of the table irrititating Asad more with that. Dilshad smiled at her happy family and wished they stay like this always.
'So what have you decided ?' Dilshad asked him as soon as Zoya sat back.
'I think these are just rumours so we shouldn't believe it. We are the owners and if we will believe on that than no one is going to stay there aswell and its just a matter of two months.' Zoya said in serious tone.
'That's what I think. Abu never told me anything like that about the house aswell.' Asad said understanding her point while Ayat was quietly listening to them now and making stupid stories in her mind with the new words.
'I don't know what should I say. If its just rumours than I think you should stay there because that is your own house. Anyways, you both can make a good decision yourself.' Dilshad said with a smile.
'We will discuss this later, I am getting late.' He said while standing up and pecked his lips on Ayat's forehead.
'Take care Shona. Don't eat anything unhealthy and don't watch too much TV. I will be back in the evening.' He said as if she was going on world tour.
'I will but whal duzz haulted mean ?' Ayat asked him again innocently and he smiled understanding the curiosity she got from Zoya. He took her in his arms.
'I said the house is haunted so that means house is big and beautiful with lots of rooms.' He lied to her while walking to the living room.
'Is it a good thigg ?' She asked confusedly.
'Yes !' Asad said and made her sit on the couch with him.
'Ok then we cam go there.' Ayat approved and he kissed her on her cheek.
'Now take care and don't be clumsy like your mother. You will get hurt.' Asad said to her in low voice and she giggled.
'Asad ! I heard that.' Zoya said angrilly from the kitchen.
'She has got so good listening power that sometimes I think that I should invest some of her power in mobile companies.' He was still enjoying Ayat's giggles so he made her laugh more but she stopped suddenly.
'What ?' He asked her.
'I didn't do anything ami.' She said innocently and coverred her mouth with her hands to stop giggles. He looked back and saw Zoya standing there with her hands on her hips.
'Are you listening to our private conversation ? That's bad manners Zoya. Right Shona ?' He asked Ayat and she nodded in yes.
'Look who is talking about manners ? You are the one who is making fun of me without any reason.' Zoya said and glared at him.
'I was just kidding and save this topic for the evening because now I am really getting late.' He said to Zoya while standing up to change the topic.
'Bye Abu.' Ayat said and waved her hand.
'Bye.' He smiled at her.
'Ami don't leave for airport, I will drop you. I will try my best to come early.' Asad said to Dilshad.
'Ok.' Dilshad nodded at him and he walked out with Zoya following him.
'Bye Zoya and think about the house again. Hotel or house, whatever you choose.' Asad said and hugged her.
'I will think about it.' She said and pecked her lips with his and he smiled. 'Bye.' She said and he walked to his car and she came inside as soon as his car was out of her gaze.
