Desperately want a film of mine to be successful: Sunny Deol
November 19th, 2013.After the record-breaking success of Gadar - Ek Prem Katha way back in the year 2001, veteran actor Sunny Deol has featured in more than 20 films. Unfortunately, only 3 films have done reasonably well at the box office - Indian (2001), Apne (2007) and Yamla Pagla Deewana (2011).
His only release this year, Yamla Pagla Deewana 2, failed to excite the audience. Now, with his latest film, Singh Saab The Great all set to hit screens this weekend, the 57-year-old actor says he is desperate for the film to do well.
"At the moment I desperately want a film of mine to be successful. If this film is successful, then I have some lovely things lined up, which I want to do."
"I am the kind of person who wants honesty. If my film is bad, I don't want it to be successful. But if it were good then I'd definitely want it to be successful. That's the way I am."
Sunny also slammed the critics and asked the audience to watch the trailer and decide for themselves whether they want to watch a film or not.
"Loads of money and time is spent on a film and we wait for that one Friday and then we have some critics who criticise it, others praise it. Millions and millions of people follow critics, which is so stupid. I have never gone to see a film because a critic praised it. I always watch a film because I liked the trailer."
Directed by Anil Sharma, Singh Saab The Great releases in theatres on November 22nd with Dharma Productions' Gori Tere Pyaar Mein.
