Bangladesh Cricket Team had beaten India by 5 wickets in the very first match of both of the teams in the ICC World Cup. All the cricket lovers must know this news by now. As a Bangladeshi it's not hard to feel that how much happy and proud I am with this achievement. For us this is the answer back of our team to all the insults that we are getting from some parts of Indian media for all these years.
India is my favourite team between all the international teams (Of course excluding Bangladesh). Not only because it has so many great players like Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, Dhoni or Irfan Pathan, but we Bangladeshi are great fans of Indian Films, Music and other entertaining curriculums. The new generation even can understand and speak in Hindi because of this reason. I have so many favourite people there and I know that they all are supporting India and become so happy when India wins, so I naturally feel good if India wins against any other countries but Bangladesh. I personally think that mentally I owe a lot to India as they are giving us so much entertainment and enjoyment. But unfortunately we never got attention from India. Forget about the attention, we rather got ignorance and insults in return. Especially some parts of Indian media and business world always took place against us. We expected to get at least appreciation for our love and support towards them, but unfortunately we never get it. They shout for other countries who gave them supports, but never for us. Not at least in media. Even one of the singers of Bangladesh called James who sang some songs in Hindi films which had become very famous there, we hardly hear his name in Indian Media, when even Pakistani singers are so much appreciated there.
We know how human nature is, when you have so many things to proud of and when you are a member of such a big country, you can't avoid arrogance and will love to underestimate those who are weaker than you. When you are doing this all by yourself no one is going to hear that. Especially those to whom you are making laugh of. We know there are many people who have support and compassion for us. I'm not talking about them. I'm talking about major part of media and business that are connecting the whole world at the same time, so when you are saying something insulting in these medias then you are insulting them in front of the whole world. Earlier we didn't bother much before it took place in the matter of cricket.
Let me give two examples- Bangladesh Cricket Team was invited to all the countries to play cricket series with them, which is in ICC rule, but India denied to inviting us because they think they will have many few viewers then which is not good for their business. We wanted to play with them in their country, but they didn't allow us for their monetary reason! They agreed to come to our country to play, but won't allow us to go there.
My brother was very angry with the attitude of Indian media in the matter of cricket, but I was taking side of India and was convincing him that cricket is there life just like ours, so let them shout and dance for it. Just then in one of my favourite Indian dramas a dialogue was used where the name of Bangladesh Cricket Team was uttered with an insult while referring some idle boys sitting in the caf. I felt so bad on that moment that I prayed to God "Please Allah, help us to win against India in the very first match of World Cup, so that we can show them how much wrong they are". I'm so happy that God heard me and Bangladesh won so wonderfully against India.
Some people are saying it was an upset match for India. But the way Bangladesh played and the way they won, it would be an upset for Bangladesh if they wouldn't win that match. India have many reasons to be proud of, does many things for which they can shout and cheer. But unfortunately we get very few chances to do that. Only Bangladesh Cricket Team gave us so many reasons to be proud of. We are very proud of you guys….we are really proud of you. Carry on this success, we all are always with you….
