Pavitra Rishta Written Update 19th November 2013

He is struggling wildly in his chair and his employees are trying to hold him down. Rushali rushes in and tries to restrain him.

Naren is struggling like crazy and saying, Mom, leave me! Ahana is going to have an accident, the car is too close to her, car is coming too close...

Rushali yells to the doctor to give him a sedative quickly. Naren shouts, Why is the doctor so tall? What is the doctor doing to me? Mom Please, I want to meet Ahana!

Doctor gives Naren the injection and Rushali tells him to calm down. Naren gradually sinks into the chair from the sedative.

Rushali asks all the employees to leave the room and tells them whatever happened in the room shd remain a secret. Everyone nods and leaves.

Rushali sits down near Naren and asks the doctor whats going on? Previously he used to get attacks once in a while, now why are they happening every week?

Doctor tells her, Naren's condition is getting worse day by day. We are trying to make Naren recover fast but u shd also mind him! You send him to the office, you shd take care of him! Whatever u project to the world outside, the truth is hes not mentally stable. He needs treatment at home, with complete rest.

Rushali tells the doctor, u know very well that we have tried everything!

Rushali comes back to Ankita in the board room and laughs nonchalantly, she says, This Naren naa...he wanted to know what I was telling you, when I told him abt ur marriage he said its Yes from his side. So I wanted to ask you ...

Ankita looks very uncomfortable, she tells Rushali she needs time to think about it.

Rushali laughs and says, You always think before doing something, I like this, I want a girl like you for Naren! Fair enough! You take ur time, think abt it! Its yes from our side and if u also agree then the marriage will take place very soon.

Ankita smiles and nods awkwardly and leaves.

At the chawl:

Ankita is sitting outside somewhere and thinking abt what Rushali said abt marrying Naren, that the day she marries Naren she wont be an employee of the company but will become the Boss. She remembers Sonu begging on the street with Soham, recollects when the bar owner's goons had evicted them from their house and all their belongings were thrown out on the street. She remembers Mansi talking abt her feelings for Shashank, then Shanky asking Ankita to marry him. Rushali telling her that her only responsibility after marriage will be Naren.

Shashank arrives there and looks around, he thinks this is the same place where I had confessed my feelings for Ankita the first time. Today Ankita has called me to this spot, does that mean shes going to agree to my proposal today?

He goes to where Ankita is sitting and sits down beside her. He asks her whats the matter, why did she call him there?

She looks seriously at him, Shashank, Im ready to marry you!

Hes surprised then delighted, I knew it, I knew u would say Yes! You love me as much as I love you! Without me you are...

Ankita interrupts him, Shashank, if you don't object I want to marry you tonight!

Hes puzzled why she wants to get married today and asks her, why Today? What is the compulsion?

Ankita says, it's a big problem, I have to get married to u today. If you are ready, only then...

Shashank tells her, he has no problems, hes ready!

Ankita says, Alright, but before our wedding, I want to meet ur parents once. If u don't have any problems, I want to meet them right now, can u take me to them?

Shashank looks surprised, then smiles and nods.

Karmarkar residence.

Rushali and Shirish are sitting on the bed, Raunak is standing before them.

He says, What? Brother's wedding and with that Ankita? You mean to say that she will marry this madman? Impossible, Mom, Impossible! Naren used to love some girl in London and he went crazy after her death. Your genius son! You have hidden this secret from the world but the girl who marries him will have to know the truth. Have you told her this fact? Oh, so u didn't tell her this, right? Oh come on, Mom, stop dreaming abt ur son's wedding, and don't suffer from this illusion that just because that girl is poor, u will manipulate her as u want! Shes not the type to be bullied like that, the moment she finds out that brother is mad, she will refuse to marry him!

Rushali gets up and goes to Raunak, tells him sharply, You don't need to get involved in this! Just stay out of it! And why are u going on calling him crazy? Hes ur brother! Youre talking abt him this way? Aren't u ashamed of yourself?

Raunak laughs nastily. Rushali continues to berate him, I don't expect any love for Naren from you, but maybe u can show a little respect?

Raunak says, Leave me Mom, and just look at urself! What ur doing for ur darling son, theres nothing wrong with that, that is absolutely right? Only I am wrong?

Rushali says, Im not ruining anyone's life! Im only trying...

Raunak interrupts, then will u do what I tell u to?...tell that girl the truth abt Brother. Will u tell her? When? After the engagement or after the wedding? Mom, how can u be naive? U know urself that marrying off a madman doesn't make sense. Right? And that relationship wont survive, the moment she knows hes crazy she will run away! Who knows maybe she already knows this...

Rushali says, that girl is not the type to run away, Raunak! She will definitely agree to this marriage. Im sure!

Shashank's house

Thunder and lightning outside. Shanky's dad drinking tea, tells his wife, it seems to be a downpour, make some hot onion fritters!

The mom complains that its November but the rain doesn't seem to stop!

The dad says, its all due to global warming, climate is changing everyday. Some countries are getting hurricanes...

Theres a knock at the door, the dad opens it. Ankita and Shashank have arrived.

Dad is surprised, Ankita, u are here? He brings them inside, Ankita greets the parents with folded hands.

The mother comes out of the kitchen and glares at Ankita.

Shashank tells her, Ayi, I need to tell you something. The two of us want to get married tonight.

The mother scowls angrily and asks, Marriage? Tonight itself? When was this decided?

Shanky says, Just now! Ankita told me she wants to get married tonight. She has some problems. So we are getting married tonight.

Mother tells them, since u two have already decided then its alright. But still there are some things that are not clear from me! You know that already!

Shashank says, Yes I know u want Mansi to come to this family, but only Ankita can come here! We are getting married tonight.

Mom asks him, But why tonight? Is there an auspicious hour today? If u get married in such a hurry there will be gossip. And also what abt her brothers and sisters? Where will they live? Their house or our house? Theres no place in our house for them! If they live in that house, then I don't have any objections to this wedding. Ankita can be my bahu. But I don't understand what is the compulsion that is forcing Ankita to get married tonight?

Ankita tells her, I cant tell u whats my compulsion. But I can tell u one thing, after marriage my brothers and sisters will stay with me only! I wont come here leaving my siblings alone there. If you don't agree to this, then it doesn't matter! Shashank will come and live with us at our home.

Shanky's mother gets furious, she goes up to Ankita and blasts her, Are u in ur senses? My son will go to live in ur house? Leaving his parents behind? What do u want? I shd give my son to you?

Ankita looks down and says, Don't give him to me, I will come here with my siblings, I don't have a problem. Shashank u know, my siblings are very young, I cannot leave them alone there. They will live here with me!

Shashank tells his mom, Ayi, where is wrong with this? Shes right! I am ready to take up all her responsibilities.

His mom angrily tells him, Shashank, u have become blind in ur love for her! You cannot see anything! Shes so shrewd, since she cannot take care of her responsibilities shes dumping them on you! She knows u will take care of them! And if u go to her house after the wedding what will happen to us? Who will look after us? How will we pay our household expenses? Did we bring u up for this, that u grow up and leave us?

Shashank tells her, who is leaving u, Aayi? Whether I live here or at her house, I will fulfil all my duties as a son! As for household expenses, I will take up another job, I will work all day and night! I will take care of everything!

The mom says, Its easy to say all that, doing it is much more difficult! This is not a girl, shes a mountain of responsibilities! Taking care of her siblings, paying for their household expenses, educating all of them, getting them married...even if you earn twice of thrice, still it wont be enough to pay for all her burden! And what when u have kids of ur own? Will take care of ur own kids or her siblings? Its not just one thing but a hundred things like this!

Ankita tells her, You are absolutely right! I have been asking Shashank this for last 2 yrs. You feel that Im a mountain of burden, that is correct! Because I have too many responsibilities from which I cannot turn away. But if u feel that Im not the right girl for Shashank then ur completely right! I know Im not the right girl for him! I shd not get married to him! But somewhere, I myself want to get married to him! Do u know why? Because hes the type of guy who has always helped me, always stood by me! Hes the only one who can understand me, so I want to marry him! But its also true that if u two don't agree to this marriage... then I wont marry you, Shashank!

Hes shocked, she asks his parents whats their final decision.

The parents remain silent, look away.

Ankita tells Shashank that his parents don't agree to their alliance. She says, And its not easy to agree to carry such a heavy burden, I can understand. Shashank, I want to tell u something. Someone is there who wants to take care of my responsibilities, take care of my siblings and his parents don't have any objection to that so Im getting married to him!

Shashank and his parents are stunned. Shashank tearfully asks her.. What?

She says, Yes, I am going to agree to his proposal today.

He asks her, did u bring me here to tell me all this?

The mom jumps in at once, See, I told u naa, this girl is very selfish! She got a better guy than u so shes agreeing to marry him! I knew she will be like this!

Ankita turns to her and says, Its not like that, Auntie! I want to marry Shashank today but until u two agree I wont marry him! But I don't think Shashank shd carry so many burdens alone.

She turns to Shashank and says, Ive been trying to explain to you for so long that Im not the right girl for you! Not the right choice for this family. Manu is right for you, not me! Please marry Manu! I will arrange ur wedding nicely. I will have to marry someone else because my siblings will get a better life after this! I can make that much sacrifice for their happiness!

Shashank asks her, So ur marrying someone else because his family is ready to support ur siblings?

Ankita tells him tearfully, at least you don't say like that, u have always understood me, try to understand it, please forgive me, Im sorry.

Ankita tries to leave but Shashank grabs her arm, she turns back, he tells her, U cannot do like this! Don't u love me? Tell me, Ankita, don't u love me?

Ankita tells him, there are some people in this world who have no right to fall in love. I only want my brothers and sisters to be happy! Nothing else... and if u have ever loved me, please listen to my and ur mother's requests and marry Manu. Please don't misunderstand me!

Ankita leaves, Shashank looks at her leaving, his mom comes and tells him, Ankita was right, you agree to her request. Your marriage with her can never work out.

Shanky tells her, do u know why she refused me in front of you two? Because she didn't want to do it by herself. She couldn't refuse me till now, her feelings wouldn't allow her to do so. But today she made u refuse on her behalf. Shes Ankita! You wont understand her! Shes just marrying that other guy so that u and I can be happy. She doesn't want to put her burdens on me, if shes ever loved anyone in her life then that's me! Today I not only lost my love but a very good girl! I lost someone who makes others have a new life! Thank you!

Shashank leaves, leaving his mother staring after him.

Ankita is walking home in the rain, song Peeda majha playing in the background. She remembers Shashank's words, his questions if she loved him or not...shes crying in the rain, hugging herself.

Karmarkar house

Ankita goes in and asks the servant to call Rushali Ma'am!

Servant asks her name, she says, Ankita Mhatre.

In the bedroom, Shirish/ Rushali/ Raunak are still having their arguments.

Shirish stands up and yells, Enough, Raunak! After today, I don't want to hear that word "Crazy"!

Raunak says, Dad Im just trying...but Shirish shuts him up, Enough!

Servant comes and tells Rushali that Ankita Mhatre has come to meet her. She goes down after giving Raunak a warning glance.

Rushali goes down and greets Ankita and tells her to come inside.

Ankita refuses saying shes fine and then she tells Rushali that shes ready to get married.

Rushali is delighted, she pats her cheek and says, Im so happy! I knew that would be ur answer. I am very happy with ur reply.

Naren is talking to his cactus upstairs, U know I always worry abt Ahana, she can do anything anytime!

He sees Ankita down below and calls out, Ahana!

Ankita and Rushali look up. Naren smiles happily and says I was just talking abt u...he tells the cactus that Ahana is here!

Rushali tells Ankita, if u don't mind, I want the engagement to take place tomorrow. Ankita agrees.

Naren is smiling above, Rushali looks up and says, Just see, how happy he looks after so many days! As if his life has changed!

Naren tells Anki that the cactus is saying Hi to her.

Rushali tells Anki that Naren was telling her himself that Ahana is the perfect girl for him! I will be honest, even I feel like that!

Ankita says, Yes Ma'am, she looks up, Naren waves again and shows her the cactus.
