First Cut

First haircut is the baby's first step into the real world. They are cocooned from the world by overprotective parents. But that first cut is a realization that many more firsts will follow and soon enough their baby will be too grown to be cocooned from the world. The Kundra heir was no exception to this and neither were his parents. Arjun Rishabh Kundra was sitting in an airplane shaped barber chair for his very first haircut. His curly, wavy dark hair was now long enough to obstruct his eyes. Rishabh and Madhu had taken their first born to the best baby saloon for his first cut. These people knew how to keep kids calm and cut hair. But like many children, Arjun too wailed as soon as he was placed in the chair; having him sit in RK's lap didn't stop him from screaming for his mom. Finally, the barber told the new parents he would distract Arjun so they could go into another room; he believed seeing them wasn't helping Arjun.

RK and Madhu snuck into a room with a two way mirror to watch their little boy. As soon as they entered the room, RK noticed Madhu's face; it looked like she was about to fall apart. He pulled her to his side, "Don't worry we can see him, he is right there, he is okay" RK said pointing to Arjun on the other side of the mirror as he placed a kiss on her temple.

Madhu sniffed, "I know but this the beginning, RK. Today it's his fist haircut, then it will be first day of school, first tooth lost, first sleepover, first overnight field trip, first day of college, first job then my baby will be getting married and having babies of his own. He is going to grow up in a blink of an eye then he won't need his Mamma anymore." Madhu cried into RK's shoulder.

"I know, Biwi. I wish we could freeze time but we can't. We will make sure we enjoy every moment of his life as it happens. We will freeze those memories in our hearts so when he is older we can replay them but till then let's enjoy our little guy. Let's enjoy watching him grow up, watch him become a great man, okay?" RK soothed Madhu.

As they picked up Arjun from the chair, Madhu took a lock of Arjun's hair for his baby scrapbook. They couldn't freeze time but they could freeze every momentous occasion with their son in their hearts.

Dear Diary,

Being Vibha Rishabh Kundra, the middle child is tough. Don't get me wrong, my family dotes on me and I adore them, but how could they forget today? It's such a monumental day, I hit double digits today. I'm 10 and no one has wished me yet. Bittu Chamu (Chachu+Mamu) usually gives me my gift the day before so he is first, but even he didn't gift me. Everyone is so busy with Maya's play. I love my baby sister dearly but why does it always have to be Maya, Maya, Maya?

I am never talking to Mamma or Papa again? Bhaiya is the first born and the only boy so no one forgets him and Maya is the baby; nobody loves me. Diary, I have to go. It seems Nana and Nani are here to pick me and Bhaiya up; the princess will be arriving later with Mamma and Papa.

It was easily visible the middle child of the Kundra clan wasn't in a very good mood as she left with her grandparents. But sometimes you have to taste the sour before you can taste the sweet. Half way to Maya's school, her Nana was reminded that he forgot something at RK Mansion, so they all doubled back.

Vibha strolled in front of everyone, as she approached her home, she noticed it seemed a little darker; she opened the door assuming her parents and sister had left for the school.

The moment she took a step inside, the lights came on and her whole entire family and friends screamed, "SURPRISE!"

The look of pure surprise was evident on Vibha's face and before she could close her mouth and pop her eyes back in, she found Maya pulling on her hand.

Vibha looked at Maya, who was now holding both of her ears in apology, "Sorry Didu! I made you sad but we wanted to give a big surprise for your big birthday. Sorry! I love you, Didu."

RK and Madhu approached their oldest daughter, Madhu pulled her into a hug as RK said, "Do you think we would forget our oldest daughter's 10^th birthday? We could never forget. Happy Birthday, Kiddo!" RK kissed her on the head as he wished her.

BEST DAY EVER!!! If I had to make a list of my top 10 birthdays this would definitely rank #1. Best family EVER! Best birthday EVER!
