@blue. You are overestimating the teleaudience. What they really like is stuff like this virtual baby track, the body heat track and the like. That is what pushes up the TRPs. The audience has NO idea about Ranthambhore, Mewar, Marwar, Bundi or Kabul for that matter, and they care even less.
For the bulk of the teleaudience, a historical means grand sets and clothes, and a screenplay steeped in uncomplicated patriotism, like Maharana Pratap, Prithviraj Chauhan or Jhansi ki Rani.
Jodha Akbar does not fit into this last slot, for there is not patriotism here, and they have not even got a subtitle like Bharat ka veer putra , as for Maharana Pratap. Instead they started out by labelling Jalal a haivaan!
If it is as successful as it is, that is due to Rajat, and the twists of the kind I have listed above. If there was too much talk of Mughal politics or administration, the eyes of the audience would glaze over. Ekta Kapoor knows her audience like the palm of her hand, and she will take good care not to let this happen.
So do not get your hopes up as far as this kind of thing or even intelligent romance goes.
Shyamala Aunty
Beautiful as always Lana...
Splendid...agree with all you've stated...Btw, did you manage to catch the Zee rishtey award promo in which RT is performing...you'll be able to get glimpses of his stunts with the sword in it -he's very good..I'm disheartened that they are not showing even 1/10th of it on screen...surely, Ekta can't be short of funds!!!!If they want to portray the love story of an Alpha male like the Shehenshah - they need to show a balance between his life as a ruler and a husband...any tracks that don't deal with the harem seem to be in super-fast-forward mode and harem-issues seem to be taking precedence in his life!I would like the CVs to give a script that deals with good doses of Akbar's real achievements while weaving the tale of developing relations between Jodha and Jalal too!I would also like to see Jodha take a stance as an Empress... according to documents, she was a wise and diplomatic lady who kept herself abreast with issues of the state and religion! The Jodha in the serial is yet to capture that essence. Not only would this cover aspects we've yet not witnessed - it will also be a good platform to show sensibly growing trust/friendship between Jalal and Jodha! Besides, the variety will keep the audiences hooked and help towards story/character progression!😊
